ARE YOUR WATERS TROUBLED?

DECEMBER 15, 2007

As I was awaking this morning, the very first conscious awareness I had was… Father is asking me:  “Are your waters being troubled?”  His words caused me to focus on the Bible story about the Pool of Siloam – and how, on occasion, the waters would “be troubled.”  When this happened, folks could move into that “troubled water” and be healed.  I waited for Father to give me more information concerning what was on His Mind this morning.

In the meantime, my mind was reverting back to the prayers that were on my heart last night as I went to bed:

A. A very precious friend was driving to Missouri – in a bad snow storm – with icy roads in the vicinity – on

her way to pick up her grown daughter who had been badly beaten.  She had become the victim of a relationship that had turned violent.

B. A man I had not visited with for several years – had called me on the phone and shared that he has become a victim of 9-11 by being given the task of cleaning up a “white powder spill” on his job at a local post office here in the DFW area and has lost his health, his way to make a living, and has spent the past six years virtually immobilized, not even able to sleep in his own comfortable bed, because of inhaling that white powder… and the horrible damage it has done to his respiratory system.  Is this white powder Anthrax?  The man was a postal worker!

C. A friend in Louisiana is facing a court date later in the month… believing Father for a fair settlement in her favor – her opponent is a very unscrupulous mortgage company.

D. Yet another request for prayer had to do with a lady whose husband had passed over to the spiritual realm only a few days earlier and she was facing a life of going on without his precious presence and  encouragement.

As I was again putting these petitions before the Father and seeking His direction on how to more fully pray about each request… when I again heard, “Are your waters troubled?”  This time, I got up and found the scriptures that speak of the Pool of Siloam and refreshed myself with the details of that place and what happened there:

John 5:4 “For an angel went down at a certain season into the pool and troubled the water.  Whosoever then first, after the troubling of the water, stepped in, was made whole of whatsoever disease he had.”

John 5:5 “And a certain man was there, which had an infirmity thirty and eight years.”

John 5:6 “When Jesus saw him lie, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he saith unto him, Wilt thou be made whole?”

John 5:7 “The impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me.”

John 5:8 “Jesus saith unto him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk.”

John 5:9 “And immediately the man was made whole, and took up his bed, and walked: and on the same day  was the sabbath.”

John 9:6 “When he had thus spoken, he spat on the ground, and made clay of the spittle, and he anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay,”

John 9:7 “And said unto him, Go, wash in the pool of Siloam, (which is by interpretation, Sent.) He went his way therefore, and washed, and came seeing.  [The man had been blind.]

John 9:10 “Therefore said they unto him, How were thine eyes opened?

John 9:11 “He answered and said, A man that is called Jesus made clay, and anointed mine eyes, and said unto me, Go to the pool of Siloam, and wash: and I went and washed, and I received sight.

As I read and re-read this account of “waters being troubled…” I was reminded that my own being was the “waters” being referred to today.  My understanding was expanded to a deeper level in seeing more clearly than ever before – that nothing that represented the being “me” belonged to me… that I was simply a vessel placed on this earth to be filled to overflowing with the presence and the power of God’s Holy Spirit.  And then I was given some understanding of what the question referred to.  I was reminded that our physical being is composed of mostly water… more than 80%, I’ve read.

When Jesus was walking on this earth in a human body, he “spoke” solutions – healings, deliverances… but today, by His Spirit in us, He is still speaking to the many that do not yet have ears to hear Him directly in their own spirit.

When He was physically present, he “anointed” the eyes of this blind man… but he required a step of faith on the part of the blind man… “Go to the pool of Siloam and wash…” [wash off this spittle and dirt I have placed on your eyes!]  Today we are a form of that POOL OF SILOAM – a BODY OF WATER that the sick can come to… and by the SAME POWER that “TROUBLED” THE WATER in that POOL OF SILOAM, they can be healed.  It is still Jesus’ voice that “SPEAKS” to HIS people – through us by His Holy Spirit.  It is still HIS POWER that causes the healing to come forth.  It is ALL HIM.  We are simply the microphones that HE uses to speak to His people.  He simply brings them to us… His present-day POOL of SILOAM… BODY of WATER for their healing.
