FEAR NOT LOVE

BY:  MARIBETH SCHLOBOHM

Selfishness sabotages friendship, not love

A shimmering dove, mourning the loss,

Ready to fly to your protection,

Covering you in wings of forgiveness.

You choose the path, not love

Who follows after in the shadow of your wake

Picking up the pieces of your heart,

Holding you together for the next battle.

Blinded by fleeting beauty and sweet words

Whispered on pillows by the comfort of fire,

Human desire, not love.

Love waits patiently, never in a hurry,

Love sees clearly, listening in silence,

Love has no pride and does not boast

Love walks softly and quietly, and

Love hears every tear.

Do not fear the dark hauntings of the night, for

Love is always there to sparkle by its light.
