The Reality of Righteousness is a foundational teaching that many have not understood in its simplicity. This series will set you free from the guilt and condemnation received from religious teaching and false concepts we have learned over the years.
We must know experientially and subjectively, the truths of the redemption of Jesus. One of the greatest difficulties for God’s people is to realize they have been made righteous. In our carnal nature we are full of guilt and condemnation because we cannot measure up to God’s holy standard. In our carnal nature we have no access to God. God’s people keep trying to know God by the intellect and by performing certain deeds. If you want to know the Lord you cannot know or find Him in the natural mind. We can only know and worship him in spirit.
The systematized Christian religion has been very proficient in teaching people that they are sinners. Over the years this has developed a sin consciousness in God’s people. What religion has not taught us is the reality of righteousness. Those who have not experienced God’s righteousness know they are sinful and do not know how to rid themselves of it. When we receive the revelation and realization of redemption and righteousness it releases us from a consciousness of guilt. Once you lose your sin consciousness you will find yourself free from all of the bondages of sin.
Let’s look at II Corinthians chapter 5. Beginning at verse 17, Paul says, “If any man is in Christ, he is a new creation. Old things are past away and behold all things are become new. And all things are if God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation. To know that God was in Christ reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.”
Now lets look at Colossians chapter 1. In verse 19 of Colossians 1, “It pleased the Father that in him should all fullness dwell; and, having made peace, peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile (How much?) all things unto himself; by him, I say whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven. And you, that were sometimes alienated (and separated) and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled in the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight.”
THE WORLD HAS BEEN RECONCILED
We must realize that these verses are not prophetic in the sense that they are speaking of something in the future. Do you realize that right now, Jesus is placing you before the Father unblameable and unreprovable in His sight? We have been reconciled – These verses say that the whole world HAS BEEN reconciled to God, not someday will be. God was in Christ reconciling the whole world unto Himself. God has no problems with the world. As far as He is concerned, He has reconciled everyone on the face of the earth. However, although we have been reconciled to God, we must receive that which God has given to us for it to benefit us. As long as you hold Jesus off at a distance and do not receive what He has provided for you, you do not receive the benefit of His salvation, His grace and His reconciliation. I am not talking about just saying some words “Jesus I receive you.” We must have a revelation of Christ in us the hope of Glory.
The whole world has been reconciled to God. Man as he is in his carnal mentality has no hope. “The natural man receives not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.” 1 Cor 2:14
Paul told the Ephesians that; “At one time you were without God, without hope in the world, being alienated – enemies in your mind by wicked works, separated from God”. (But he said) “Yet now God hath reconciled you in the body of His death; and through the cross He has presented you blameless, unreprovable in His sight.”
A REVELATION OF RIGHTEOUSNESS
To really reap the benefits of reconciliation, we must have an understanding and a revelation of God’s righteousness. The major problem in the church today, is “sin-consciousness.” Sin consciousness is that state of being, that makes you feel inadequate. You feel inferior, and you feel unable to do that which the righteous requirements of God require. Whenever you feel unable to do what God requires of you to do, you’re in a state of sin-consciousness. “Spiritual death” produced the sin-consciousness in man. Man lost his close fellowship with God in the fall. Through the fall, he became separated in his consciousness from God; he lost the awareness of his oneness. Sin-consciousness makes man reason and go into philosophy. All the religions of the world have been produced by man’s sin-consciousness. He feels separated from God, knowing that somehow he needs to get back to God. He needs to have that sense of righteousness that he lost in the garden. Man has through the years developed one religion after another trying to get back to God. But before we can be restored to fellowship as Adam had in the beginning, God had to give us His righteousness. This is not just another doctrine or theory. He has to impart to us by revelation, a conscious reality of the righteousness of God.
You must come to realize in your consciousness that there is no sin, there is no separation, and there is no barrier that can keep you from being righteous before God. Righteousness is not based on man’s efforts, but on God’s provision. Before man can ever be righteous and have the righteousness of God in subjective experience, he must first realize that righteousness comes through a right understanding of what God has already provided for him, and not what he can do by his performance.
Man feels inferior to God. He feels that he’s separated from God – now I’m talking even about Christians. This should not apply to Christians, but it does. Even though we have received Jesus, we still feel separated from God. We still feel sinful. We still feel inadequate. We are not even able to give a testimony in the church meeting, we are not able to speak for God, and not able to speak about the things of God. We feel inferior, we feel weak, and we have a sin-consciousness even though we are Christians.
Before you can ever have a proper fellowship with God, that sin-consciousness in you has to be destroyed. You will never have proper fellowship with God, and you will never have the joy of God flowing in you as long as you have sin-consciousness. As long as you are always aware of your sin and your weakness and your inability to please God, it separates you from the consciousness of God. Oneness with God does not come by your effort, it does not come by you feeling righteous, it does not come by your actions, but it comes by simply believing what God says about you in His Word. Your sin-consciousness, your weakness, your hang-ups and your habits all disappear not by your efforts, but by you believing what God says about you is true.
GOD HAS GIVEN US HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS
In restoring fellowship, God has given man His righteousness. There can be no joyous fellowship with our Father God as long as we have a sin-consciousness, because sin-consciousness will always make you feel inadequate and inferior, and unable to approach God, and unable be into His presence. Christians feel inferior, and so instead of believing God, (we all fall in to this trap) we feel that if we pray an hour every day, if we read the Scriptures everyday, if we teach Sunday school, if we go out and witness, then we are good enough to win God’s favor. We can do all of these things and still have a sin-consciousness before God, because a righteousness conscience does not come by self-effort. Now, if you have a proper consciousness of God, you may still do all of these things, but they will be done from an overflow and an enjoyment of His presence, His anointing, and His ability in your life. They won’t be done because you feel a need to justify yourself, or to make restitution, or that you should do some kind of penance before God to feel justified in His sight.
Christians need to understand that righteousness comes to them absolutely without any self-effort at all. What is the basis of our righteousness? How do we know that we are righteous? Again, let’s say there’s a person who reads the Bible everyday, who prays everyday, who does all the good works everyday, is that a proof that they are righteous? What’s the basis? That can be the fruit of righteousness, or it can be the fruit of a carnally minded man just being religious and trying to win favor before God.
What is the basis of righteousness? If it’s conduct, then the whole church for the most part today, is in a whole lot of trouble. Because the basis of their righteousness, is based upon their actions, and their actions are always inferior to God. Do you know that if you pray an hour everyday and are feeling justified in yourself, it won’t be long until you’ll be convinced that you have to pray two hours a day, then you have to pray three hours a day, then you have to read twenty chapters a day. I’ll tell you, the carnal religious mind will drive you to do all sorts of things, but you will never ever justify yourself in the sight of God by your actions. It will never happen.
WE ARE NOT JUSTIFIED BY OUR ACTIONS
The church is under a burden of guilt and shame and inferiority today, because we try to justify ourselves before God with our actions. That’s why Christians meet together and there is no joy, because they fail everyday. If your righteousness, and your fellowship with God are based upon your conduct, then there will not be much joy for you because you will fall short at times. Righteousness cannot be based upon man’s conduct.
If the church will get a revelation of this, we will come together with such joy and excitement that you won’t be able to keep the saints quiet when they meet together. The only authority and the only basis for our righteousness must be based upon the Word of God, not upon what we do. Always remember that. I am righteous because God says I am righteous. When I first had a revelation of this, I had been on a job for about three years. And everybody that worked with me knew that I was a Christian, but they also knew that I was a failure in living the Christian life because they knew me – you know, people that you work with, they know you. They could see by the evidence of my life that I was not a very good Christian. And I always had the consciousness of never being able to satisfy God enough. I wanted to, and I would try, but I would continuously fail. But when I found out about the gift of righteousness, and I found out that what I was trying to become, God had already made me to be, I began to confess, “I’m righteous, because God has made me righteous. I am just as righteous as the Lord Jesus Christ.” I began to see that, and confess it, and it changed my life.
Some of the teaching we’ve been taught in our churches has caused us to have a sin-consciousness. There’s been more preaching against sin than there has been about God making us righteous. God does not impute sin, He imputes righteousness. So from the pulpits if sin is preached, sin will be reproduced in the saints. But if righteousness is preached, and faith is preached, and God’s ability is preached, that is what will be produced in the saints.
RIGHTEOUSNESS BY FAITH
Romans 3:21, “But now the righteousness of God without the law is (revealed) manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; even the righteousness of God which is by faith (Oh, how we want to read that “by works”, but it’s not.) Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference.” Are you a believer? Every believer has been made righteous! That’s what the Word says. Jesus Christ, “the righteousness of God which is by the faith of Jesus Christ, it’s unto all and upon all them that believe, for there is no difference, for all have sinned and come short of the glory of God; being (made righteous) freely,” (Now the King James uses the word “justified”. The word justified, the word in the original language both in Hebrew and Greek can be translated either “just” or “righteous”. That word means “just” and “righteous”. They both are interchangeable. “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God; being made righteous freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.”
Oh, please saints, go to God for a revelation of this. Know that you are righteous. Know that there is nothing between you and God. You have been reconciled to God. Let’s look at verse 26, “To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.” We are just as righteous as Jesus before the Father, and the only reason that we can be that is not because of our conduct, but because of what Jesus did for us us. The Word tells us that we are righteous by faith.
Let’s look at Romans chapter 4 verse 2, “For if Abraham were made righteous by works, he has where of to glory; but not before God. For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness. Now to him that works is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt. But to him that works not – (it’s so plain. Isn’t it?) but believes on him who makes righteous the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.”
So if you feel ungodly, don’t be disheartened. It says that he makes righteous the ungodly. Jesus loves you enough that He became an offering for sin. It’s that simple. Righteousness is based upon our belief in what God has said, not upon our conduct.
I know that the righteousness of God has been preached now for a few years, but most still are sin conscious. We still feel inferior. We still feel that our sin separates us from God. Now I know when I say this that the religious mindset has a hard time with it, but if our sin separates us and keeps us from God, then we are all in a lot of trouble.
A FINISHED WORK
It is the work of Calvary that justifies you and cleanses you and makes you a new creation. The work of Calvary is a finished work. If our works could have made us righteous then why did Jesus go to the cross? Many today are trying to perfect themselves by works and techniques. You can make some improvement on the carnal man through techniques, but Christ in you cannot be improved on. We are complete in Him, in His finished work at Calvary.
“For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.” Rom 8:29-30
This is our security. It is His work. He is working in us to bring us into the awareness of what He has already completed. We keep trying to perfect Adam instead of learning to live by Christ within us.
The book of Hebrews tells us we have a better covenant. The old covenant was based on faith in the coming Messiah, not upon their conduct and efforts, but upon the offerings and the shed blood of the animals. The offerings pointed to the coming of Jesus who would take away sin. Even in the Old Testament sins were only remembered for one year.
And the Apostle Paul says we have a better covenant – Why? – Because your sins aren’t covered anymore, they are forgotten, and they are not even in the mind and heart of God. “For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.“ Heb. 8:12
I have said many times that if you realize the goodness of God, it will lead you to repentance. God has provided a way of escape out of sin, bondage, bad habits and hang-ups, but it’s only through simple belief and confidence in what He says. We all need a deeper revelation of the New Covenant.
What is your righteousness based on? If it’s based upon your conduct, then every time you fail, you will have an inferior feeling. Every time you miss God, you’ll be condemned. But if your righteousness is based upon the Word of God that declares you to be righteous, when you fail you will simply say, “Father I thank you that I’m cleansed by the blood of Jesus. I thank you that you are filling my consciousness full of your righteousness, and I know that I am forgiven.” We simply need to turn to Him when we fail knowing that He does not hold us accountable for our sin. He does not impute sin. He imputes righteousness.
“Even as David also describes the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputes righteousness without works, Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered. Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin”. Rom. 4:6-8
THE POWER OF THE GOSPEL
Let’s look at Romans 1 and verse 16. Paul says, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believes; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
The Greek word salvation is Strongs NT:4991 soteria): from the root word NT:4982 sozo (sode’-zo); which means full deliverance from the curse of the law, which includes, poverty, sickness and death.
The power of the gospel to SAVE in the true sense of the word is not preached much today. Why do people get saved and there seems to be no power for deliverance? Why does the church meet together and there is no power? Deliverance is preached but there’s not much deliverance. Healing is preached, but there’s not much healing. Paul says that the gospel of God is the power of God unto salvation to everyone “That believes.” You see, the church for the most part today, is in a gross darkness of unbelief. Their problem is not their sin. Their problem is their unbelief. Because the enemy in your mind will convince you that you are not righteous before God, because he can point to all of your errors. He can point to all of your hang-ups. He can point to every time you miss God, and convince you in your mind that you will never be righteous before God. Now you may say, “Oh my, that is my problem. I am just full of unbelief.” Well do not despair! All you need to do once you recognize the problem is go to your Father and ask Him to unveil your mind to the truth of righteousness.
Your righteousness must be based upon the Word of the living God so that when you fall, you can turn to your spirit within and speak to the accuser in your mind. You can simply say something like this. “I am the righteousness of God in Christ. The Lord does not impute sin to me, He imputes His righteousness. This thing in my life is a lie. Father I ask for your assistance in dealing with this, and cause your Spirit to arise within me to bring deliverance.”
My experience, if it does not line up with the Word of God is a lie. My experience will line up with the Word of God when I believe the Word of God. I stand upon the Word of God and I will not allow into my consciousness failure, defeat and fear. “For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, ‘The righteous shall live by faith”. Rom. 1:17
In our spirit, our new nature, we do believe. The problem is in our unrenewed mind. Every evil demonic spirit in the universe will try to implant into your mind the lie that the just shall live by their works of righteousness. As long as you listen to the accuser of the brethren in your mind you will always be defeated and fall under the accusations.
THE JUST SHALL LIVE BY FAITH
You don’t have to have any faith in yourself. You need faith in CHRIST. “But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption.” 1 Cor. 1:30 Everything you need is within you. Your spirit is one with His spirit. Begin to speak the truth from your spirit and watch how quickly revelation will come to you.
Romans chapter 10 will tell you how to annihilate your weakness, your inferiority, and your inability to do that which God wants to do in you. The Apostle Paul says, “Brethren, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved. If he were here today, he’d be praying that for the condition of the church right now, because salvation is not just an intellectual head-trip. Salvation is not just to be saved from Hell to go to Heaven. The church today desperately needs to be saved in the full sense of the word. Salvation means deliverance from sin, freed from sickness and demonic oppression. “Brethren, my heart’s desire in prayer to God is that the church might be saved. “For I bear them record that they have a zeal for God, but not according to the proper knowledge. For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.” Rom. 10:2-3. This presents the problem of the church. We fail God miserably, so we try to correct ourselves. We try to perform. We try to justify ourselves by works rather than submitting unto the righteousness of God. How do you submit to God’s righteousness? Again – it’s not conduct! You submit to God’s righteousness by believing what Jesus has said. It’s that simple. You can have a consciousness that’s absolutely free from sin, failure and defeat, if you will only believe the Word of God. “For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believes.” Rom. 10:4. The church for the most part is in a state of unbelief. Because if you believe what God says, you will stand in the righteousness of what the word says, and you will not listen to the accuser of the brethren. You see, every lying, deceiving, conniving spirit, will try to convince you that you are not worthy. And in yourself, in your adamic nature you are not worthy, and will never be worthy; but you don’t have to feel inferior if you know the truth, because our righteousness is in Christ alone. Christ in you is the righteous one. We stand upon His merit, upon His righteousness and upon His works. Christ is the end of the law to everyone that believes.
“The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach.” Rom. 10:8. Paul is telling you, “The righteousness which I’m trying to reveal to you, the righteousness which I’m trying to make you understand as yours, it is as near as your mouth. It is no further from you, than from the words of your lips.” “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” Rom. 10:9.
It is all a matter of believing God. Abraham was counted righteous, not because of his conduct, but because he believed God. “And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sara’s womb: He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; And being fully persuaded that what he had promised, he was able also to perform, and therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness. Now it was not written for his sake alone, that it was imputed to him; But for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead;” Rom. 4:19-24 19;
Abraham did not consider his body as good as dead. Today we look at ourselves and most of us fall under condemnation. Some of us have no hope, because we’ve tried for years to be like God and it doesn’t work. But Abraham looked at his body as good as dead, yet he heard the voice of God, and he said, “God I believe you”. And every time he looked at the stars of heaven, he could see the multitudes of his family. And he said, “I believe God”, and God said, “That man is righteous.” I impute to that man righteousness. I don’t impute to him his sin.”
CONFESSING THE TRUTH
Man’s sin is not revealed in the New Testament, only his victories. “For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth, confession is made unto salvation.” So Paul said, “This is how you get to be righteous. You confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and you believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, and you will be saved.” Paul says it both ways there. He said if you confess with your mouth and you believe in your heart, and then he goes on to say, “If you believe in your heart and confess with your mouth”, because one will produce the other.
There are a lot of people who have picked up on the doctrine of positive confession, and have used it in the flesh trying to make things happen and gain prosperity in a selfish way. They have perverted the truth so that some Christians today are fearful of positive confession. We should never use confession to try to manipulate God for selfish gain. However, you must learn to speak what God has said. That is agreeing with His word.
Suppose you don’t feel righteous. If you don’t feel righteous, it is out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. So the more you speak about your sin and your failure and your inability to do what God wants you to do, the more it establishes you in your sin-consciousness. But if you believe what God says, and you begin to confess, what God says about you, you will soon gain the victory over the accuser in your mind. “Father I thank you that you have made me the righteousness of God. No longer do I listen to the accuser of the brethren. At this time I may not feel like it but thanks to you I no longer believe my feelings of inferiority. I believe your word that declares me to be righteous. I may not totally understand it, but Father I thank you that you do not impute to me my sin, you impute your righteousness.” It’s that simple. You think of yourself, if you will, as sowing seed. The words that you speak are seeds that you plant in your garden. I am a garden. Paul says that the church is a garden. “For we are laborers together with God: ye are God’s husbandry, ye are God’s building.” 1 Cor. 3:9 The word husbandry means a farm (Strongs 1091)
Our soul is a garden. Within our soul grows all the fruit of the Spirit. Love, joy, peace, longsuffering, goodness, meekness and all the loveliness of Christ is coming forth within us.
And so we plant within our consciousness and within our hearts the righteousness of God by declaring what He says to be the truth. It doesn’t matter how I feel. It doesn’t matter how many habits, how many hang-ups, how much sin I’m in. I say, “Father I thank you that my righteousness is based upon the Word of God that says, “In Him I am righteous”. That will strengthen your faith. And then when you believe with your heart, and you confess with your mouth, it establishes you even more in the realities of God. You see, you shouldn’t confess something just because you want it. You have to confess what God has revealed to you until your mind is renewed, and you are believing in your heart. Then you continue to confess what you believe in your heart, and it is a continuous sowing and a reaping within your very own being of the promises and the gifts of God. It comes by absolutely no fleshly effort on your part. You see what a rest this would bring to the church. The people of God are so tired. They have tried everything to feel justified before God. I was so tired because for many years I struggled as a Christian and one day I realized that even in the condition that I was in, I did not have to try and change myself. I just had to realize what God had made me to be, and stand in the reality of His righteousness, and confess with my mouth what I believed to be the truth. The words of your mouth will either create within you godliness or sinfulness. The words of your mouth will either produce in you God-consciousness or sin-consciousness.
Jesus Himself taught the same thing. Look at Matthew 12:35-37. A good man out of the good treasure of the heart brings forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things. But I say unto you, that every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the Day of Judgment. For by thy words thou shall be justified, and by thy words thou shall be condemned.
The Lord’s people feel the need to work for Him to maintain their acceptance before Him. This is a religious spirit that will always drive you to try to work your way into God’s righteousness. It doesn’t come that way. “For by thy words thou shalt be justified (be made righteous), and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.”
Oh how I pray that the people of God get a revelation of this. Do you realize that you can change your experience by believing God and confessing what you believe to be the truth? I can’t get away from confession. When I first had a revelation of this, only my family knows the condition that I was in, and they only know part of it. I never revealed to anybody the state that I was in when I began to see this truth.
I simply made a choice to begin to believe God instead of my condition. Something on the inside of me began to stir when I began to speak the truth. I stopped talking and thinking about my wretched condition. I said, “This has got to be it.” I’ve tried for years to make myself righteous, and it doesn’t work. I began to believe God and confess, “God has made me righteous.” Because of Calvary I stand cleared and forgiven of my condition. This was a marvelous experience.
After trying for years to be a good Christian, how can you fathom that it doesn’t come that way? “Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost.” Titus 3:5
The only thing that works for us is to believe what God has declared to be so. “For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness.” Rom. 4:3
If you are believing and acting upon the Word of God it brings to you your deliverance and your righteousness. You will begin to experientially walk in righteousness.
“For by thy words you shall be justified (be made righteous), and by thy words you shall be condemned.” You need to write this down until you think of it a hundred times a day. Begin to pay attention to what you are saying;
The words that you speak will be full of faith and power and ability, or your words will be full of fear, inferiority, and weakness. By your words you will control every facet of your life. No matter what you are trying to do in your life, listen to what you are saying. Because whatever you are saying will bring to you the experience of it. This is why Christianity is such a mess. For years they have been taught an inferior consciousness. They have believed wrong and confessed wrong for years and this has produced a bunch of people trying to work their way into holiness instead of believing that the work was finished at Calvary.
God’s principles never fail. “For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.” Matt. 12:34B
The things of God are always a matter of our heart. If your heart believes wrong, then you are speaking wrong, so you need to repent, change your way of thinking and your way of speaking. Examine your heart. Do you really believe what God has said about you or do you believe the lies of the carnal mind? You need to forget about perfecting your adamic nature and learn to release Christ from your spirit. Begin to speak the truth from your spirit rather than agreeing with the enemy in your mind.
Can you imagine the joy God’s people would experience when they come together if everyone practiced this? When we come together we would realize that our righteousness and acceptance with God is not based upon our conduct. The reason we come together sometimes and feel the heaviness and are just not able to break through to God is because of sin-consciousness. You feel like, “I can’t praise God today. I’ve failed here and I’ve failed there, and I haven’t sensed God all week.” That’s not how you get into God’s presence. When we come together we realize we are righteous because God says we are righteous. We enter His presence, not because of our conduct, but because Jesus has declared us to be righteous before the Father. Romans 4:25 says that Jesus “Was delivered for our offenses, (He was delivered up for our trespasses. He was delivered up because of our sin) and was raised again for our righteousness.” He took away sin, and we were declared righteous, not because we did anything to deserve it, not because you were willing to pray everyday, and read your Bible everyday, and do good and give money to the poor. You were declared righteous because of Calvary. You are righteous, not because you deserve it, but “because the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all” Isa. 53:6
Jesus made you righteous. Let’s look at Romans 5:17, 19. “For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and the gift of righteousness shall reign in life.” You see if you receive the gift of righteousness, you will begin to reign, but in HIS life, not in your old adamic life. Verse 19, “For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.” Just as you identify with your adamic nature, in your weakness and sinfulness and your inability, you need to turn around and begin to identify with the one who gave you His righteousness, His peace, His ability, His comfort, His strength and everything that you need. When you identify with the new creation man that you are in your spirit, God once again begins to live His life in humanity. Christ in you will take over your adamic nature and conform you into His image. Glory to God!
WE ARE A NEW CREATION
Let’s look again at II Corinthians chapter 5 verse 17. “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creation old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” That’s the Word of the living God – if ANY man is in Christ. Paul says in verse 20. “Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God.” Don’t stay separated from God. Don’t allow a separation to come to your consciousness. Be reconciled to God. Receive the gift of righteousness. You say, “How do I do that? I want to.” You receive righteousness as a gift by believing what God has said. God says you are righteous.
II Corinthians 5:21, “For he hath made Him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him.” On the cross of Calvary, Jesus became an offering for sin. All of creation was placed in Christ. At the cross the old creation was terminated. Every bit of suffering, every pain, every sorrow, every sickness, every disease, everything negative in the whole universe came to an end at the cross. He took away your sinful nature so that you could receive His righteous nature.
And that’s why the gospel is the power of God unto salvation, deliverance, freedom from bondage, and health and healing for our bodies, because it is all provided for in the new creation. We are not poor, beggarly, weak worms of the earth. Christ dwells in us by the power of His Spirit.
I’ve heard the saying many times, “We are not old sinners saved by grace. We were old sinners, and we were saved by grace, but now we are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus.” God imputes to me His righteousness. I may feel full of sin, inferiority, and weakness, but He imputes to me His righteousness. And I say, “Thank you Father. I’m so glad that I don’t have to look at this sin in my life.” Don’t misunderstand me. I’m not saying that it’s OK for you to sin. I’m saying, don’t look at it. You look to the Word of God. You receive from God His righteousness. You realize that the new birth is something that comes to you not from yourself, but came to you from another realm. The new birth is nothing less than the life of God being awakened in you and you become a brand-new person, a new creation man. You are the righteousness of God in Christ. You no longer have a sinful nature. You’ve had a nature change. And that’s why it’s so hard for you as a Christian to live in sin, because it’s not your nature anymore to do that. The flesh-still wants to sin, and before the mind is renewed, it is full of the old carnal thinking, but you have had a nature change on the inside of you, and you will never again be happy living a life of sin NEVER!
The nature of God in you will never allow you to be happy living a life of sin. And when you realize what has happened to you, and you realize that you can receive the life of God and the righteousness of God, not by conduct but by believing God, it will set you free from that old religious mindset.
Hebrews 2:14 “Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil.”
The church’s greatest problem in this day and this hour is unbelief. Most believe what they experience in the carnal realm rather than what the Word says. For years I believed I was a failure, because of my experience. That is not what God says. God does not re-create adamic natures. He gives you a new life and nature. So therefore, if any man is in Christ, he is a brand-new creation. He destroyed him that had the power of death. This is more just physical. Death is that separation in your consciousness from God. In your adamic consciousness you and God are two separate beings. You can never be one with God in your carnal nature. That nature was finished at the cross. Jesus destroyed him that had the power of death. The power of death is the serpent in your mind keeping you blinded to the reality of God in your spirit. The power of death only works in the carnal mind.
The only thing that can cause you to feel spiritual death, which is simply separation from God, is sin-consciousness. You are so conscious of your failure and your sin and your weakness. That’s the only thing that can keep you in death. But Jesus destroyed him who had the power of death, and delivered them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage. No longer are we subject to bondage.
When you receive the consciousness of God’s righteousness, you will be as bold as a lion. You won’t walk in a hospital room and be timid and be afraid that you might offend somebody or that you have got to be careful about talking about Jesus. The Righteous are as bold as a lion. If you have the consciousness of being as righteous as Jesus is, that means that there are no demons that can stand in your presence, there is no sickness, and there is no disease that can stand in your presence. I know that what I am saying is true, It may not be our experience but that does not nullify the Word of God. That’s how man gets into philosophy and into religion; he waters down the Word of God because he doesn’t experience it. He says, “I’ve prayed for the sick and they don’t get healed, so God must not be doing that today. I don’t see any Apostles and Prophets, so there must not be any today.” That’s not what God’s Word says.
God’s Word says that the believers, not the preachers, and not the Five-Fold ministry, but the believers shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. Yet the systemized church believes more in sickness than they believe in the ability to lay hands on the sick and see them recover. The church believes more in curses than they believe in blessings. We believe in sickness more than we believe in the ability of God to heal. We believe in poverty more than we believe in the provision of Jehovah Jireh.
Thank God that we are getting a revelation of the truth. Jesus has destroyed him who had the power of death. The devil has been destroyed, and the only power and ability that he has is that which you give him in your own mind and life. You give him power by agreeing with your carnal mind that you could never live as Jesus lived on the earth, yet the scriptures say that “As He is so are we in this world.
The more you confess your weakness and your sin and your inability to do what God says, the more you solidify your sin-consciousness and separate yourself experientially from God. Stop confessing what your carnal mind tells you. Speak only that which is true according to the word of God. The Word of God says the blood of Jesus cleanses me from every sin. Therefore, if I have bondages in my life, if I have a hang-up I have not overcome, I’m not even going to talk about it. I’m not going to look at my sin, I am going to look away unto Him who is the author and the finisher of my faith. “For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are sanctified.” Heb.10:14
Righteousness by faith has been lost to the masses of Christianity, but praise the Lord that in these days God is recovering us back to the living and abiding word of God, which is able to save our souls and bring us into conformity to a son of God.
THE VOICE OF THE BRIDE
And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely. Rev. 22:17
One of the things that will happen when we have a revelation of righteousness is that we will collectively become the voice of the bride.
Where is the voice of the bride today? We hear the voice of the Apostle, the Prophet, the Evangelist and the Teacher, but I have to ask, where is the voice of the bride? Most today sit in a church always listening to the pastor/teacher but never hearing the bride. God wants to be expressed in a corporate body. In the beginning we were made in the likeness and image of God. How do we express ourselves? We express ourselves mainly by words. Without words there is not much expression.
If you never said anything, you could sit in my presence from morning till evening, and it would be very difficult to discern you. However if you speak with me for a while I can begin to discern where you are in your spiritual experience. Your words express what you feel and believe on the inside. Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. You speak what you believe. Your words are your expression.
We are new creation men and women so that we might be the fullness of His expression, that we might open our mouth and reveal the hidden mysteries and the secrets of the Kingdom of God. Oh that man would learn that he is an expression of the divine life and nature. The Spirit and the bride say, “Come”.
Paul said to the Corinthians, “You were not lead away unto dumb idols.” 1 Cor 12:2. Dumb idols never speak. False gods and idols – fill your house with them; they never have anything to say. Our God is a speaking God. Hebrews chapter 1 says, “God hath in these last days spoken unto us in His Son.” A better translation is that He has spoken unto us in the very person of His Son, He was the brightness and the full expression and the image of His Father God. God speaks and reveals through the spoken word, which was manifested in His Son. The Spirit and the bride say, “Come”. When the church understands the relationship that it has with God, you’ll begin to hear more and more the voice of the bride. If we come together, and all we hear is the Apostle, the Prophet, the Evangelist, and the Teacher, we fall short of what God designed for man. You are an express image of God, if you have been born of God; you have within you the indestructible, uncreated life and nature of your Father God, and you are on this earth for the express purpose of giving Him expression through you.
TWO KINDS OF MEETINGS
There are at least two different kinds of meetings for the people of God. There is the teaching or training meeting where the leading ones minister the word and everyone else listens. This is the kind of meetings most Christians are familiar with. These meetings are very necessary as this is where we hear the fathers speak and minister the living word to the Church. Some who have left the religious system feel that this kind of meeting is no longer necessary. However in these meetings the Lord is dispensed in a very living way to the saints and will build them up in the faith so that they can minister to one another.
The second kind of meeting most are not familiar with, and that is when the saints come together and each one is encouraged to share their experiences in the Lord. This is where the voice of the bride is developed. This is not a meeting where it is a free for all but each one can flow in the Lord in telling of their experiences of the Lord in their daily life. These should not be preaching meetings where everyone gets on the bandwagon to preach. No! These meetings are for the expression of each one’s experience of the Lord. You see, if you are a normal Christian, you will be seeking God in your daily life and will begin to experience Him and then you bring these experiences to the meeting to share with one another. If we had these kinds of meetings, then when the leading ones come together to speak to the Church then everyone would not feel like they have to speak also. The problem is that they are not given the opportunity to speak at all. I do not mean to imply that whenever the leading ones get together for a conference that no one else should speak. In all things we must be led of the Lord.
COME AND FEAST
God’s people today are beginning to wake up to the reality of being a new creation. The light in the church is going to become so bright that people will either run to the light where their deeds may be exposed and be cleansed and set right in the Kingdom of God, or they will turn away and be cast into outer darkness. Remember the wedding feast – the parable – that there was a man there with no wedding garment. All things are now ready. Everything is ready. All things – there is nothing left to be prepared for you to feast, and for us to sit down together in the glory of God and feast as a bride feasts with her husband. You do not need to wait. If you wait, you may miss it. All things are now ready, and we can sit down and we can feast together at the wedding table of the Lamb – right now. But you see you must have the robe of His righteousness. You must know clearly and have an understanding that it’s not based upon your conduct and your righteousness, but it’s based upon God’s righteousness, it’s based upon belief in His ability to cleanse you. And you sit and feast with the robe of His righteousness. You must realize that the devil has no right to condemn you, because every time the accuser would accuse you, you can point to the righteousness of Jesus Christ and you can say with full assurance of faith, “I stand not on my merit, but I’m robed in the righteousness of my Father God.”
God does not say you have to be perfect. He does not say to sit at His table you must pray ten hours a day and do all the mighty religious deeds and works, no! He said; “It is the man that is robed in my righteousness.” If you are not robed in His righteousness, then you get cast into outer darkness
I believe one of the greatest needs in the church today, is an understanding of the righteousness of God, because without it you are in the same class as an unbeliever. Without an unveiling of God’s life in you, you can never know righteousness in reality.
You are just as righteous as you will ever be before God. There is no growth in righteousness. There is only a further understanding or unveiling of God’s righteousness, of what He has already made you to be. You can grow in understanding more fully His righteousness, and by your understanding being enlightened to His righteousness; it will produce the fruits of righteousness, which is holiness. But holiness does not come the way we’ve tried. The “Holiness movement” never made one person righteous. Nothing you can do can produce righteousness by human effort.
For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness. Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt. But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. Rom 4:3-8 KJV
The opposite, of course, of a righteousness conscience is a sin-consciousness. The state of being where you feel separated from God. You do not sense your oneness with God, but you are very aware of your sin. You are very aware of your lack. You are very aware of your inability to do that which you want to do
Sin-consciousness is that state where you can want with all your heart to please God, and yet you find within your members that sin-consciousness, the sense of being separated, the sense of failure, the sense of fear. “Oh I would love to be able to pray in a meeting, but I feel so inferior.” That is sin-consciousness, and that will rob from you and steal from you everything that God wants you to have. Sin-consciousness destroys faith. How can you have faith to believe for anything from God, if you feel inferior, if you are so aware of your sin and your shortcomings? It creates an inferiority complex. “I would love to be able to stand and share at a meeting, but I can’t.” “I wish I had the boldness to share the gospel with people but I can’t.” I wish I could be a better person, but I can’t.” That is sin-consciousness.
Sin-consciousness destroys your peace with God. Because of it you are conscious of your sin and your failure all the time, and it robs you. How could you have peace with God, knowing that you are such a failure? Now when you understand righteousness, it doesn’t mean that you never fail. It doesn’t mean that you never miss God, but you don’t have that consciousness of always failing. You have the exact opposite.
The opposite of sin-consciousness is God-consciousness. You are aware of your oneness and unity with your Father God, just as Jesus was. You realize that in your spirit, (the new creation man) there is no separation between you and your Father. Was there any separation between Jesus and His Father? Neither is there in you, except in your carnal mind. Your sin-consciousness robs you of your peace with God. There is no peace – Isaiah says – to the wicked. Sin-consciousness makes us feel unworthy. How many Christians ever come to a meeting, and feel worthy to have the joy of God come upon them and flow from within them? Very few Christians ever meet together on Sunday morning, or any other time, with a sense of worthiness. It’s always a sense of unworthiness. “I’ve failed God so miserably. I’ve missed God so many times this week, and I have a sense of unworthiness.” So when we come together, there is no real joy. There is no real expression. There is no real release of the spirit. There is just a sense of unworthiness. Sin-consciousness is the biggest enemy that the church of the living God has today.
Sin-consciousness makes your prayers ineffectual. The scripture says, “The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.” But if you do not have that consciousness, if you do not know that you are a righteous man, if you have the sense of unworthiness and weakness and failure, your prayers will not avail much. God only answers the prayer that is prayed with the consciousness of His righteousness. You want to know why the church is weak today, why the church has no power today, why the church can meet together and nothing happens? It is because of sin-consciousness. We act like the crucifixion and resurrection was nothing more than a good story, and that someday if we are really good and we say our prayers and we go to church, that we’ll die and go to heaven; and then we’ll have that close relationship with our Father God. It is a lying, deceiving spirit that would try to make you believe that. Man has tried to cure sin consciousness through religion, but it has only become worse. Man has tried everything possible throughout the years to rid himself of this sin-consciousness, of this consciousness on the inside of him that is contrary to God. Man has tried every religion in the world and those religions have been based upon man’s sin-consciousness, of trying to do something to right himself with God.
Every man has a desire, a drive within him to fill himself up. And that’s why many use drugs and any number of things, including the enjoyment of the world; men are trying to fill the emptiness inside them. A feeling of emptiness is nothing short of sin-consciousness, and feeling separated from God.
Man has also tried to cure this disease by confession. Confession will not destroy your sin-consciousness. Confess if you will, a hundred times a day, and receive forgiveness, but you will still have a sin-consciousness. You will still have a sense of, “I confess it today, but I know tomorrow or the next day or next week, or next month it is going to get me again.” That is sin-consciousness. And you will never have the peace of God in fullness with that consciousness. The church does not have the peace of God in the true sense of the word because of sin-consciousness. Man has tried to deal with sin-consciousness by doing good deeds, by self-denial, the confessing of his sins. All of these things will at most bring a temporary relief to your consciousness – very temporary. Confession will bring you a temporary relief. But you still have that consciousness of weakness, of failure, of knowing, “Dear God, it’s going to get me again.” Anyone who has ever put any effort at all to the Christian life will have the experience before coming out of bondage of Romans chapter seven, struggling, trying everything known to man, whether it is self-denial, good works, prayer, Bible study, or going to church. Try anything you will, but according to the apostle Paul in the book of Galatians, by the works of the flesh shall no man be made righteous in the sight of God. Yet if you have a proper understanding of God’s righteousness which is imputed to you as a gift, it will produce in you all of the fruits of holiness effortlessly, freely, without any struggle or any striving. Of course this is a matter of growth in His life.
TWO KINDS OF SIN CONSCIOUSNESS
There are two kinds of sin-consciousness; one belongs to the unregenerate. The other belongs to a Christian who is still a baby in Christ. You may say, “What are you saying? You are putting almost every believer in the class of a baby.” You cannot possibly grow much in Christ until you KNOW you are righteous. You must believe that God justifies the ungodly and then you can have hope for yourself. Unless we hear the truth of righteousness, unless there is someone who can stand up and declare these things the Church will not come out of the darkness. The day is dawning where we must have a consciousness of being unable to fail, a consciousness of having no fear in the face of sickness and disease and death. The day has come when the voice of the bride must be heard all over the land.
Let’s look at Ephesians 2:12. This is the man that has a sin-consciousness, because of his separation from God. Paul says to the Ephesians, “That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the common wealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world.” Now if you are in that condition today, you certainly do have a sin-consciousness. You are without hope. If you do not have Christ, you have no hope. Jesus said to the Pharisees, “You are of your father the devil.” Were not the Jews God’s people? But Jesus said, “You are of your father the devil”, because words express what you are. And your Father is the source of your life. You receive life from your Father. And if you are speaking words of failure, and words of your inability, and words of your inferiority, you are identifying with your father the devil, and speaking from your carnal nature. Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks. If you speak defeat and failure and identify with that, you line yourself up with your father the devil.
There are those who say, “Brother, I’d love to be able to give a testimony in the meeting, but you don’t understand. I feel so nervous and I just can’t do it.” There was a time several years ago, that when I’d stand up in a meeting and give a testimony, I’d shake, my knees would knock, and the expression that I’d give would not come out right; but I also knew how to overcome. And you overcome by applying and practicing what you know to be the truth. I want to receive my life from my Father God. I want to give Him expression on this earth. What a testimony to the all-saving power and the grace of God, when we say, “Oh I just can’t do that I can’t possibly overcome.” You see when you have a revelation of righteousness you realize that it is not for the carnal man. You will never change by trying to renew the carnal mentality. You are a new creation man or woman and that man or woman is the righteousness of God. The scriptures do not say that signs only follow the Apostle and the Prophet and the Evangelist and the Teacher. The signs shall follow the believer. If you are a believer, the signs follow you. You have the anointing within you. If you want to have the anointing of God flow from you, then learn to speak the words of God! If you speak the words of the devil from your carnal mind, that’s where your source of life is coming from. Do not think that you can be a Christian and not receive your life-source from the satanic life. The Christian religious system is full of the manifestation of the satanic life – weakness, powerless, ineffectual to preach the gospel, deader than a stinking doornail, and they feel justified because, “Well after all, I’m only human.”
Don’t let this message condemn you. Let this message be information for transformation. God knows the religious system has heaped condemnation upon His people. This word will not condemn you. This word will bring light and transformation, not condemnation. If any man is in Christ, there is therefore now no condemnation. If you are in Christ, no one has the right to try to heap condemnation upon you. But at the same time, don’t try to hide from the truth. Don’t try to act grown up when you are immature. Don’t be so full of pride that you get offended when someone calls you a “spiritual baby”, because if you are not doing the works of your Father God, you are either unregenerate or you are a baby in the things of God. Now we don’t expect babies to act like a man, and it’s OK to be in the church and be a baby. However we should be growing in grace and in the knowledge of the truth.
Ephesians 2 verse 1, “And you hath He made alive who were dead in trespasses and sins; wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience.
The apostle Paul says in Ephesians chapter four, “Don’t be like the Gentiles anymore.” You were at one time alienated and separated in your mind by wicked works. You did have your manner of living after the traditions of your fathers, and after the course of this world, after the prince of the power of the air, “The spirit that now works in the children of disobedience.” If you do not walk in the light of this Word, the spirit of the devil can work and operate in your life due to the hardness of your heart and the blinding of your mind. “Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others”. Eph 2:3
ALL WERE MADE RIGHTEOUS
The carnal mind is full of the nature of the devil – the satanic life. Natural man – the man without Christ – is spiritually dead. Look at Romans 5:19. “For as by one man’s disobedience, many were made sinners.” I’ve often shared, “you had no choice in it.” You were made, you were constituted with sin, and Adam took you into sin and slavery. You had no choice. I used to say to God, “God it’s not fair. I didn’t ask to be born with these lusts and these evil desires. I didn’t ask to be born separated from the presence of God.” I was constituted; I was made a sinner by Adam’s transgression, because every seed produces after its own kind. I had no choice. Adam received the life of the devil. He had a choice of receiving the divine life through the Tree of Life or the satanic nature through the knowledge of the Tree of Good and Evil, and he made the wrong choice not you. The church knows these things that I’m sharing with you. They have knowledge of God, yet they haven’t had the proper teaching and the proper care to teach them how to express what they have on the inside. We were by nature the children of wrath. We couldn’t help it! It was our nature before regeneration. But the scripture also says, “So by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.”
A simple explanation of this verse is this. By one man’s disobedience, (Adam) all were made sinners. Everyone that is born receives the biological inheritance from Adam so that death and sin passed to the whole human race. That is your DNA from the physical birth. That is the carnal man. The consciousness of only being a carnal being will never allow us to be as Jesus on the earth, always doing the will of the Father. WE MUST STOP TRYING TO CHANGE THE NATURAL MAN. We are a new creation man/woman in our spirit. We must begin to live from our spirit.
So also by the obedience of one (Jesus) all were made righteousness. This is your spiritual genetics and DNA, which is passed on to you in your spirit. “He that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.” 1 Cor 6:17
WALKING IN THE REALITY OF RIGHTEOUSNESS
Jesus Christ restored to mankind what he lost in the garden, a total and complete restoration. Don’t wait until you die. The Word of God teaches you that right now you have the ability to walk into the Father’s presence at anytime, without any sense of sin, guilt, inferiority, or any sin-consciousness whatsoever. Has God really provided a way to rid man of this horrible, horrible disease, this disease of sin-consciousness, of always being aware of being a failure? God has provided a way. And it’s as much the Word of God as salvation. Hebrews chapter 10 tells the story of the old blood covenant, saying that the blood of bulls and goats could only cover sin. The blood of bulls and goats could never take away sin. It only covered sin. In the Old Testament, you could be forgiven for your sin, but that old sinful nature could not be eradicated from your being. Yours sins were only covered. The law was given until the seed came that could receive the promise of life by faith and not by works. How could God solve the problem of man’s sinful nature? The only way it could be possible is by giving him a consciousness free of sin. Now Hebrews chapter 10 tells you that “The blood of bulls and goats could not take away sin, but the offering of the body of Jesus Christ has perfected forever them that are sanctified”. If you read Hebrews chapter 8, 9 and 10, and get into it and study it, it will reveal to you that man right now can stand without any sense of guilt, sin, inferiority, weakness or inability to live Godly. That’s what Hebrews 8,9 and 10 will teach you, that we are not under an old covenant anymore. You don’t even have to be conscious of your sins and your failure. Again, I’m not teaching you theory; I’m teaching you as one who has developed this consciousness of oneness with God. No, I haven’t perfected it, and I’m not very much grown in it, but I do not any longer have a sense of failure and inability to do what God would have me to do. I have a consciousness of being able to do anything that God desires me to do. My only requirement is “God, you speak to me, and I know that it’s you, I will do anything that you want me to do;” I won’t be lead by my reasoning. I won’t be lead by my good thinking. I won’t be lead by some “dingbat” prophecy. But if I know its God, there is no devil and no demon that can stop me from doing what God wants me to do. That’s the only reason I’m still in ministry, because I know God hath said and what God says, He brings to pass.
There is a responsibility. Don’t ever let anybody tell you that the Christian does not have a responsibility. Some think that, “Oh if I just sit back, and if God never does it, it will never get done.” No, you have a responsibility. I used to believe that a Christian had no responsibility. But if you sit idly by and wait for the Spirit to move you – well I could use the term “good luck” because you are going to need it. One of the first thing that Jesus said to the Apostle Paul was, “Arise and stand upon your feet, He said, “You will turn many from darkness into light.” What if Paul just kicked back and said, “Oh, I know I can’t do anything because I’m just human. I’ll just wait and if God moves me. I will do something” Do you know that’s why Smith Wigglesworth was the powerful man of God that he was? He said, “I wait and if the Spirit of God doesn’t move me, I move the Spirit of God.” God told the Old Testament saints under the old covenant, “Thus saith the LORD, the Holy One of Israel, and his Maker, Ask me of things to come concerning my sons, and concerning the work of my hands command ye me.” Isa 45:11
AUTHORITY IN THE SPIRIT
He gave them authority, even in the Old Testament. We’ve lost some of the understanding of the Word due to the translation in the King James, but the word that says, “If you abide in me and my words abide in you, you may ask what you will.” John 15:7. The word, “ask” if you look up the root word (Strongs 4441) means, “to demand”. Do you know you don’t have to ask the Father for anything? Did Jesus? No! He knew the will of the Father and he just spoke. Jesus said, “Hither to, you’ve asked nothing. You ask in My name, and I will give it to you. My Father will give to you.” It’s time for the Christians to stand up and demand their rights, according to the scriptures. “I am the righteousness of God in Christ and I command this sin consciousness to leave me.” If the church will take this Word they will find their freedom. All the hoards of darkness couldn’t keep Jesus in the pits of Hell. He arose from the grave, stripped off principalities and powers, made a show of them openly, triumphing over them in the cross and you can do the same thing, not so that you can look at Him as some super-human. Don’t misunderstand me, but the Word says He was the first-born. He was the first-born of the new creation. He became the first born among many brethren. Where has the church been? In religion. Trying to appease God through works. I’ll tell you, I did it! For years I prayed every day – hours sometimes. I used to cry, “God, am I ever going to win?” But when the blinders came off what liberty I found. God just said something to me really simple one day. He said, “Why are you trying so hard to become something that I’ve already made you to be? Why are you trying so hard? Just believe me. Read my Word and just believe me.” And after I saw that, the first message I ever preached in the church was a message entitled “Beholding and Reflecting.” I’ll never forget. I was so much on fire with this thing, and I believed it because I did it. Behold in the Word of God, that which God says that you are – Think about it. Meditate on it. Speak it day and night, and it will be yours. You see, it doesn’t come by works of righteousness that we have done.
Before I experienced God’s righteousness by faith, I prayed sometimes for two hours everyday. I read my Bible everyday. I went to church sometimes six times a week, and I still had a sin-consciousness. I still felt weak. I was still very much aware of my sin and my failure. But when I had my eyes unveiled – my family could tell you, I literally became a new man very quickly. Within about three months, I went from a miserable Romans 7 experience into the glorious liberation of a child and a son of God.
I was a baby when I found this out. I was a Christian; but I began to grow and I began to walk in the things of God. I began to believe the Word of God. How can we stay in fear and darkness when He said, “He hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son.” Col. 1:13
WE HAVE A NEW NATURE
God satisfies the emptiness in you by taking out of you that old nature. Christians don’t understand this. Because of our experience we think that we have two natures. I was taught for a long time that even after I was regenerated I had sin in my flesh, the devil in my soul, and God in my spirit. No wonder I was so confused! Do you know, that if you have the devil in you and God in you at the same time, you have two fathers? Would God do that kind of a work? Would God save you and then leave you in that kind of a condition? And I used to wonder, “Let’s see now. I gave a testimony. Was that out of my spirit, or was that out of my soul or was that just something devilish out of my flesh?” How could you ever have any confidence in God with that mentality? That’s not the Word. That’s religion. That’s philosophy. You know what philosophy is? It’s reasonings. Philosophy will give you all the reasons that you need to justify your condition. “I’m just human. What do you think I am, God?” If you understand what God has given you – His life, His character, His nature. He has given us a new heart and put His Spirit in us and we now are as He is in this world. It’s time that the Church realizes that we are NOT MERE HUMANS. WHAT DID WE RECEIVE WHEN WE RECEIVED GOD’S NATURE?
THE RESURRECTED SPIRIT OF JESUS CHRIST
There were basically seven elements – seven divine elements in the resurrected Spirit of God. In resurrection the Word tells us that Jesus became a “Life-giving Spirit. 1 Cor. 15:45. Now, what He gives to you, of course, is His Spirit that contains all that He is. But what is that? Everything that God is was given to you by this life-giving Spirit, which has imparted to you basically seven elements of His being.
I did share something on this in book 7 of “Coming Out of Darkness,” but I will comment on them again here.
1. Divine Life “According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue.” II Peter 1:3 Does that look like that He created some weak, beggarly worms of the dust? ” – That ye might be a partaker of the divine nature.” What is the divine nature that you have within you? If you realize it, you will walk in it.
2. Incarnation. The Christian is the incarnation of the Word of God. Peter says, “Being born again not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the living and abiding Word of God.” 1 Peter 1:23 The Word again becomes flesh in you, when you receive that Word as it is, the Word of God. That Word in you creates life. Every time someone is born again, the Word becomes flesh, the incarnation. The resurrected Spirit of the living God today has, of course, the divine life. All that God is is contained in that life. All that God is He has placed within you.
3. The Uplifted Humanity of Jesus In the Life Giving Spirit is Christ in His humanity – His human living. God literally went through a change when He took on humanity. He became something that He never was before. He became humanity. He became a human being. All of His experiences in this life, His conquering the devil, calming the storms, healing the sick and raising the dead; His human living is now in the resurrected Spirit of Jesus Christ. In our spirit is His fine uplifted humanity.
4. His Death Jesus went into death. We all know the story. His death brought to an end the Old Creation. I don’t care what you experience, the scripture teaches you that upon the cross the Old Creation was terminated. I’ll tell you what folks. You don’t even have to wait for a new heaven and a new earth. Now don’t misunderstand me. They are coming. There will be a new heaven and a new earth in fullness, but I’m telling you, you don’t have to wait for it. The Old Creation came to an end at the cross. The all-inclusive death of Jesus Christ took into the grave sin, death, Hell, sickness, separation, and everything negative in the universe came to an end at the cross of Calvary.
5. His Resurrection “Know ye not that if the Spirit of Him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, then He that raised up Christ from the dead shall also give life to your mortal bodies.” Rom. 8:11 The resurrected Spirit of Christ now abides in us. How could we possibly be failures when we have a revelation of this? By experiencing this resurrected spirit in our spirit we are able to abide in Him.
6. His Ascension. Jesus is “Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come:“ Eph. 1:21 There is not a higher name or position in all the universe than that of the exalted, ascended, resurrected Lord Jesus Christ. When you touch your spirit which is one with His spirit you rise above sin and death.
7. His Enthronement. “And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: Eph. 2:6 Here is where our authority is. In spirit we are seated with him and we learn to rule from the heavens.
“For in him dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily. And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power. Col. 2:9-10
Don’t you think it’s time for the church to wake up? Instead of centering on these things, instead of meditating on these things, instead of sitting in the presence of God and enjoying the benefits of the Life Giving Spirit, most look at their earthly existence and suffer defeat and failure. Everything that’s in the resurrected Spirit of Jesus Christ today has been poured out upon the church. “For He made Him to be head over all things to the church.” Eph 1:22. We sit around and complain, and bicker, and bite one another, and thrust one another through, and wonder why the church is in the condition that it’s in. When are we going to wise up? His strength – not mine – His strength is made perfect in my weakness. “Oh I just can’t do it brother. I try. It’s so hard.” Trying doesn’t get it. God never asked you to try. He said, “I placed My life within you. Now GO. All authority in heaven and earth is given unto me. Go ye therefore and make disciples.” Don’t go out and try to get the world saved – make disciples. What good is salvation without the full knowledge of the truth? What good is salvation unless you know the full benefits of salvation? Oh, I’m not saying it’s not good. Don’t misunderstand me. The greatest thing in the world is to be saved, but if all you can give someone is to get them saved and wait to go to heaven when they die, what an injustice. We are to preach the word of reconciliation and make disciples.
I used to not want to preach the gospel; I’d think it would make somebody like me so miserable. I was like the children of Israel; I wanted to go back to Egypt. I’d say, “God, it was much easier for me.” I was a happy-go-lucky person. I loved to “party”. I had a good time. Then all of the sudden I got saved and met God and tried to serve Him, and I was miserable. But I didn’t have anybody telling me the truth like we are hearing it in these days. Would to God that I’d heard this years ago. Because when I heard it, it changed my life. For years I had a consciousness of failure after failure after failure. Trying to quite this habit and that habit and going absolutely crazy, until I couldn’t stand it anymore, and giving into it, and then confessing and then eventually doing it again. It was just a vicious circle. That is not the abundant life that Jesus gave to us. But neither, can you produce this with your efforts no matter how bad you want to. You pray 24 hours a day. You will still have a sin-consciousness. You have to realize that what God says is true, and you begin to meditate on these things. Today I absolutely love to preach the gospel of good news, it is the power of God unto salvation of the whole man.
Seven elements in the resurrected Christ that was poured out on the day of Pentecost and received by you simply by saying, “Lord, I receive the word of Your resurrection life. I don’t have to work for it. I don’t have to strive for it. I simply receive it.” And then all the lying reasonings of my mind will come in and prove to me beyond a shadow of a doubt that what I’m believing for, I can never have. But I have it! “Be renewed in the spirit of your mind.”
When you take the time to study God’s Word and meditate on these things and begin to express by your words what you really want – Jesus said, “Whatsoever things you desire when you pray believe and you will receive them.” – What do you desire? Do you desire to be weak, and beggarly, and a failure? Whatsoever things you desire – – Don’t come to God even with those weaknesses. I used to do this. I used to tell God all the time what a failure I was – “God, I’m just an old lousy smoker, and God I just do this, and God I just love to do that.” He doesn’t want to hear that. He wants to hear you say what He has given unto you. I hope this is not misunderstood, but I don’t confess my sin. I confess His righteousness. I’m not saying I don’t sin. But I don’t even hold that up to Him, because I’m walking in the light. The Word says that, “If you walk in the light as He is in the light, the blood of Jesus Christ cleanses you from every sin.” 1 John 1:7 The more I used to confess my sin to God, the more it solidified that experience in my life. God doesn’t want to hear it. I hope this isn’t misunderstood because I never try to hide my sin. I never did. But I’d say, “God, I know what Your Word says, and I believe that even now you are cleansing me from this thing.” I would say, “God, even though I still have these hang-ups and things in my life, I know that I know, that it is only by the word of Your righteousness being established in my consciousness that I will be set free.” No amount of works and no amount of confessing, no amount of trying to do penance, and no amount of trying to ease your conscience will work. The only thing that will bring rest to you is to be established in the word of His righteousness.
He says, “I have already made you righteous.” There is nothing that can separate you ever again from My presence, but your unbelief in My finished work. If you believe you are unworthy, if you don’t believe in My ability to cause you to stand, then you will never experience my peace in fullness.
In Jude verse 24 Amplified, “Now unto Him Who is able to keep you without stumbling or slipping or falling, and to present you unblemished, blameless and faultless before the presence of His glory in triumphant joy and exultation with unspeakable, ecstatic delight.” And that is in this present life. That is not for the life to come. That is for right now. So Father, I pray that you will enlighten our minds with these words. Father, I pray – knowing that Your anointing is on Your Word, and Your Word has gone forth, and it brings the light, the establishment of your righteousness and the ability to perform that which You have spoken, and we thank you for that in Jesus Name.
There is a song I sing at times in my private time with the Lord, which was written many years ago. One of the verses says, “Dear Lamb of God, thy precious blood will never lose its power till all the ransomed ones of God be saved to sin no more.” Some of “the old hymns” are the most precious songs we could sing in these days. Many times I have gone out alone with my hymnal in the car and I sang some of these old songs. Christians have been singing these songs for years but their teachers, through their preaching and instructions, have closed the Christian’s ear to the truth of the grace and mercy of God. Most have not had the basic teachings of salvation, grace, and righteousness.
YOU ARE NOT GUILTY
Everywhere I go to minister, I always say, “You are not guilty.” If there is anything, which will bring you peace and contentment, it is a revelation that you are not guilty. Neither are you responsible for where you find yourself today in the natural. You are not responsible!
We have genetically inherited, through the human biological birth, what we are in the natural. Even physically speaking, children many times will look like their parents, act like their parents, grow up and do what their parents do. Well, if that is true physically, then how about spiritually? We have never understood, never really had a revelation that we are not simply human beings, but we are spiritual beings. As we have inherited all of the good and all of the bad traits, humanly speaking, from the human genetics, so we have a divine genetic, a divine DNA, which is called a spiritual being and have inherited all the traits of our heavenly Father.
Because we are more carnal in our thinking than spiritual, we focus everything on the natural rather than on the spiritual. For years we have tried to take the natural man and make him a spiritual man. It just is not going to happen. You will never take who you think you are, your human personality or the person that has been formed in your carnal mind from birth, and make it godly. You can clean it up – you can teach it – you can make it act a little better and look a little better, but it is still carnal, it is still the flesh. It is still not who you are because you are a spiritual being. As you begin to wake up and realize you are a spiritual being, you will not have to struggle to overcome the flesh. In fact, you cannot do anything else but overcome when you awaken in His likeness. When you realize you are a spiritual being, everything that is antichrist in your life will begin to fall at your feet, as the scriptures say, “Let God arise, let his enemies be scattered.” Psalms 68:1. When God begins to arise in us, every enemy in our life begins to fall at our feet and we begin to enter into rest.
“For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead: And he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them and rose again. Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more. Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” II Corinthians 5:14-17
I really enjoy teaching from scripture. Sometimes I will go to a conference and never open the Bible, but I am always teaching from scripture. I have lived in the scriptures for over thirty years and I am still discovering the riches in them. Some of these things we have read for years are just now beginning to dawn within our consciousness and become a part of our experience. II Corinthians 5:14 says, “For the love of God constrains us.” It is the love of God that constrains us. We have not really fully understood the love of God because in our mentality we still have the consciousness of having to please God before He can really love us. But it is “the love of God that constrains us because we thus judge that if one died for all, then were all dead.” The Greek says, “If one died for all, or one has died for all, then all were dead.” We do not realize this physical humanity, this carnal mind, this personality that is formed in us and taught to us, is not a living person. That is a dead person. It is the illusion of life.
Death in the scriptures does not mean your physical body falls over. Death in the scriptures simply means you are alienated from God and do not know who you are. You do not know you are a spiritual being. You are walking around with a human consciousness thinking you are merely a mortal human being. You read or hear about Jesus and do not know you can live as He lived in total oneness with His Father. You realize He could, because He was the Son of God. Yet, you are trying your best to be like Him …but in your human consciousness, you will never admit “I can walk as he walked, and be as He was,” even though the scriptures themselves say, “As He is, so are we in this world.” You see, in your human consciousness, in your human personality, you will agree with the Word but it will NOT be your experience.
“Even when we were dead in sin,” Paul told the Ephesians, “He has raised us up together and seated us together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus.” When did that happen? When you came to an altar? I don’t think so. When you said, “Jesus. I receive you,” NO! It happened at Calvary. Even when you were dead in sin, even before you physically came into this world, you were seated with Him in heavenly places at Calvary. One of the big errors taught in the Christian system is to really be godly and please God, we must die, we must deny ourselves and crucify the flesh. I have news for you … It is already dead! The reason it seems so alive to you is you believe it is. If you try to kill the flesh, you will really find out how alive it is. You are putting your faith in and giving credence to something that is dead and you are keeping it alive by your actions and your unbelief, even in ignorance. Christians today are unbelievers, but it is really not their fault because they have been taught ignorance for years in the religious system. Ignorance simply means you do not know. They really do not know the old man is dead. They are trying to kill a dead man. He is already dead. You do not have to kill him. “And He died for all so that they which live should not henceforth live for themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again.” What is that saying? “That they which live” – who are the people today who are alive? It is those who have been quickened by His Spirit, those who are in these days beginning to awaken to the reality of being a new creation, because in the new creation there is absolutely nothing of the old. But in the old creation, there is nothing of the new. We need to look away from this fleshly human man focusing our attention, our meditation, and our worship simply on one thing and that is our spiritual man, the new creation man who was awakened at regeneration. Jesus told the woman at the well, “God is Spirit, and they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in Truth.” You cannot worship Him with the mind. Paul tells us the Corinthians in I Corinthians that the natural man, the natural mind, the human personality absolutely cannot receive the things of God. With your human nature and personality you cannot understand nor can you receive anything from God. Everything you desire, everything you could possibly hope for is in spirit. So if you want to worship God, you cannot worship Him with the mind. You have to worship Him in spirit. To worship Him in truth is to worship Him from out of your spirit.
KNOWING NOT ACCORDING TO FLESH
“Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh, even though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we Him not.” II Corinthians 5:16. Do you realize what this is saying? Most Christians are still trying to worship Jesus in His humanity. He himself said, “I can of mine own self, do nothing,” John 5:30. Jesus, the man could do absolutely nothing. Think of it, here was a man born of the Virgin Mary, a perfect man in every way, yet He himself said, “I of mine own self can do nothing.” So why in the world are we trying to do something? If He cannot raise the dead and heal the sick, if He cannot walk in the fullness of God, why do we try? The only reason He could do it is because he had revelation He was the Son of God. He knew God was His Father. He knew he inherited everything, as Isaac did from his father, by birth. He knew who He was in spirit. He knew His mission on earth and He knew Himself according to the spiritual man, not the physical man. So Paul says, “Therefore, from this time forth know we, or we should not know any man according to the flesh.” How can I do that? You have to stop looking with the physical eyes, because if we look at each other with the physical eyes, we are going to see imperfection. If we do not look according to the flesh, but we look beyond the imperfections according to the Spirit, we will realize that in every man is the Spirit. What is the spirit of man? The spirit of man is the part of man that is divine. It is the part of man that Paul says, when you are regenerated, you born again, “He that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.” I Corinthians 6:17
A SINLESS MAN
The problem is in this human mentality, but the solution is in the spirit. In your spirit, in the deepest recesses of your being, you and God are one. The solution to every problem in the universe will be for us to have a revelation, not just the knowledge of it, but a revelation that our spirit and God’s Spirit, are ONE SPIRIT. Then we begin to live out from the spiritual realm instead of the carnal realm. “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creation. Old things are passed away, and behold all things are become new.” I Corinthians 5:17. I used to read this verse and would say, “I must not be born again.” We too often see with our physical eyes. We read scripture and rather than the scriptures giving us life, we read them with the natural mind and they kill us. Another scripture that will kill us, if understood with the natural mind, is “He that is born of God does not commit sin.” It is impossible for that person to sin. So if you are looking at it with natural eyes, you will feel you are not born again because “He that is born of God does not commit sin. Neither indeed can he.” I would read this verse for many years, and I would be condemned by it. We must have a revelation of that which is born of God is the spiritual man. It has nothing to do with our human mentality, human carnality, weakness, failure, and defeat. It is a spiritual man and it is absolutely impossible for my spiritual man to sin. My spiritual man is who I am. For years I lived in the identity of the human person of Gary Sigler and that is where I never had any success. But now I realize I am a Son of God. Christ is beginning to awaken and stand up within us. He does not need processing. He is complete. When we live out of our human mentality and we live “religiously”, we are going to experience all kinds of processing but if we are living or of our spiritual man, there will be no more processing. There will only be victory after victory. It will not be a struggle, it will not be a striving, and it will just be an increasing awareness of His life in you. There is no struggle and there is no problem with the spiritual man.
This is the third writing on “The Reality of Righteousness” so I want to share some of the scriptures on righteousness. We still teach and read from scripture, but today it is different than it has been before. I knew these verses for years. I tried to quote them, I tried to confess them, and I tried to everything you are supposed to and nothing worked. Today is the day of the revealing of the Sons of God. Today we have ears to hear and we are hearing. It is the hearing that sets us free. It is knowing, not intellectually, but it is the knowing of the truth that sets you free. In Romans 3:21-23, it says, “But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference. For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God; being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.”
What is this righteousness without the law? It is Christ coming alive in us. Christ does not need a law to live by. “Unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.” Hebrews 9:28 says that He is appearing in us without sin and saving our souls by the renewing of our minds to realize “As He is so we are in this world.”
All have sinned and come short of the glory of God, everyone! Religion would say you must somehow find a way to put down the sin in your life and if you do, you will be blessed… and if you do not, you will be cursed. That is why I am so glad Paul wrote in Galatians 3:13, “Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law.” Now tell me, why did you get the curse? If you were a good person, if you read 10 chapters a day, did your spiritual warfare, and you prayed, you would be fine. But, if you broke the law, you got the curse. The curse, basically summed up was poverty, sickness, and death. That is what you received for disobeying God. But Paul comes along in the New Testament and says, “Christ has redeemed us from the curse.” Well, what does that mean? It means if I break the law, I do not get the curse. How can that be? Because of Calvary! “God was in Christ reconciling the world unto Himself, not imputing unto men their trespasses.” God is not imputing sin. He is imputing righteousness. He is not keeping account. I have said a few times if God would ever call you before Him and remind you of your sin, it would make Him a liar! God will never bring you before Him and remind you of your sin! In Calvary it was washed away. I know what this sounds like to the religious mind, but I am not talking to the religious Pharisees of our day. This message is not for the person who is looking for a way to stay in sin consciousness and still slide into Heaven. This message sets the captives fee, those who are looking for a way out of their bondage, because it does not come to you by you doing anything to get out of it. It comes simply through believing the goodness of God. He said, “As far as the east is from the west, so far hath He removed our transgression from us.” Psalm 103:12 That is the Old Testament! Hebrews 9:14 says, “For the blood of bulls and goats could never take away sin. [It only covers it] How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?
In all these years, we have never understood perfectly the blood of Jesus Christ. When you understand the blood of Jesus Christ, you will never again feel condemned for your sin consciousness. It is a natural thing to feel bad when you miss God, or when you make a wrong choice, but you never have to be condemned. You simply have to turn away from it and know that two thousand years ago at the cross you were judged. You are not coming to God to stand before Him to have Him judge you in the way Christianity tells you. Judgment took place at the cross. The old man was crucified. You do not have to live with that shadow anymore. You just believe in the simplicity of the gospel and what Jesus accomplished for you! We are “justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.” Do you know what it means to cleanse your conscience from dead works? It means never again do you have to try to please God. The “dead works” is the consciousness that feels unworthy, so you have to do something to please God. I cannot tell you how many years I would get up in the morning and I would be depressed. I went through manic depressions. For days I would have to force myself to get out of bed. I knew another day was going to pass and I was going to fail God. But today I realize the blood of Jesus Christ, by the offering at Calvary, paid the price for my rebellion. It paid the price for every wrong choice I ever made in my life. Then later on I found out that God is Sovereign. Everything that happens in your life is divinely ordained of God. We need to learn this unconditional love. Oh how hard this is to believe. Let me tell you something folks. Without the evil in this world you will never be able to love unconditionally. Without someone abusing you, mistreating you, talking about you, gossiping about you and without any opposition, you would never learn unconditional love. That is why we go through so many hardships. But “We are justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.” Romans 3:25 “Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in His blood.” This has nothing to do with the carnal man. You do not need faith in yourself. We do not have any in ourselves, in that natural man. “Through faith in His blood to declare His righteousness for the remission of sins that have passed through the forbearance of God; to declare at this time His righteousness: that He might be just, and the justifier of him who believes in Jesus.” If you can just believe the simplicity of the gospel, that Jesus was the Lamb of God who took away the sin of the world, it will free your consciousness from sin. Song of Solomon 1:3, “Your name is as ointment poured forth.” The name that Paul says is above every other name is like an ointment upon your lips. Many times in years past, when I became so despondent and so depressed over my condition, I would walk the floor and say, “Oh Jesus, Oh Jesus, Oh God I need you.” It is like an ointment. It begins to flow in you and the more I would say “Jesus”, the more He would come to me with His love and again turn me to Calvary and speak to me that the blood was enough. The blood speaks for you to declare His righteousness that he might be just and a the justifier of him which believes in Jesus. What does the scripture say? “Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness.” Romans 4:3. Every Christian you know will tell you they believe the Bible is the Word of God. They say they believe it. But they do not believe it because if they believed it, they would experience it. We try to convince ourselves we believe it when we really do not. Well, we need to be like the man who says, “Oh God, help my unbelief.” Many times I have said the same thing because I did believe. You also believe from the deepest recesses of your being, in your spiritual man. We believe with our new heart. The problem is we stay in the carnal mind and we fall under the accusations, the condemnations and under the guilt that comes to us through our natural mind.
GOD JUSTIFIES THE UNGODLY
“To him that works is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt. But to him that works not, but believes on him that justifies the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.” Romans 4:5. I will never forget when I first really saw this verse, because if there was ever an ungodly Christian on the earth, it was I. Yet the scripture plainly reveals that God justifies the ungodly. Does that not give you hope? The teaching on righteousness is one of the greatest losses we have had in the modern day church. They have lost the reality of righteousness. This is the third writing on righteousness that we have done and I cannot tell you how many people have told me they have been absolutely revitalized in the faith just by believing the scriptures on righteousness. “But to him that works not, but believes on him that justifies the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.” So it is not your performance, it is in your ability to believe what God says. Could God possibly love me enough to impute His righteousness to me regardless of my condition? Why is it so hard for us to believe? It is because of our religious training. One of the first things I was taught was, “Well now that you are saved you must live by faith and not by feeling.” In fact some of the Pentecostal circles I was raised in said, “Oh you don’t ever want to get into trying to experience God, this a life lived by faith.” If you never experience God, you will never come out of your carnality! We need experience! I have shared many times, there are many people in church pews across America and across the world who have gone to an altar and have been told they are saved and have had NO experience whatsoever. There is no doubt about it, when you experience God, you know you have experienced God.
The surest way to know you have experienced God and you have been regenerated is that a conflict begins in you. So many people fall under condemnation because of the conflict but the conflict only proves you have been regenerated. You should not fall under condemnation, you should run to the cross… forgiveness is unlimited! There is no end to forgiveness. For God imputes righteousness without works, saying, “Even as David also describes the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputes righteousness without works, saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered. Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.” Romans 4:6-8. David knew God in this way. In Romans 4:13 “For the promise, that He should be the heir of the world, was not in Abraham, or to His seed, through the law, but through the righteousness of faith.” Look in Romans 4:19 “And being weak in faith, He considered not His own body now dead.” If you are the typical Christian, this is a real key to your problem because you are always considering your body. You are always considering your human mentality. You know you are not going to make it because you have tried it for thirty years and it has not worked. You have wanted it to work, you have desired it to work, but you are still not there. You have wanted to be healed for years yet sickness is still in your body. “Abraham considered not His own body as good as dead, he staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strong in faith giving God glory, being fully persuaded that what He has promised He was able to perform. Therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness.”
In our human carnal mentality, there is no way we are going to be a fully manifested Son of God. If I look at my natural, carnal mentality, I never will be manifested, but if I look away from who I am in the natural, and believe Him who has promised, I will be changed. Paul says in Ephesians 1:4 “He has chosen us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love.” You do not have to wait for that to happen. It has already happened. But again, we have to look away from the carnality and look to the spirit. I am perfect, unblameable, and irreprovable in my spirit.
OUR SPIRIT IS THE MOST HOLY PLACE
Your spirit is the Most Holy Place. Your spirit must be quickened and regenerated by God. A human spirit, without being quickened and regenerated, still has no concept, no reality of God. You must be regenerated and once you are, you realize your spirit is the “The Most Holy Place.” Now this is another problem we have had throughout our teachings, we have been taught we must go from the Outer Court into the Holy Place and in the Most Holiest of All and we keep trying to rend the veil of the flesh. We keep pushing, trying to enter into the Most Holy Place. But we have it exactly backwards…we dwell in the Most Holy Place. We dwell in the very presence of an Awesome, Almighty God and we must from our spirit, from the Most Holy Place, possess our souls. We have had it backwards. If you come at it from The Most Holy Place, it is not a battle; it is a constant victory. You do not have to overcome – you are an overcomer. You cannot be anything else but an overcomer because he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit. In your spirit is the Most Holy Place. It inhabits everything of God and all of His attributes. Everything of God abides and dwells in your human spirit. That is why once again we must break through this natural mind and begin to seek God for a revelation and begin to live from out of our spirit. I cannot teach you this. I wish I could. I cannot teach you how to live from out of your spirit, but God will reveal it to you. Take the time to seek Him.
The Lord does not impute sin, He imputes righteousness. There are people who would like to crucify me for saying this because they are religious people. The world comes to Jesus through His word of righteousness when they realize they are not accountable for their guilt, their sin, their rebellion, and their faults inherited when sin entered the world. They are not guilty! “God was in Christ reconciling the world unto Himself, not imputing, not holding them accountable for their sins.” Why? Because they inherited them from Adam. I often share that sin is the most horrible disease on the earth and we all have inherited it. Yet in the religious circles, if you develop a tumor or a cancer in your body, everyone in church will cry for you, they will pray for you, and oh God they will intercede for you! But if they catch you in adultery, if they find out you are a closet homosexual, if they find out you have what they consider the evils of humanity, they will give you no hope. Yet we have homosexuals and lesbians, and all kinds of people in bondages coming to us all the time and saying, “This word has set us free.” God is not holding you accountable for what you inherited in Adam. I do not want to say there is no accountability for what you do, because we live in a society where you must be held accountable for your actions. But where God is concerned, He understands you and you are not accountable in His eyes. The blood has been shed. God looks not at your human, carnal man. He looks at the spiritual man. In every man there is the spirit. John said of Jesus, “And He is the true light that lights every man that comes into the world.” This is why every man has the inherent knowledge. There is something intuitive in him that knows, that seeks, and that hungers after God. I realize there are some who have totally shut off those intuitive needs and filled themselves with the desires of the flesh and mind. The spirit of man is the light and the candle of the Lord. When Jesus said, “Let you light shine before men,” He was simply saying, “Folks, learn how to live from out of your spirit because you are the light of the world.” “I am the light of the world.” The “I” here is Christ, my spiritual identity, but as long as you look at your fallen humanity, it will keep you in its bondage. The greatest prison in the entire world is the human mind, human concepts, and a mindset that says, “I cannot, I just cannot be what I know I should be” and that is true. You cannot be what you know you should be in the carnal mentality, but with the unveiling of Christ in you, you can do all things through Christ. This is why I love the scriptures so dearly. From Genesis to Revelation, it is an unveiling of Christ, not the man Jesus who lived two thousand years ago, but the unveiling of Jesus Christ today within His temple, which temple YOU ARE. That is why we cannot know Him any longer after the flesh. We have to know Him by the spirit and when you know Him by the spirit you will recognize Him in humanity. You will hear Him speak, and when you hear Him speak, you will find deliverance. “For the promise that He should be the heir of the world was not to Abraham or to His seed through the law, but through the righteousness of faith.” Romans 4:13. Praise God people are beginning to wake up to the simplicity of righteousness. People who have tried for thirty, fifty, seventy years are coming to me and saying, “I see it!” they are so joyful because they realize for years they have been suffering under this guilt and this condemnation, and all the time it has been a lie! God does not look at iniquity. He sees the Spirit of God within you. He ministers to that seed.
THE FIRST MAN BROUGHT DEATH, THE SECOND MAN BROUGHT LIFE
Romans 5:17, “For if by one man’s offense death reigned by one;” This is your problem from the very beginning. Through one man’s offense (Adam) death reigned by one; “Much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.” You receive His grace, you receive His mercy, you receive His forgiveness. Whatever comes up in your flesh, whatever habits you have, for some it is minor and for others it is major, but in God’s eyes it is all the same. It is simply a mistaken identity. That is all it is. You are living in a human consciousness and you have lost your identity. You do not know who you are. In the Old and New Testaments God is saying, “Awake.” There is a verse in the Old Testament, “Awake, awake; put on thy strength, O Zion; put on thy beautiful garments, O Jerusalem.” Isaiah. 52:1. Well, what are those garments? They are The Robes of Righteousness! Had Zion and Jerusalem put on their beautiful garments they would have discovered they were living in a mistaken identity. This was spoken before Jesus came, before He died on the cross. God was telling His people to awaken to their true identity. People say, “You are preaching a “cross-less gospel.” You are trying to bring people to God without the cross. NO! But in God, there is no time. The Lamb was slain before the foundation of the world. Some of the Old Testament saints did arise out of their carnal nature and that is why we see men like Elijah and Enoch.
Paul says, “Awake you who are sleeping. Arise from the dead and Christ shall shine upon you and give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.” Thank God we are waking up. Paul says in Romans 10:1 concerning the Jews, “My heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel is that they might be saved. For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge. For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves to the righteousness of God.” Now, if you are not living in the character and nature of God, that is your problem. If you are still trying to work out your own righteousness by the flesh, then you are not accepting God’s righteousness, which comes as a free gift through simply believing. You are still trying to establish your own righteousness to make you feel accepted before God. God will never accept that attitude. He will have nothing to do with the works of the flesh. It has nothing to do with trying to make yourself righteous. It has everything to do with simply believing what God has said and knowing you are righteous. “For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone that believes.” Every one of you can believe God. If you could not, you would not be here. If you have been regenerated, you can believe God. You just have to stop listening to what your mind tells you.
The only warfare today we need to be concerned about is the natural mind. Spiritual warfare in the airwaves is a distraction for the people of God. Paul says, “For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds; Casting down imaginations and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.” II Corinthians 10:4-5 Casting down demons out of the airwaves? NO! But casting down reasonings, imaginations, and every thought that would distract you from the knowledge of God. That is the spiritual warfare we need to do. When the accuser comes and says things like, “Well, you fell again…you heard this guy preach on righteousness and you thought you had it made. You just went out the next day and fell again. You just did the same thing you always do and you still made the wrong choices. It is NOT going to work for you!” You see I believe the Word of God. I believe at the cross my redemption was paid in full. I believe even as I stand here with this lust and these habits in my life, I believe in Calvary. This is how you overcome! “But the righteousness which is of faith speaks this way, The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; that if you will confess with your mouth and believe in your heart that God has raised Jesus from the dead, you shall be saved. For with the heart man believes unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”
I realize what has been done with these scriptures. However, it is your salvation. Believe in your heart and then cast down every thought that comes against the knowledge of the Word of God. Cast It Down! When I had the revelation of this, I had no one to tell me what I am telling you, but I began the simple practice of saying what I believe. God confronted me one day and he said, “Gary, do you really believe my Word?” I answered, “Yes, I do.” He said, “No you don’t. Listen to how you talk. How could you believe someone and then say something different? Have you been regenerated?” I replied that yes, I had been regenerated. He said, “Is the Spirit of God dwelling in you?” “Yes He is,” I answered. God then asked, “Have you been baptized in the Holy Spirit?” “Yes I have,” I said. “Have I cleansed you be my blood?” I said “Yes you have.” He said, “Then why are you talking the way you talk? You should be the most happy, the most joyful person in the world if you really believe the goodness of God.”
For years I said, “I cannot do it.” I wanted to but I could not. The word really teaches you do not have to. He said, “You have been struggling for years to become something that you already are. But you see, it is your spiritual man.” Thank God we are waking up! I Corinthians 1: 30-31, “But of Him, of Him are you in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption.” The carnal mind has nothing to do with this. That is why Paul told the Ephesians, “You are God’s masterpiece.” This is God’s business. God is in the business of reproducing Sons. It has nothing to do with your ability or your failures. It has everything to do with God and that is why I say you are his masterpiece, everything in your life is there for a reason. “The steps of a man,” it is said in the Old Testament, “are lead by the Lord.” I know the King James says, “The steps of a righteous man are ordered of the Lord,” but the word “righteousness” is not in the original language. “The steps of a man are ordered of the Lord.” So you say, “does it do away with our free will?” No, you can make the wrong choices. You can go the wrong way but the minute you do God begins to cause you to walk in the direction that will bring you into very, very fiery trials because He loves you too much to let you go your own way. In Him, Christ Jesus, “is made unto us wisdom, righteousness, sanctification, and redemption.” “You have an anointing for the Holy one and you know all things.” I John 2:20. We need to meditate on this. You get into your spiritual consciousness and all of these things are just so real and so simple to you. He is our wisdom. He is our righteousness. He is our sanctification and redemption. This is why it is written, “Let him that glory, glory in the Lord.”
Many bad things may happen to us on this human journey. Where do you think Hell is? Some think it is somewhere we are going to go to be tortured after death. No wonder some people cannot serve God out of love. Hell is walking in the wrong direction and making the wrong choices. That is Hell. But that does not mean God gives up on you. He causes you to walk in an area that will bring you correction. Remember Jonah? He said no to God and was swallowed up by a whale.
GOD IS NOT IMPUTING SIN
“All things are of God Who has reconciled us to Himself by Jesus Christ and has given to us the ministry of reconciliation to know that God was in Christ reconciling the world unto Himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them, and hat committed unto us this word of reconciliation.” Let me tell you something. If you believe this, you will be one of the greatest evangelists the world has ever known because you can go to a prostitute, you can go to a homosexual and you can the tell them, “You are not guilty.” You can tell them the depth of God’s love towards them and if you can convince them, and it will not be done with just words, you will see the word of reconciliation is from the heart. I do not teach the message of reconciliation doctrinally; rather I minister it from the heart of the Father. I thank God there are people who can take what I say and prove it line for line by scripture, but we have to get to the heart of the thing. Someone in one of my meetings once said, “There are many today who believe in reconciliation, but they are not reconcilers.” When God unveils your heart and begins to arise within you in His love, you then become a reconciler and you are able to dispense the love of God to another human being. You do not have to correct them. If I talk to a prostitute or a homosexual, I do NOT tell them “You cannot live that life style and still get to God.” What I tell them is this, “Is there anything in you which desires to be godly and righteous? Is there within you a cry for release? If there is, I can guarantee you that you will come out of your bondage.” It will never be by self-effort. You may fall a thousand time trying to come out of a life style or a bad habit but if you have a heart cry within you and you understand the deep meaning of Passover, the shed blood of the Lamb, and God’s forgiveness, you will never again feel you cannot go to Him to receive the help you need. I need Him every day of my life and I can go to Him everyday and bask in His forgiveness and His unlimited love. I am so thankful it does not depend on my performance. It depends upon His love, His mercy, and His forgiveness. I will never forget one day when I was so full of despair. I went to a large conference. There must have been five thousand people in the building. A brother was speaking on forgiveness. After his message, he asked if there were any questions. Imagine – five thousand people and somehow I was the first one on my feet. I said, “Brother, what is a person to do if they have habitual sin in their life? I have tried so many times to overcome my bad habits and I know when I confess them I am only going to do them again. I know I shouldn’t… I really do not want to sin, but I do. What am I suppose to do? What can I do?” He could have killed me with his answer, and many preachers have, but this man said, “The mercy of the Lord endures forever.”
The religious people kill you but God will give you hope! There have been times when I have been in so much despair over my condition and God never came to me and condemned me – never! In fact, He taught me why I felt condemned even though He was not condemning me. When you come into the presence of God, you cannot help but be exposed. You cannot help but see from the sin consciousness and you may fall on your face. But rather than be condemned, you can rejoice because he that is in the light and walks in the light has fellowship with his Father and the blood cleanses (God consciousness). The fact you can even feel bad over your sin consciousness proves you are in the light because if you are in the darkness, you cannot see! If you are walking in his presence, everything in your life that is antichrist will be visible to you. Yes, it hurts, but you can say, “Oh thank God for the forgiveness.” You never have to fall in despair again if you understand Passover. On the very first Passover there was no requirement except to be in the house and have the blood on the doorpost. They did not sort out all the bad people. They did not tell the homosexuals they could not come in. They said, “Just get into the house. If you are in the house, you who live by your human consciousness, and you have the blood on the door post, the death angel will pass over you.” How much more shall the blood of Christ cleanse you from dead works to serve the living God? The blood today is not upon the doorpost. “God was in Christ reconciling the world unto Himself, not imputing unto them their trespasses. So how much more shall the blood of Christ cleanse you?” “I don’t frustrate the Grace of God; for if righteousness comes by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.” Is the law then against the promise of God? NO! “For if there had been a law which could have given life, verily righteousness should have been by the law.” Do you realize what that is saying? If there could have been a law to bring life, then righteousness would have come by the law. So you see, the law does what it is supposed to do. The law makes you realize there is nothing in you, in your human consciousness, that can live as Jesus lived. Everyone would stand guilty before God if it were not for the new creation man with a God consciousness given to us, made possible through the cross and resurrection of Jesus Christ that is awakening and arising in us.
If Christians would only begin to realize that on the inside of them they have the most beautiful, most gracious, most lovely, most kind, and most considerate person. Then when they would see somebody who has been a Christian for thirty years still living out of the sin conscious mind, let’s say in adultery, they will weep for them. They will not condemn them. They will want to explain the gospel to them. They will want to share with them the word of reconciliation. In you religious mentality, you will bring nothing but death and condemnation. Thank God we are coming out of that. In Galatians 5:4 Paul says, “Christ is become of no affect to you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; you are fallen from grace.” Listen to this next verse if you need what I am sharing: “For we through the spirit wait for the hope of righteousness [that only comes] by faith.” We wait. I read those verses many years ago, and I said, “Oh God, how long?” It seems like I have waited and I have waited. Still I believed the scripture that says God justifies the ungodly… and then we wait. We wait. We worship God. We focus on God. We praise God. We wait for the hope of righteousness. We wait for the daystar to begin to arise in our heart. We have a more sure word of prophecy, because Christ Himself awakens within us. He stands up within this temple and begins to minister the love and grace and knowledge of God to a lost and dying world. Philippians 3:9, “And be found in Him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith: that I may know Him.” This is the key, “That I may know Him.” When Paul says, “That I may know Him,” listen, it is not the man of Galilee. “That I may know Him,” that I may know the resurrected, transcendent Son of the living God, who is now arising within my being. That I may know that man, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of His suffering being made conformable unto His death. This is what the new man does, what the new creation man does. He is constantly giving himself over for the life of the world, not condemning the world, but giving them life. Paul said we suffer daily through death that life might be in you. “If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead.” Oh my, what a promise! Paul was not talking about a bodily resurrection here. He said, “If by any means that I might know the righteousness of God, that I might know Him in the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His suffering. If by any means I might attain the resurrection from among the dead.” Remember who the dead people are? They are those walking without the knowledge of God within them. In this very hour we are being resurrected out from among the dead. If you come fully into resurrection life, if you begin to flow from your spirit into your soul until your soul is completely washed and transformed into His life, then in a moment, in the very twinkling of an eye we shall be changed. This corruptible will put on incorruption, and this mortal shall put on immortality. If by any means I might attain unto that resurrection. Being resurrected completely and totally out of this carnal mentality of human consciousness. If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead. That is what we are into in these days. I would not tell you I am fully developed or that I do not have anything else to gain, but I will tell you this: I manifest the Son of God. Do not wait thinking that someday God is going to push a button and we will all be manifested Sons. It does not work like that. Daily we are transformed from on degree of glory to another. We manifest Him daily, until one day, in a moment, in a twinkling of an eye, even our vile body will be transfigured like unto His glorious body. Daily we fellowship with Him. Praise God for His Righteousness!
A DIVINE INHERITANCE
Most of God’s people have been blinded for many years by religion, but God is opening the eyes of our understanding so we can clearly see what He has given to us in the New Covenant. We all know something about the New Covenant; it is a will. And, in a will there are always benefits. When you leave a will, you leave all of your assets to the heirs of your will.
God hath bequeathed to us, a divine inheritance. Yet Most of His people have not taken advantage of all the benefits of His will. Most act like beggars, sitting like poor worms of the dust, laden down with the cares of this life, when we have a vast bank account, if you will, full of the resources of Holy Spirit available to us.
Religion has made the people of God so sin-conscious, so aware of their weaknesses and their failures, that it has given them a feeling of unworthiness, and seemingly the inability to break the power of carnality in their lives. That is what the system of religion has done, not to the sinner, but to the church. Because of this, most of God’s people find themselves unable to break the dominion of darkness in their lives. But God has good news for us. God has a cure for sin-consciousness. Sin-consciousness is that awareness of being separated from God, feeling unable to do that which you know you should do. Sin-consciousness can also be called, self-consciousness. You are so conscious of your carnal self: “I would like to do this. I really would, but there is something in me, I am just so self-conscious. I come into a meeting alive and full of people praying, praising, worshiping and lifting their hands, and I’d love to do it, but there is something in me that will not let me do it. I’m just so self-conscious. I can’t.” That is sin-consciousness.
WE NEED MORE THAN DOCTRINE
Now doctrinally you may know you are saved and you have Jesus in you and that you have the divine life and nature in you, but with a sin-consciousness, you are more self-conscious than you are conscious of the new nature that God has placed within you. You have a desire to live Godly in this world, but if you are self-conscious you find yourself with the experience of Roman’s chapter 7. You delight in the law of God in the inner man (the spiritual man) but the law of sin and death (because of an unrenewed mind,) keeps you in bondage.
The body is dead because of sin. But your spirit is alive because of God’s righteousness, not your own righteousness, but God’s. Your spirit is much deeper than your mind, emotion and your will. Deep down on the inside of you, where you really live, you are a spiritual being. That is where you are made alive. You are made alive in your spirit. Your body is dead because of sin, but your spirit is alive because of righteousness. God has imputed to you, through the new birth in your inner man, His righteousness. And you are just as righteous before God as Jesus Christ Himself. The problem is: The church is more sin-conscious, more conscious of the body, than of the new spiritual life deep on the inside.
Once you know where life really is, you will begin to come out of sin consciousness. Life is in your spirit. Life is not in the mind. Your mind will never allow you to receive the goodness of God. Your mind will never allow you to live a Godly life on this earth unless it has been renewed by the power of the Spirit and the Word of God. Your spirit is alive, and when you learn that and you begin to function from your spirit instead of your mind, and you begin to line up your thinking with the life that is deep on the inside of you; you will find that your body that has been dead because of sin, will begin to change. Where your body once cried out for the lusts of the flesh and all the carnal things, it now cries out for righteousness.
Your body will control you unless your spirit has quickened it. You can be a Christian for a hundred years and if you have not learned to live in the spirit, your body will still control you. Your body is dead because of sin and your body will drive you and force you to do things against your will, unless you have a revelation and realization that down on the inside of you dwells the Spirit of the living God. On the inside of you dwells the very righteousness of God. Inside of you is dynamite. The power of God is the word “dunamis” in the Greek. We translate that word “dynamite”. And that is what God says we have on the inside of us – dynamite to blast the works of the carnal mindset. Glory to God!
THE CURE FOR SIN-CONSCIOUSNESS
God’s cure for man’s sin-consciousness is death and resurrection. His death not ours! His death on the cross was an end to the old creation and His resurrection was the beginning of the new creation.
I have such a burning desire on the inside of me for all of creation to become aware of what we have inherited through Christ. Do we really know what’ is on the inside of us? We say, “Jesus lives in me”, just like we say, “It’s a nice day.” We have within us the uncreated indestructible life of God Himself. Who is this Jesus that lives within us by the spirit? If the eyes of your understanding are opened you will see that He has penetrated into your spirit and has caused His life to come alive in you, and you are now one spirit with God.
You will then understand the gospel, not just intellectually, but you will have a “knowing” just like you know that you have been regenerated. If you have been regenerated, nobody could ever take it away from you. Just like you know that, you can know the power of Jesus walking in you. You can know the power over good and evil the realm of the carnal mind. You can have the ability to scatter sickness and disease. However it will be by His will and not yours. This is not the realm of gifts but a change in consciousness. You can have the same consciousness that Jesus had, because He knew He was the Son of God. Nothing blocked His success over the realm of the five senses.
“In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. Without Him was not anything made that was made. IN HIM WAS LIFE. The life was the light of men.” This is why Jesus told His disciples they were the light of the world. “The Word became flesh.” Oh, I tell you, we have the life of God on the inside of us. We are also the word become flesh. I shared in book two on righteousness, the seven elements that are in the resurrected Spirit of Jesus Christ that have been deposited on the inside of our being. We have everything that God is on the inside of us – everything. Everything that Jesus accomplished while on earth is now deposited on the inside of our being by our oneness in spirit. Oh glory to God! Colossians 1:15 says, “Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature.” Verse 18, “And he is the head of the body, the church; who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead.” Jesus was the firstborn from among the dead. That is why it says in verse 15 that He is the firstborn of every creature. He is the firstborn of the new creation. When Jesus came out of death, He was the firstborn, the head of a brand new creation. Because He was a man that was fully God, and a God that was fully man – the head of a new race. So, when He arose from the dead, He arose as the head of a new race, a people who were fully God and fully man. “And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, which is his body, the fullness of him that fills all in all.” Eph. 2:23
You may say, “How can you say that?” I can say only what the Word says, and if you will allow God to renew your mind and allow Him to reveal to you the purpose for your creation, the purpose for your being, the purpose for Him coming alive in you, you will know the truth of these words. Christ was the firstborn from among the dead to become the head of a new creation. Let’s look at Romans 8:29. “For whom he did fore-know, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.”
The only begotten Son of God became the firstborn of a new creation, the firstborn of many brethren. Jesus on the cross, defeated the law of sin and death. He took your sinful nature, (the belief in being separate from God) into death. Jesus became the sin-bearer. He took it all. He took your sinful nature into death so that you could have His nature and become His righteousness. “So also it is written, the first man, Adam, became a living soul. The last Adam a life-giving spirit.” 1 Cor. 15:45
That is what the cross was all about, not just so you could be saved and live some low, unworthy worm of the dust life until you die and go to heaven, NO! That is not the purpose for the cross. The cross was to show you the great love of God for His creation and to bring you into an awareness of your spiritual identity so that you could live as Christ on this earth... “Because as He is so are we in this world.” I Jn 4:17
II Peter 1:3, “According as his divine power, (And that word “power” again is the word “dunamis” – dynamite.) hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness.” The word “life” here, is the word “zoe” which means, “God’s life”. He did not give to you another kind of human life. The only life that Jesus ever imparts to you is “Zoë” life, the life of God. And He says, “All things that pertain unto life and godliness.” Life is God’s life, and godliness is the expression of that life. He has given unto you all things that pertain to His life and the expression of that life. The church is the expression of God’s life. And again, how does God express Himself? How do you express yourself? If there are no words coming forth, there is not much expression. You express Godliness by the words that you speak. You express either the tree of life, the heavenly realm, the life of your Father God, or the life of your father the devil, the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. You express God when you speak from your spiritual man; you express the life of the serpent when you speak from the carnal mind or the earth realm.
Even as a Christian, you can receive your life from the wrong source. Do not think that you cannot. What you express reveals which tree you are receiving your life from. Now I know we are repeating some of these things, but it is necessary. It is necessary because I can listen to many of God’s people talk, and they are not expressing His life. You express what is in your heart. Many today only think of God when they go to church. They only talk of God on Sunday and acknowledge Him only when they meet together.
It is not that you have to work or strive to be righteous. I have often shared, “You can take an old dog and dress him up and put clothes on him, and try to make that dog act like a man. He cannot do it.” How could you even expect a dog to act like a man? But you see, religion expects you to act like God. Religion expects the human being to act like God, and a human being cannot be like God anymore than a dog can be like a man. Unless the dog could become a man, unless you could inject the man into the dog, then the dog would think like a man, act like a man, and talk like a man. That is exactly what God has done. My spirit, which was made in the image of God, has come into this body and as my spirit is awakened or regenerated I begin to live as God on this earth. This is the message of redemption. We have been redeemed (brought back) to our original position in God before the disruption of the world. “Awake, awake; put on thy strength, O Zion; put on thy beautiful garments, O Jerusalem, the holy city: for henceforth there shall no more come into thee the uncircumcised and the unclean.” Isa. 52:1. We have been awakened and we now see ourselves in light of the heavenly realms. We are holy, undefiled, a Son of God ruling from the heavenly realms and not the earthy. I know it is hard for many to see themselves in this light because they have not learned to look at the spirit instead of the flesh. You know that inside of you is this wonderful person, but you look too much at the flesh. Instead of focusing on the spiritual man, you focus on your carnal thinking.
YOU ARE IN CHRIST
I Corinthians chapter 1 and verse 30 says, “Of him are you in Christ Jesus.” Now when did God put you in Christ? Did He put you in Christ the day you said, “Jesus, I receive you?” No, You were created in Christ and through the cross you were bought back. “Just as in Adam all die, so in Christ shall all be made alive.”
You see, you were in Adam. Therefore, you inherited by nature the “sin and death” that Adam received in the garden. But you were in Christ at Calvary. Just as you were in Adam when Adam transgressed, so you were in Christ when Christ went to the cross. He took all of the sin, all of the weaknesses, all of the inferiority; He took everything negative in the universe into death. He paid the price for man’s redemption, and He came out of death the head of a brand new creation. He did not come out of there an old creation made new. You are not an old creation being made new, but you are a brand new creation in Him, and all old things are passed away. You see why I say again and again, it’s time for the church to wake up. We still believe the lie that we are human beings instead of spiritual beings. The truth is, we are sons and daughters of God. We have inherited all things.
John 1:16 says, speaking of Jesus, “Of his fullness have we all received.” All of God’s people need to know about the righteousness of God. Why do we keep waiting for the fullness when we have received it? Because we do not believe what the scriptures tell us. We believe our experience of carnality instead. We need to be like the man who prayed, “Oh Lord help my unbelief.” It would be good to pray the following prayer night and day until you have a revelation of having received His fullness.
“Oh God, open the eyes of my understanding. Lord, that I might know what is the hope of my calling, that I might understand the resurrected power that raised Jesus from among the dead that it now dwells and lives, operates and moves within my being. God, that the eyes of my understanding would be enlightened, that I might know the anointing you have placed within me.”
You have received an anointing of God and that anointing will teach you of all things, and that anointing is the truth and is no lie. We all need to learn to abide in this anointing.
“Abide in the anointing that I have placed within you; and you shall begin to live the life that is really life. You shall begin to live a life that knows no bounds and no limitations. You shall begin to live and to walk in such a realm of the Spirit of the living God within you, that there shall be no sin, no sickness, no disease that is able to stand in your presence. You shall begin to live by the divine life. You are seated in heavenly places. I have resurrected you from among the dead. I have seated you in the heavenly places, and you have all power and all authority. I have placed you in the Name that is above every other name, that Name that is above disease and sin and death and sickness.”
As we become more and more awake to our spiritual being this will become our experience. We are in a “Matrix” of human and religious beliefs, but we are waking up, praise the Lord. How can we be sick and weak and powerless in the kingdom of God if we awake fully to righteousness? The Sons of God are about to come fully conscious in His presence and power to set creation free. We know these things and we are beginning to walk in them. HALLELUJAH!
Jesus has been given a Name that is above every other name, that at the Name of Jesus every knee should bow, and every tongue confess. Oh how wonderful it will be when all of creation acknowledges the works of the THE SON OF MAN. When we really see Him as He is, we will be like Him for we will see him as He is. He never asked to be worshiped as a man. He always said, “I of my own self can do nothing, it is my Father in me that does the work.” This is true of all of us. We cannot do anything as a human being, but when we awaken to the spiritual life we realize that we are as he is. We can never be defeated again. No matter what anyone says about us, no matter what names we are called, be it New Age or whatever, it cannot disturb our peace or composure. We have been unveiled to our true nature and we love regardless of circumstances.
BE A PARTAKER
“Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made me able to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light.” Colossians 1:12. God has made you able to be a partaker of the inheritance of the saints in light. We must realize that we have been made a partaker. You do not have to try to be a partaker. God says, “I have made you able.” Paul says, “We are ministers of the new testament, not of the letter, but of the spirit, for the Spirit gives you life.”
“Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.” 2 Pet. 1:4
One of the ways you awake to the divine nature is by receiving the promises of God. Also by realizing what you are trying so hard to become, God has already made you to be in the new creation.
DELIVERED FROM THE POWER OF DARKNESS
All you need to do is turn from your old carnal reasoning and be renewed in the spirit of your mind. “Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness and has translated us into the kingdom of His Son.” He has delivered us from the power of darkness. The church is still trying to get free because they believe the lie rather than the truth. The church is still trying to get free because of the carnal mentality, because of not being able to receive, with simplicity, the engrafted Word that is able to save your souls. You receive the living Word of God and it will energize you and even cause you to walk in God’s covenant. You have been delivered from the power of darkness. We all know the power of darkness is satan’s kingdom, the earthly realm, the carnal reasoning. How many people do you know today who are still trying to get out of satan’s kingdom? I am talking about Christians. How many Christians do you know who are still walking in darkness, who are still trying to get out from underneath the rule and dominion of the satanic influence? Still fighting demons and devils. It is deception! They are still living and trying to rule from the earth rather than the heavens. Satan lies to them through their carnal mind. He says, “Because you are this way – because you have this habit – because you do this – because you do that, I have you in my dominion and control.” I say, “devil, you are a liar; because the Word of God says to me that He has delivered me from the authority of darkness. ‘In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.” The life is the light.
How come we can go into so many Christian meetings, and there is no light? There is no light because there is no life. Life produces light. In Him is life, and the life produces light. You get a hold of the reality of the Spirit of God on the inside of you, and light will begin to penetrate into your mind and revelation will come to you because of the presence of God that abides within you. May God open our eyes, because it is not a struggle. You receive your deliverance from demonic influence as easily as you would take a dollar bill from my hand should I give it to you. You just receive it, and then believe it. You don’t even have to feel like it, and that is where the problem comes in. Until we learn to go by the authority in our spirit, regardless of how we feel, we will never experience the release from the kingdom of darkness, because it does not come by feeling, it comes by receiving and believing. I can have a cigarette in my hand, I can believe by the power of God in my spirit that I am a new creation and God has delivered me from the authority of darkness, and there is no demon in Hell, there is no spirit of nicotine that can take possession of my body. “In Jesus Name, (in His stead) I break the power of the addition, and I stand as a new creation man. I stand as a seed of Abraham. I stand in the blessings and the inheritance of God; and I command this desire for nicotine to dry up.” I will tell you, that is how you come out from underneath the dominion of satan. You do it again and again. I don’t care if you smoke a hundred times a day. Whatever it is, whatever the habit, whatever the hang up; if the enemy hits you a hundred times a day, you fight with the spoken word. That is the only weapon we have. The only weapon you need to defeat the enemy is the word that you speak out of your mouth. The words that you speak from your spirit will break the power of darkness. If we are only speaking from the intellect it will be to no avail. We must speak from our spirit and what we know to be the truth in our heart. If the church gets a hold of this, we will set creation free; we will set it a blaze with the fire of the Holy Spirit. The fire of God will burn out all of the carnality and negativity within us.
YOUR WORDS WILL SET YOU FREE
Your words will set you free or keep you in bondage. “In whom we have redemption through His blood, even the forgiveness of sins.” Oh the goodness of God! Remember, you can never exhaust the supply of God’s forgiveness. God does not look at your sin. God imputes to you His righteousness. When you understand that, you will understand freedom from sin (the carnal mind). The enemy cannot knock you down enough times that God will not cause you to stand and rise upon your feet, if you can believe. God has transferred us into His kingdom. You cannot be regenerated without being placed in God’s kingdom, but it is a spiritual kingdom. It is a secret kingdom, secret only until your eyes are unveiled, and you begin to understand some of the riches of the new covenant. You begin to enter into some of the benefits of the Will, and then it is no longer for you, a secret kingdom. God delights to unveil to His people the riches of His resurrection life that He has placed within them, but they must realize everything is available to them through the spirit within them. It is theirs through inheritance.
Religion has absolutely robbed us of the reality of God’s righteousness. Man will do everything except believe God in simplicity. He will pray, read the Bible, go to church; he will do everything except receive the simple Word that says, “You have been delivered from the power of the enemy.” We have been delivered, not someday will be delivered. The best cure for a sin-consciousness is the renewing of the mind. Let’s look at Ephesians chapter 4 and verse 17, “This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind.” If it were not possible, He would not give us that warning. We can see by the condition the church is in today, they need to hear this Word. “Walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of your/their mind. Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God (that is in them) through the ignorance that is in them, (the carnal mind) because of the blindness of their hearts.” That is the condition of the vast majority of God’s people today. “Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God that is within them.” There is enough power in us if it were fully awakened, to turn the world upside down. We have enough power to establish the Kingdom of God on this earth.
So many are walking in darkness not realizing what they have on the inside of their being. Having sin-consciousness rather than God-consciousness. We are more aware of our weakness and our inabilities than we are of the consciousness of God to put us over, to make us stand in any situation.
PUT OFF THE OLD AND PUT ON THE NEW
Paul says, in verse twenty-two, “Put off concerning the former manner of living the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, and be renewed in the spirit of your mind.” Eph. 4:11. When you are renewed in the spirit of your mind, you have the mind of Christ, and it is awaking. You do not one day think like a man, and the next day think like God, but by meditation, prayer, and being in His presence on a daily basis, your mind begins to be saturated with the Living Word not the dead letter. You become aware of His presence; and you begin to then feel the strength that comes from deep inside of you from the Spirit of the living God. “That ye put off the old man.” Oh my, how I use to struggle to do that. But do you know, a man who is in sin-consciousness, a man who is self-conscious cannot put off his old man. You can struggle with it, you can strive with it and take it to your grave; but until your mind is renewed, you will never put off the old man. Listen to what Paul says. Paul even tells you here how to do it. And we have done everything but – “Be renewed in the spirit of your mind; and that ye put on the new man, which according to God is created in righteousness and true holiness.” That is the new man on the inside of you. He is created according to God with His righteousness and holiness, YOU, the spirit of man on the inside of you; you have been recreated in His righteousness and holiness. Paul tells you now how to put on the new man. “Wherefore put away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbor:” Eph. 4:25. It is that simple. That is how you put on the new man. You begin to speak the truth. You put away every lie. Everything in your life that is not according to godliness, do not give voice to it, but speak the truth. You can be full of hang-ups. If you speak about the hang-ups, and you speak about the habits, and you speak about the problems, you are strengthening the carnal man. But if you begin to let those things die by not giving expression to the carnal man, you will begin to rise in glorious victory. “Put away lying and speak the truth every man with his neighbor.” What is the truth? We know the truth is what God has spoken. You want to put away your old carnal self-life? You want to see your flesh die? Don’t give it expression. Anything without expression has to die. And what you give expression to will live and be strengthened. That is why Proverbs tells us that, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue.” Prov. 18:21. What do you want, death or life? If you speak death, if you speak according to your carnal nature, if you speak about your habits, and all your faults and how you cannot be obedient, you will give strength to your carnal man. But if you speak life, you will strengthen the spiritual man. Of course this is not just a matter of being positive and speaking positive. Being positive is much better than being negative but you must speak from what you know to be true in your heart. Just give voice to your spiritual man and the expression will come.
We all know that man was created in the likeness and the image of God, and God creates by speaking. He just said, “Light, be. Let the earth come up out of the waters.” You can say, “Life, be. life, be. I release the light of God to flow into my mind. I release the new creation man on the inside of me to take dominion over the flesh.” It is that simple. You don’t have to fight. You don’t have to struggle. Simply release the power of God. Let’s read these verses again. “That ye put off concerning the former manner of living, the old man, which is corrupt according to deceitful lust. Be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and holiness. Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbor.”…And it is that simple. People come to me all the time, and I tell them, “The best thing I can tell you to do is be quiet. If you cannot speak what God says about you, if you cannot believe the Word of God, why are you a Christian?” Do you know a born again child of God is a believer? Do you know that you are a believer? And you realize this when you are confronted with these kinds of truths. I am a believer! There is something in me that will not allow me to disagree with the Word of God. Yet until our tongue is tamed, we will constantly speak things that are not in agreement with our new nature. We do it because we are ignorant. Ignorant means, you just do not know. I did not know any better. But when you begin to speak only those things that are according to godliness, it will cause the strength of God to rise up on the inside of you. Glory to God!
God’s righteousness, when you understand it, will restore to you your right standing with God. You will have the same consciousness that Jesus had when He approached the Father. You say, “But I am so sinful.” But He took your sin upon the cross of Calvary. “As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.” Psa. 103:12 “For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.” Heb. 8:12
When you go before God, He does not look at your sin, He chooses not to even remember it. He does not look at your failure; He is only conscious of seeing one coming to Him who is robed in the righteousness of Jesus Christ through faith in His blood and in His Name. That is how God looks at you. Jesus had no sense of fear in the face of death. He stood boldly before the tomb of Lazarus and said, “Lazarus, come forth.” When the church awakes to the righteousness of God, the church will do the works of God. We’ve been waiting for years for the fulfillment of Jesus’ words that said, “He that believes in me, the works that I do shall he do, and even greater works shall he do, because I go to the Father,” and the church will never do the works of God until we realize that “God is in us both to will and to do of His good pleasure.” Phil. 2:13. He has made us just as righteous as Jesus. You, as a new creation man, are just as righteous as Jesus Himself. Jesus knew He was a master over satan. He had no consciousness of failing when He came up against satan and you can be assured of the same victory over the human thinking and beliefs.
Paul said in Philippians, “Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who thought it not robbery to be equal with God.” You see; we have had a false sense of humility. We have even been taught to be humble in the wrong sense. We have been taught to approach God as poor miserable sinners, worms of the dust. That is not how you approach God. You approach God on the basis of His righteousness, of His shed blood, knowing that He has cleansed you and you stand as cleansed before Him, as Jesus Christ. No sense of inferiority! In the consciousness of your new man, you are not inferior to anyone. You may say, “Now wait a minute. If I was not inferior, wouldn’t I be proud?” No. There is a real humility in godliness, a real humility when you realize that God is your life. There are times when the God of glory fills you to over-flowing, when you can fall on your face and you can weep before God. No, you do not feel pride, you feel humility that God could take someone such as you and re-create you and fill you full of His power, fill you full of His intercession, full of His divine love for all of creation. Oh God, how sometimes I lie on my face and I cry before God, and I say, “Father, how long are your people going to sit in darkness when there is such light being revealed?” Oh, it is time for the church to wake up.”
When you understand your righteousness, your real fellowship with God is restored. Man lost that fellowship in the garden, the closeness of being able to walk and talk with God. Man has much more now than just the ability to walk and talk with God, He has God living and moving within him. Oh, when I reach out with my hand, and I touch you, it is as though Jesus touches you. If you are weak, if there is sin in your life, in the Name of Jesus, the very touch of His hand is all that you need to experience forgiveness and restoration. “Know ye not that your bodies are the temple of the Holy Ghost”, and that God seeks a body in which He can bless humanity? Fellowship is restored, and your peace with God is restored through a proper realization of righteousness. The people of God are in such turmoil, not having much peace because of not having a proper understanding of righteousness. They don’t understand that their righteousness does not come through works, but it comes by God unveiling you to the reality of your being. When you can stand as Jesus did and say, “I am the truth,” you will have been awakened to the truth of the Gospel. As wicked as I might have been, as full of habits as I once was, even when I was dead in sins and trespasses, the scriptures still said, “I have made you alive. I have placed my very life, my Spirit, in your being and made you alive even when you were dead in trespasses and sin.”
Righteousness also restores freedom to you. When you have the consciousness of His righteousness, you are so free. Nothing ever again can bring you into bondage. The only way you fail, the only way you slip back into the old consciousness is you forget again that you are a spiritual being justified by Calvary not by the works of the law but by faith in the Blood of Jesus.
We must be diligent to take every thought into captivity that comes to us through the carnal mind. You see, the scripture tells us, “Of Him, are you in Christ Jesus.” 1 Cor. 1:30. The Father God has placed us in Christ Jesus, but where are you living? The body is dead because of sin, and if you are following the dictates of your flesh – Where are you living? “In Him is life, and the life is the light.” Oh, if you will just begin to live in Him, live in your spirit – Do you know that to live in the Spirit is to live in your spirit? He said, “If you abide in me, and my Words abide in you” – see we cannot get away from speaking. “If my words abide in you, out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks. “If my words abide in you” – Do you know that if the words of God abide in you, you are limitless as to what you can receive from the Father? “For if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.” 1 John 5:14. If we know He hears us, we know that we have the things we ask for. You talk about knowing the will of God; once you know the will of God, and once His words abide in you, you become not just a hearer of the word but a doer. Oh, I cannot wait until the church comes into the fullness of the inheritance of the saints in light. How exciting when we begin to function from our spirit-man, when we begin to identify with the death of Christ, not by struggling and trying to overcome, but simply by agreeing the work is finished. All I need to do is live from my spiritual identity instead of this mistaken identity of a limited human being who is separate from God.
This is how I now speak. “Father I thank you that I have been buried with Jesus Christ by baptism into death. And like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so I now also walk in the newness of life. For I have been planted together in the likeness of His death, therefore I am also in the likeness of His resurrection-life. For I know that my old man was crucified with Him. I know that my body of sin was destroyed, that henceforth I do not serve sin. For he that is dead is freed from sin. Now I know that if I am dead with Christ, I am also alive with Him, for I am raised from the dead. I do not allow sin dominion in my mortal body. I do not yield my members as instruments of sin, (carnal thinking) but I yield myself as one who is alive from the dead, and my members as instruments of righteousness unto God. For sin does not, sin does not, have dominion over me, for I am not under the law but I am under the grace of God. And the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared unto me teaching me that denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, I live soberly, I live righteously and I live godly in this present world. I look for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and my savior Jesus Christ. Oh, He has redeemed me from all iniquity, and He has purified me. He has purchased me, and I am zealous of His good works.”
How are you speaking in your daily life? “If you abide in Me and My words abide in you.” That is what God wants you to release in His presence, His all-powerful, all creative word. Jesus is the express image of the Father, upholding all things by the Word of His power. If you stand, it will be because of the Word of His power coming alive on the inside of you. Peter says, “We are kept by the power of God through faith.” Do not try to keep yourself. It is too hard. You cannot do it. We are kept through the power of God, by faith.
Righteousness will restore to you sonship. Oh, Halleluiah. When you begin to understand some of these things, and have the light of God penetrate your mind you will wonder, “Where have I been the last thirty years as a Christian? Where have you been?” – In the strugglings of the flesh – The church has been in the flesh, trying to get out instead of understanding and believing the Word of God. I John chapter 3, “Behold, what manner of love the Father has bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knows us not, because it knew him not.” You begin to live like a Son of God and the world will say, “Who is this?” “Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. I John 3:2
Now we are the sons of God, and when he appears – Paul said, “When it please God to reveal His son in me.” We know that when He appears in us we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. That is why he goes on to say, “Every man that has this hope in Him purifies himself, even as he is pure.” We purify ourselves continually day-by-day, moment-by-moment. We stand in the righteousness and in the blood of Jesus having this hope in ourselves, knowing that there will come a day when Christ, the Son of the living God, will be manifested fully within me. When He appears, I shall be like Him for I shall see Him as He is. The world longs to see the manifestation of the sons of the living God. These are the days when the sons are coming forth. I will tell you, this is present-day revelation for the church of God. That is why it is being taught across the land, because these are the days.
The early Apostles went forth proclaiming the Word with signs following. And you will never speak a word of the living God by the Spirit of God without the signs following. The signs following this Word are the life that will begin to spring up inside of you, and you will understand that you have within you, the ability to live Godly on this earth. Beloved, NOW are we the sons of God. Do not wait to be a son.
You begin to enter God’s presence by releasing your inner man. When we came together, what a joy when you hear one after the other begin to speak and release praises and prayers and worship unto God. There will come a day when God’s sons and daughters will come together by the hundreds releasing the praises and the testimonies of their experiences in God. “They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony.” The day is here when men and women from all walks of life are proclaiming the glories of God. They shall decree a thing, and it shall come to pass, because they have the all-creative power of God coming forth on the inside of their being. They are the “One new man” of Ephesians. They are standing in the oneness of God. They are standing in the light of God. They are standing in the revelation of God. They are standing as sons of the living God. They are receiving all the benefits of the will (the New Covenant). They shall establish the Kingdom of God in its fullness in this earth. You need to prophesy this way, because that is what is happening in these days. A little group of people here and there are awakening to their true identity. Give us a few more months, another year, five years; I don’t care how long God takes. God’s people will be so full of the glory of God that people will run to us in numbers because they are hungry for reality. Praise God for the reality of His life in us.
A NEW KIND OF LOVE – NEW LIFE
Righteousness is one of the most astounding revelations given to man. Until God’s people understand the basic revelation of God’s righteousness, and I do not mean just understand it mentally with the mind, but a revelation deep on the inside of their being, they will always, at most, be a babe in Christ. You may want to be righteous and holy but you will never be able to experientially walk in righteousness until you have this revelation. To walk in righteousness is not just a good teaching. It means that God’s nature is formed in you and you are living by His life and not the life of the ego or carnal thinking.
You must understand that righteousness is not earned, but is imputed to you. Man will never be any more righteous if he lives to be 199,000 years old than he is the moment his spirit is quickened in regeneration. Righteousness is based upon the new creation man in Christ – not on anything we have done or can do. In Romans chapter 9 and verse 30-33, Paul says, “What shall we say then? That the Gentiles, which followed not after righteousness, have attained to righteousness, even the righteousness which is of faith. But Israel, which followed after the law of righteousness, hath not attained to the law of righteousness. Why? Because they sought it not by faith, but by works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumbling stone. As it is written, Behold, I lay in Zion a stumbling stone and rock of offence: and whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.
God says, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge:” Hosea 4:6. Not the heathen, but “My people.” The word “destroyed” here means, “cut off”. God’s people are cut off because of a lack of knowledge. They do not understand God’s righteousness. They go about trying to establish righteousness by their conduct. “For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.” Romans 10:3
We have all tried to establish our own righteousness before God by our conduct. If you have any kind of a sense that you need to do something to make yourself righteous, you are not submitting yourself to the righteousness of God. If you feel there is something lacking in your life you need to do to make yourself acceptable to God, you do not believe the simple word of God. In our spirit we are a complete and perfect person. When you are living from that consciousness you do not have to try to be or do anything. A son of God can only be a son of God. See yourself as a son, and you will begin to function as a son. We all know God is calling forth the overcomers. By all means we want to be overcomers. The problem is in us TRYING TO BE overcomers rather than realizing we ARE overcomers. The moment we are born again we are overcomers and nothing can stop it except our unbelief in what God has said.
“Having not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.” How do we submit ourselves to the righteousness of God? Very simply – we believe God as Abraham believed. God said to Abraham, “I’m going to give you a son,,” and Abraham said, “OK, I believe you.” It is really that simple. Now we all know Abraham tried to produce a son by his own efforts and created an Ishmael, and we have all done the same thing. Nevertheless, God made him a promise. He said, “I am going to make you a father. And through you, ALL the families of the earth will be blessed.” Gen. 28:14 Now when God says something like that to either Abraham or to us, that word does not depend upon our performance. God is going to do what He is going to do regardless of what you are going to do, or not do. When God said to Abraham “Through you, all the families of the earth will be blessed,” and when He said, “I am going to give you a son for your inheritance,” there was nothing Abraham could do to change the word of God.
God has also given you and me many promises. Peter says “We are partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust,” and we do it by receiving the promises of God. You remember I shared in Ephesians, Paul said, “According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love.” Eph. 1:4 Now that is God’s choice, and it has nothing to do with your choice. If you can believe it, you can receive it. You do not have to try to be righteous and holy and without blame. That is what He has made us to be in spirit. In fact, the more you try to be like God, the more you find yourself in the position of the majority of the Christians of today. Not submitting themselves to the righteousness of God, they try to produce their own righteousness. To submit yourself to the righteousness of God is to realize and stand in the reality of what God says, “I have made you righteous.” The scriptures tell us, “By one man all men were made righteous.” God does not impute sin; He imputes righteousness. The Apostle Paul says, “For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God. For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone that believes.” All you need is enough faith to believe what God has said. In your heart you believe, so why not stand in it and confess it when you know it to be the truth.
Paul, in Romans 10:6, talks about a new kind of righteousness. The old kind of righteousness, in the Old Testament, was a limited righteousness based upon works or conduct, where as the new kind of righteousness under the new covenant and in the New Testament is an unlimited righteousness which you receive according to Romans 10:6-10, “Righteousness which is of faith speaks on this wise.” Righteousness is by faith, and faith always speaks. What does faith speak? Faith speaks that which God inputs to you through the Word. Faith always speaks what God says He has given to you. “The word is nigh thee, (in verse 8) even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; that if you shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” Christians have been struggling and trying for two thousand years to be righteous and holy before God, yet verse 10 tells you how to do it., “For with the heart man believes unto righteousness.”
When God quickens your spirit, when you receive Jesus, He quickens your inner-man. Your inner-man in your new heart believes the Word of God. The problem is with the carnal mentality. The problem is with what we call, “sense knowledge”—what we touch, hear, taste, smell, and see. There are two kinds of knowledge— sense knowledge and revelation knowledge. Sense knowledge is what the natural carnal man lives by. Most Christians live by this sense knowledge. Oh, how much anguish we sometimes experience because we want to experience spiritual things with our five senses. If you ever learn to live above your feelings it is a wonderful freedom. Christians suffer so many things such as depression and condemnation and a myriad of other things because they do not know how to live above what they feel. “I do not feel righteous so I must not be righteous.” “I feel so sick all the time, surely healing was not provided at the cross.” I am so full of lust and bad thoughts, I must not be saved.” “I do not FEEL like God loves me, so He must not.” This kind of thinking will never bring you to the place of faith in God. This is why the Apostle Paul said we must be renewed in the spirit of our mind. In the spirit. we do not have to have sense knowledge. We just KNOW what God says is true.
A big one is always trying to feel the presence of God. This is a good desire and it is wonderful to feel the presence of the Lord; but if you learn to live above your natural feelings, you will realize you are ALWAYS in the presence of the Lord. You can never get away from His presence. David said in Psa. 139:7-8 “Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence? If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.”
“Revelation knowledge” is what the Word reveals to us. You do not have to experience it in the sense realm. You do not have to feel revelation knowledge, you just know it. When you know it by revelation you begin to speak it; and then you will experience it. “For with the heart, man believes unto righteousness.” With your heart, you believe what God has said to you. God says “He has made Him to be sin for us, who knew no sin, that we might be made the righteousness of God.” 2 Cor. 5:21
Righteousness is imputed or given to you simply by believing Jesus paid the penalty and took your old nature to the cross and then imputed to you, in resurrection-life, His righteousness. Paul’s epistles are a revelation of the realities of redemption. Righteousness is a basic revelation of Paul’s writings. Paul reveals to us that righteousness is legally ours. If something is legally yours, which means you do not have to work for it, or earn it, you just receive it.
Your bank account is legally yours. You withdraw from your account that which is legally yours. Righteousness is legally ours. Paul also reveals a new kind of love in his epistles. Righteousness, first of all, gives you a right standing in your relationship with God. That is all righteousness really means. It means you are in right standing. You have a right to enter God’s presence, not based upon your conduct, but based upon your faith and belief in the Word of God which states you have been forgiven, you have been cleansed, you do not have to do anything except believe God has made the way for you. Righteousness has been given to you, which enables you to enter into His presence without any sense of guilt, shame, inferiority, or any other weakness. You are in right standing with God, He has made you right through the blood of Jesus and the cross.
A NEW KIND OF LOVE
When you understand righteousness, you also begin to understand the new kind of love. The greatest thing man has is human love. But human love is from the wrong source. Human love is still from the carnal nature. I can prove this to you. The nature man received when he partook of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil was just that – a nature of good and evil – and that is the nature of the serpent. He took into himself the serpent’s seed. Now we know that every seed produces after its’ own kind. Man partook of the serpentine nature. Then what happens to human love? It is the greatest thing man has in human life; but human love very easily turns to resentment, to bitterness, and to hatred. Paul reveals to us in his epistles the new kind of love. We have not only received the righteousness of God and right standing with Him, but we have also received the new kind of love. If you are a Christian, – if you have the life and the nature of God within you, – you have the new kind of love. This love, which God has deposited within you, is not subject to circumstances or conditions, and it is not a limited love. The love of God that has been shed abroad in our hearts is an unlimited and an unconditional love.
In our natural world, we have become so accustomed to a conditional love. Men and women experience this all the time in the marriage relationship. Many times, they are so “in love” – until they get married. Then, if they are not spiritual, they try to change their mates into what they want. If they are Christians, they often feel justified in attempting to make their mates more spiritual. Many have said to me, “I thought my wife or husband was more spiritual when I married them,” I will admit it can be a difficult situation when one is more spiritual in a marriage than the other, but you should never try to change your mate into what you want. Many try to change their mates by putting them under the law. “You know you shouldn’t do that and God cannot bless you as long as you do it.” Many times we try to change others by making them feel guilty so they will do what we want. Sometimes after years of trying to change the other person, they finally give up and decide that if the other person will not change, they cannot love them anymore. They have fallen out of love with their mates because they cannot make them into the person they think they should be. There is nothing spiritual about this kind of love. Many have said to me, “I know God brought us together and it was His will; but I cannot take this any longer.” This is a natural, soulish, conditional love that most of us have experienced. This is the root cause of many divorces. “If I cannot have what I want and you cannot give me what I need, then the marriage is over.” The only way a marriage should ever end is by the leading of the Lord.
There is a predominant teaching today in some circles about “DOVE MARRIAGES,” also called “Twin Flames.” I am not against such a teaching, but many have used it as an excuse to dump their mate in order to “find their dove.” Some of the more SEEMINGLY spiritual ones will counsel others to divorce their mate if they feel the mate is not their dove. People who teach this and then advise others to dump their mate to find their doves are treading in places they ought not. These people are also controllers who will manipulate every area of your life if you let them. I am not saying you should never leave a mate, but you need to make sure God is leading you and you are not being led by your natural desires or by the control of another.
Not too many have experienced an unconditional love in a marriage relationship. Unconditional love NEVER tries to change the other person. Unconditional love serves and expects nothing in return. Love just loves regardless of what the other person does or does not do. This kind of love is the only thing that can bring lasting change into a relationship. If someone knows you love them unconditionally, they cannot help but respond to that kind of love. The reason we try to change another is we do not believe God can do it without our help. Whenever you try to change another, you are usurping the Holy Spirit. This is not to say we cannot discuss with one another or give advice or make our wants known to one another, but we MUST NOT use control and manipulation to get our own way.
This is the kind of love the new creation man or woman has. This is a righteous love which will flow from your being when you begin to experience the righteousness that has been imputed to you. You were judged at the cross. In fact, all of creation was judged at the cross, and now righteousness is imputed to you as a gift from a loving Father. You have the new kind of love in your spirit, and you cannot judge another. You can only minister to them the love and grace and forgiveness of God.
How many times have you, in your own experience, helped someone? Perhaps you have met someone on the street or you have worked with someone who had a need and you began to help this person. That is wonderful,; but as soon as the person does something to irritate you or upsets you, if you are operating in human love, immediately your love will begin to turn to resentment. The moment you say, “How could that person do that to me, after what I did for him?” it is the sign of a little seed of resentment beginning to creep up within you. How many of us have experienced it? I have. Yet, the new kind of love will simply keep loving. God’s love will pour itself out upon an individual. Then, when the individual begins to turn against you, there will be no resentment, and there will be no bitterness. There will still be the capacity for you to love the person who does you wrong. Jesus taught this—did he not? He said, “But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;” Matt 5:44
Matthew 5, 6, and 7 are not some things that we hopefully someday reach out and can attain to, but Matthew 5, 6, and 7 are a picture of the Christian life. The new kind of love that we have is nothing less than God’s life and nature being manifested in us.
I want to quote from the Amplified version of the Bible, I Corinthians chapter 13, because this shows you what you have within you. In verse 4, “Love endures long and is patient and kind; love never is envious nor boils over with jealousy, love is not boastful or vainglorious, it does not display itself haughtily. It is not conceited, arrogant and inflated with pride; it is not rude, unmannerly, and does not act unbecomingly. Love, God’s love in us, does not insist on its own rights or its own way, for it is not self-seeking; it is not touchy or fretful or resentful; it takes no account of the evil done to it, It pays no attention to a suffered wrong. Love does not rejoice at injustice and unrighteousness, but rejoices when right and truth prevail. Love bears up under anything and everything that comes, is ever ready to believe the best of every person, its hopes are fadeless under all circumstances, and it endures everything without weakening. Love never fails, never fades out or becomes obsolete or comes to an end.” Now that is the new kind of love Christians have within them. If you are born again, you have this kind of love. The only reason most Christians do not experience this love is because they go by sense knowledge (what they feel in the natural), and not by the reality in their spirit (he new creation man). When people do us wrong we get mad and make the wrong choices. The new kind of love makes the right kind of choices. By making the right choices, you begin to experience the stirring of God within your spirit. We experience the new kind of love by laying aside our desires and serving others.
To give you a simple illustration; we sometimes fight over the silliest things to have our own way. A couple I know did this constantly for four years. They forever were insisting upon their own rights and their own ways about a silly little thing,. He would say, “I do not like frozen bread.” See, his wife would not allow him to leave a loaf of bread laying out on the counter. It had to go in the freezer. I am telling you the truth, they fought for almost four years over this, both wanting their own way. He did not care if he could thaw the bread out in the microwave in 30 seconds, he did not like it and he did not want it. Oh well! They laugh about it now, but these kind of silly little things keep us from experiencing the new kind of love. It caused him to be angry with his wife, and her to be upset with her husband. A simple little thing like that will stop the new kind of love from operating. Who gives a flip about frozen or unfrozen bread? Yet they openly displayed their attitudes. “Well, what do you care if the bread is on the counter? What is the big deal,” he would say. “Yes, what is the big deal?” The big deal is, if you are not willing to drop whatever it is that is offending you, it causes the new kind of love to be stopped and dammed up on the inside of you. It takes just a little resentment, just a little bit. Just a little thing like, “I just don’t understand why my wife can’t leave the bread on the counter,” can create a little bit of resentment. You cannot have resentment toward anyone and experience the new kind of love. We have to drop everything – absolutely everything, to experience this love.
Love is always willing and ready to minister to the needs of the other person. It does not matter how they respond. It is a silly little thing, but it does not matter. Love is always willing to leave the bread on the counter. Love is always willing to leave the bread in the freezer. It is not a matter of who gets their own way. In a sense, it is, because whoever gives in is the one who really wins in the long run. The more you give to the other person, regardless of whether their actions or words are fair, right, or wrong, the more you are experiencing the mind of Christ. That is what the new love is all about, gaining and increasing the deposit of life that is within our being.
A NEW KIND OF LIFE
Paul also reveals to us that we have received a new kind of life, and that life says, “How can I serve you?” It is not what I want, it is “What do you want?” God’s life is a life of a servant. I have often said that service to God is serving Christ in one another. We think when we come together in a Church meeting, it is a service. I believe the way you serve God is to serve God. I serve you something from my spirit, something of God. I serve all of you by meeting your needs. That is really service to God. That is what a minister is. Everyone can be a minister. We can all serve God. I receive something from God a revelation, a teaching, or a song – and I simply share it with you. I am serving to you something that I have received from the Father. Well, that is what has been given to us – a new kind of life. You see, the natural life is always wanting to take, but the new kind of life is always giving. Jesus said, “I am come that you might have life,” and the word “life” there is the Greek word “Zoë”, which is simply “God’s life”. He came to replace your human life with His life. He said, “The life that I give you is the abundant life.”
Why is it Christians do not experience the abundant life? It is because they do not believe they have it. If you do not believe you have it, how can you experience it? In our experience of God, we first of all are regenerated in our spirit. We just simply call on the Name of Jesus or reach out to God and our spirit is made alive and becomes one with His spirit. Then we hear about the Baptism in the Holy Spirit. So many of us wait for some kind of an experience and I am not saying you do not experience anything, but you will simply take God at His word, He says, “My Father gives the Holy Spirit to them that ask Him,” and you receive the Holy Spirit just as you receive Jesus for the new birth. Out of your innermost being flows living water. The more you begin to release praises and worship unto God from your inner-man, and the more you speak God’s words according to His principles, the more you will experience – even with your senses – the infilling of the Holy Spirit. You can be filled to overflowing simply by exercising what you already have within you. People sit day after day not realizing that bottled up on the inside they have everything they need. If they learn how to release their new creation man they will experience it. This is why we talk so much about learning how to release your spirit, because in your inner-man, you are one with God. When you learn how to release your spirit from your innermost being the very essence of God begins to flow. Your words then become spirit and life to others. Jesus came and gave us that new kind of life.
Let us look at John 14. These things are so simple, yet they are so profound. As we, the new creation, begin to get a hold of the reality of what Jesus has given to us and what we have become by His indwelling, and begin to get the revelation knowledge of this, it will produce the glorious church that Jesus is coming in. In John 14, Jesus says, “Let not your heart be troubled; ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions.” The word “mansions” should not have been translated “mansions”. The word there is really “abiding places,” and the word house means “residence.”, “In my Father’s residence are many dwelling places.” I know a lot of people think Jesus went away with a hammer and some nails and is building mansions in the sky so someday when you die, you can be where He is. Listen as this unfolds. “In my Father’s house are many abiding places. If it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you unto myself that where I am, there ye may be also.” Now He went to prepare a place for us, and He says, “I will come again, so that where I am you may be also.” Now He is going to tell them later on where He actually is. “Where I go you know, and the way you know. Thomas said unto Him, ‘Lord how can we know?’ (He said,) ‘Lord we don’t know where you go, and how can we know the way? Jesus said unto him, ‘I am the way, the truth and the life. No man comes unto the Father but by me. If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also, and from henceforth ye know Him and have seen Him. Philip said unto him, ‘Lord, show us the Father, and it suffices us’. Jesus said unto him, ‘Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? He that hath seen me hath seen the Father. And how say you ‘Show us the Father’? Believe thou not that I am in the Father?” Now He is telling you now where He is. Let us go back to verse 3. “I go to prepare a place for you, and I will come again and receive you unto myself that where I am, there you may be.” Back to verse 10, “Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? The words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself; but the Father that dwells in me, he doeth the works. Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works’ sake. Verily, I say unto you, he that believes on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do because I go unto my Father. And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye love me, you keep my commandments, and I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive.” Verse 18, “I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.” The word “comfortless” can also be rendered “orphans”. He says, “I am going away but I am not going to leave you an orphan. I am going away, but I am coming back to you again. Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also. At that day (now what day is He talking about?), “At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you.” His whole discourse here is talking about a day coming called the “Day of Pentecost” – not the second coming in the clouds, but right here He is referring to the day of Pentecost. He is telling them, “I am going to go away. I am going to prepare a place for you. I am going into death. When I go into death, I am taking every negative thing which is in your life and every negative thing in this universe into death. By taking it into death and being raised up then as the head of a new race, I am preparing a place for you so that where I am in my Father, there you can be. Just as I live and dwell and move and have my being in my Father, and my Father is in me, after I go away into death and resurrect and prepare that place for you, you can enter into that presence and into that place where I am. At that day, on the day of Pentecost, I will tell you, when the Spirit of God enters into you, and then you will be filled both inwardly and outwardly with the Spirit of God, in that day you will know I am in My Father, and ye in me, and I in you. He that hath My commandments and keeps them is he that loves Me. And he that loves Me shall be loved of My Father, and I will love him, and will manifest Myself to him.” In verse 23, “Jesus said, ‘if a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.” That word “abode” here is the same word that is translated “mansions” in verse 14:2. “In my Father’s house are many mansions.” The same word is translated “mansions” in one place and “abode” in the other.
Faith speaks on this wise: “I have received the righteousness of God. I know that not based upon my conduct, but upon the Word of His righteousness, I have been redeemed from the hand of the enemy. I stand before my Father God as clean as if I had never sinned. Jesus is my elder brother. The same life that flows through the body of Jesus Christ now lives and flows in me. There is no separation anymore between me and God.” See, faith speaks on this wise. This is the way faith speaks. Sense-knowledge will look at your experience and say, “But you missed it here, you did this this past week, so it must mean the Word is not working for you.” Or, “It certainly cannot apply to you because you did this or that.” But faith speaks on this wise: “Jesus has made me righteous. Now when I fall, I do not feel very righteous, but because I believe what God said, God has made me righteous.” Jesus said, “If you keep my words,” if you walk in the light as He is in the light, the blood of Jesus Christ cleanses you from every sin. He said if we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. So if you will keep His Word – “if you keep My word, my Father will love him – If a man love me, he will keep my words, and my Father will love him and we will come unto him and make our abode with him. He that loves me not keeps not my sayings and the word which he hears, not mine but the Father which has sent me, these things have I spoken unto you being yet present with you, but the comforter which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance whatever I have said unto you. The comforter, which is the Holy Ghost whom the Father will send in my name” – This whole chapter is talking about the day of Pentecost, a day to come very quickly. Jesus came as the baptizer of the Holy Spirit upon the day of Pentecost, and filled 120 people. Their lives drastically changed, not just a little bit, but they entered immediately into the knowledge of the new kind of righteousness, a new kind of love, a new kind of faith and a new kind of life. Remember how Peter was changed so drastically on the day of Pentecost? Just a short time before, he was a mere human. He loved God with his human love. He loved Him with all of his heart. He said, “God I would never, ever betray you.” Yet he did, because human love cannot measure up. But on the day of Pentecost, that same Peter stood fearlessly before thousands without any fear at all, and proclaimed the gospel of Jesus Christ, because he had a new kind of life, and a new kind of love. The church needs to get back into the revelation of God’s righteousness, and God’s love. In John 15, “I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman. Every branch in me that bears not fruit he takes away: and every branch that bears fruit, he purges it, that it may bring forth more fruit. Now ye are clean through the word, which I have spoken unto you. Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine, no more can ye, except ye abide in me. I am the vine; ye are the branches. He that abides in me, and I in him, the same brings forth much fruit.” Well, how do we abide in Him? We abide in Jesus by keeping His words. We abide in Jesus by putting the bread in the freezer and forgetting the whole mess. I am serious. Those simple little things affect your life, because anything that disturbs your rest, or your peace in God needs to be laid aside. When man comes to the point of laying down everything he wants for himself, he is then in a position for the love of God to flow freely like a river from his inner being. The only thing which stops the love of God is selfishness…carnal thinking – we think we have rights. Now humanly speaking, we do have rights. But divinely speaking, the only right we have is to “Love one another, as I have loved you,” as Jesus said. No other right. When the people of God come into the new kind of love, we change the world. If we only realize that through the spirit, the new creation man, we can mortify the carnal thinking then the Son of God will be manifested in us.
I want more than anything else for Christ to be manifested in my flesh. But only one life can live in this vessel. Colossians 3 says, “If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above.” Now affection could be rendered “mind”. Set your mind on things above. Can you imagine going around praising God, thinking about the blessings of God which have been bestowed upon us, and then getting angry about a loaf of bread being put in the freezer? “Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.” The Word never tells you to crucify your flesh. The Word always tells you that you are dead with Christ. From that aspect of an accomplished fact, from that perspective, you live and manifest Christ. The scriptures tell you Jesus took your old man to the cross. Jesus took everything of the old negative “self” to the cross. Then from that consciousness, you mortify the carnal thinking. You simply turn your mind away from carnal thinking and set it on things in the heavenly realm where you are seated with Christ.
“For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. When Christ, who is our life shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.” Col 3:3 Now here is how Christ appears – this is how we appear with Him in glory: “Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth.” Forget about your petty wants and dislikes, what does it really matter if the bread stays on the counter or goes in the freezer? If it causes you anger and resentment, forget it. When we mortify the carnal thinking, then Christ, who is our life, begins to appear within us. We all need to get the vision that the more you lay aside your carnal thinking, the more He lives; and you will experience the Spirit of God rising up on the inside of you and taking dominion over your flesh. There is nothing like the feelings of your spirit taking control of your carnality. There is nothing like it in the entire world that will give you a sense of satisfaction, a sense of peace and joy, knowing your spirit is at last beginning to become strong enough to rise up and take dominion over the works of the flesh. “Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth.” You do this not by trying, but by being and living in the new creation man. When you do, then Christ, who is our life, appears. You see how we have been put to sleep for so long, not realizing the purpose for mortifying the carnal thinking, because when we realize the purpose for it, – to put yourself aside – you realize the rewards are not just future in some heavenly realm somewhere, but the rewards are right now. How many of us would not want to have Jesus Himself, the life of God, being manifested within us? Who would not want the life that knows no defeat and no failure? Who would not want that life? If you by the spirit mortify your likes, your dislikes, your ambitions, your attitudes, and your actions and you let go of your anger, resentment, your bitterness and all those things that keep you in carnality, there will come a day when sickness and disease will not be able to stand in your presence. That means being just like the Apostle Paul, who would sometimes walk by people and his shadow would heal them, because the Apostle Paul was not just a man. The Apostle Paul was both man and God – he was both human and divine. The Apostle Paul was again a replica of the Lord Jesus. Jesus was a pattern or a prototype, if you will¸ of what man is in the new creation. He was the real man God wanted in Adam. He is even called, “the last Adam and the second man”. Paul was a picture of a man who was both human and divine. Paul teaches us that the church is both human and divine. How else could we do the works of God? As we read earlier, Jesus said, “He that believes in me, the works that I do shall he do.” How could we do the works of God, unless God in us did the works? Even Jesus said, “Of mine own self, I cannot do anything.” He said, “It is not Me that does the works, but it is My Father that dwells within me.” So then how could He expect the church to do the works He did, unless they had the same Father and the same life dwelling within them? Man is a dwelling, an abiding place for God – man, the dwelling place of God! Here we sit not doing the works of God, because we do not understand; we have not had revealed to us what Jesus did. He finished the work, and we can enter into His finished work. We have not really accepted and submitted ourselves unto the righteousness of God. We have tried to attain it by some sort of works, or a kind of conduct, or by some code of ethics.
When we begin to understand the righteousness of God, it produces in us the fruit of righteousness, which is holiness. All the things we try to attain to by working through the efforts of the flesh, become spontaneously ours simply by believing what God has said. For with the heart man believes, not with works, but with the heart man believes unto righteousness. “God said it, I believe it.” How many times have you heard it? “God said it. I believe it, and that settles it.” Do you really? Do you really believe what God says, or do you believe what you experience? Because if you believe what you experience rather than what God says, then you will speak your experience rather than speak what God says. But, if you believe what God says more than you believe your experience, then you will speak what God says, and your experience will line up with what God says. The Word says He took our sicknesses, our infirmities, our pain, our griefs, our sorrows, and our sin. He took everything. When you have a revelation of it and begin to speak it, your experience will line up with it. So many Christians say, “Well if everybody was healed at the cross, how come Christians are sick?” Well sin was destroyed at the cross too, but Christians are still sinning because they do not understand. They do not exercise it, they do not speak faith, rather they speak their experience. For it is out of the abundance of the heart the man speaks. Jesus said, “However a man thinks in his heart, so is he.” If you think you are a sinner and you speak like it, you will always manifest it. So you have to change the way you think about yourself. You will not change the way you think about yourself without a revelation and word from God. It is then you begin to realize faith speaks on this wise. This is how faith speaks. “I am healed. In my spirit, the new creation man, I am whole, sinless, and complete in Him. I do not care what happens. I do not care what symptoms my body displays, I am complete and whole. That is the kind of commitment, and the kind of faith God will honor every time. Faith speaks what God says. “Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.” For with the heart man believes unto righteousness. It is so simple, we miss it. You can simply receive. I am talking about experientially now, not just a “mind trip”. But you receive by believing. With the heart, men believe unto righteousness. God says I am righteous; therefore I am My experience might not line up with the Word of God, but I believe the Word of God more than I believe what I experience. I know bondage cannot stay in my life because I believe in the righteousness of God. I believe the blood of Jesus does what the Word says; it cleanses me from every sin – big sins, little sins, any kind of sin, and imputes to me the righteousness of God. Glory to God!
People are looking for a lot of things today, even Christians. Some are looking for the “Antichrist.” Some are looking for the great “Falling away”. Some are looking for the “rapture.”
Praise God that today we are not waiting for something to happen. We are what is happening. God is unveiling us to see the reality of Christ within His people. We are seeing the manifestation of the glory of God within the saints. Thank God we do not have to wait for a “happening.” I am not waiting for the so-called “great falling away.” I am not waiting to be taken out of here. I’m not waiting for the “antichrist,” but I’m participating in the revealing of the manifestation of the glory of God within the saints. God by His Spirit is being revealed within the saints. That’s what we are beginning to see in these days.
God is appearing in a glorious church. The church has always been glorious. The church has never lost her glory. It’s only man’s concept of the church that has made it seem not so glorious, that has filled god’s people full of defeat, failure, depression and hopelessness. The church, in God’s eyes, has never lost her glory because the church is simply Christ. Christ has never lost His glory. Christ in you, Paul says, is the hope of glory. When you have Christ revealed within you then His glory is revealed in you.
The hope of the church is not that someday we will be good enough, or we will be holy enough, or we will be righteous enough that God might favor us. No! The gospel is Jesus Christ in you, and He is your hope of glory. If all you have is the hope of glory then you have not yet seen in reality that Christ is in you. Christ in you is the glory of God. When God looks at you, He sees the Christ within you. He looks past your defeat. He looks past your failures and He sees Christ in His glory.
We have had such a poor concept of God. We’ve been taught a poor concept of our Father God even by most of our religious leaders. I’ve often said that what we know today as Christianity for the most part is not much different than Buddhism, or Hinduism, or any of the religions of the world. What you see out there that is calling itself Christianity is for the most part not much different than any religion in the world.
Buddhism will teach you to be a good, moral, upright person. It teaches you not to commit adultery; and not to do all the bad things. Religion will teach you many good, moral, basic teachings. That’s not what Christianity is all about. Christianity goes a step further than just cleaning up your life. Christianity is God in Christ, through the Spirit, living His life within you. Anything less than Jesus Christ, through the Spirit living in you, is religion. No matter how good you are, no matter how righteous you may think you are, unless Christ is living in you, you are just being religious.
When you realize what being born again is all about, it changes your life. Jesus came to give us another life – not our old life made over, but a brand new creation. That’s why Colossians tells us “He is the head of a new creation.” He is the head a brand new species of beings.
In the last issue of “The Reality of Righteousness” we wrote about the love of God that has been shed abroad in our hearts. The same love that dwells in Jesus Christ has now been shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Spirit. Oh how wonderful it is when we begin to live from that unconditional love. Until the people of God realize the depths of the love of God, they will never see the glorious church in manifestation. The human mind cannot understand, and our natural religious mind will never accept the love that has been shed abroad in our hearts, because we cannot understand it with the human mind. Our natural mind will tell you that unconditional love is foolish.
Most of Christianity still has a wrong concept of God. They think of Him as being someone to be afraid of, someone who is waiting for us to “blow it” so that He can pour judgment out upon us. Many still have an Old Testament concept of God, and the concepts are vastly different. Some people even say that the God of the Old Testament and the God of the New Testament is not the same God. There is a Baptist teacher in California who teaches that the God of the Old Testament, and the God of the New Testament is not the same God.
But let me tell you something. God underwent a change in becoming a man. God never realized the human frailties and the weakness of a human until He became one. God changed His form, when He became a man. He became something that He never was before when He took on flesh. He literally dwelt in a man – all the fullness of the triune God dwelt bodily in a man, Jesus Christ. The God of the universe underwent a change when He took on humanity. He became that which He never was before. He understood human frailties. For three and half years all He did was good. He healed the sick, and He raised the dead, He cast out demons, He brought people deliverance, He brought them joy, He restored to them the life that is really life. Some of those same people He came to save put Him upon a cross and crucified Him and killed Him. He could look from the cross, bleeding, and He could say, “Father, forgive them, for they don’t know what they are doing.” You see, when He became a man, He understood the human frailties and the weaknesses, because He suffered them all.
Upon the cross it says He took our sin, He took our sicknesses, He took our diseases, He took our failures, He took our hang-ups, He took our habits, He took them into death and He left them there. Until Christians begin to understand this, we need to have men and women across the land who can rise up with a strong voice, in the power of the resurrected Lord and cry, “It is finished, we no longer have to feel inferior or condemned, for He has redeemed us and we are free, Christ in us is our righteousness, sanctification and redemption.” Christianity is not about behaving right or following outward rules or regulations with all the do’s and don’ts.
We literally have within our bodies, the God of the universe. Where we walk there is Christ, when we speak, Christ speaks within us. He is saying to His church today, “Oh won’t you be my arm extended?” How many times have you heard that? But do you really realize it? Do you realize that when you walk up to someone and you touch them, that God Himself is released through your very touch, and it can change lives. It can bring people deliverance. It can bring people healing to their bodies, because you walk as one who is filled with the Spirit of the living God.
That is the gospel message, but it is His righteousness that you cannot earn. There is not enough money to buy what God gives to you. There is not enough human effort. You can’t pray long enough. You can’t read the Bible enough. You can’t do anything enough to get what God gives to you by His Spirit, and through His Word. The Apostle Paul says, “With the heart man believes unto righteousness.” Rom. 10:10 We read these verses and still think we have to work for it. We think because we failed to pray yesterday, or perhaps last week we didn’t even open our Bibles that we are not righteous. It does not depend upon what you can do, but righteousness comes through believing Him who says, “I went to the cross, and I became what you were so that you could become what I am.” Righteousness comes to us as a gift. If I hand you a gift, you simply receive it. Once you decide to really believe that God has made you righteous and begin to confess it you will then begin to reap the fruit of righteousness, which is holiness. When I say holiness I do not mean that you behave in a certain way by trying to change. You change by the reality of Christ living His life in you.
Our concept of salvation has been too low. Religion taught most of us that we can be saved to someday go to heaven, but we must just hang on and do the best we can until then. However to know the reality of salvation is to know the life of God Himself being lived in this body. We’ve had such a low concept of our Father God taught to us through religious tradition.
John 14:23 says, “If a man love me, he will keep my word. And my Father will love him. And we will come to him, and we will make our abode with him.” Jesus said, “In my Father’s house are many abiding places.” John 14:2 We are nothing less than an abiding place. Our bodies are simply the abode of the Holy Spirit. There is nothing in this universe that is allowed to dwell within my body but the Spirit of the living God. Sin and death are trespassers. Sin and death were destroyed at the cross. Jesus took every negative thing in the universe into the grave and he left it there. Nothing deserves to live in my body but the Spirit of the Lord Jesus Christ. I deserve to have the anointing of God, not because I work for it, but because He paid the price that I might have the life that is really life. The Word of God tells us,
Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? 1 Cor. 3:16
What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? 1 Cor. 6:19
In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit. Eph. 2:22
I say again and again that it is time for the church to wake up. We have to drop the mental concept that we have of God. We have to stop the mental agreement that just says, “Yes I believe it.” We have to have the revelation, God by His Spirit must reveal the word to us. Oh, how we need Saints of God that will rise up and speak to the dry bones and cause them to live. That same love that went to the cross and said, “Father forgive them,” abides within us. Do not criticize your brothers and sisters, speak life over them. Be renewed in the spirit of your mind, that mind of Christ that is within you. Do not listen to things that are contrary to the Word of God. Don’t listen to the lies that try to penetrate your mind; but listen to the Word of God, “Know ye not that your body is the dwelling place of the Holy Spirit of God?” The same Word that says, “The fullness of the God-head dwelt bodily in Jesus Christ” says also “You are complete in Him who is the head of all principalities and powers.” You don’t have to add anything to your life. Nothing. You need nothing but to receive the goodness of God. Receive the Word that says “You are righteous because I have made you so.” Yes, “In my Father’s house are many abiding places.” When Jesus Christ was resurrected from the dead you were resurrected with him and seated with Him in heavenly places. He became a life-giving Spirit; and He breathed life into His people. You are born a new creation at birth not a miserable sinner. Jesus Christ was the LAST ADAM. He put an end to the old man at the cross.
Just accept the simplicity of the Word of God. If you can receive the Word of God as it is, it will quicken you. It will give you life and it will bring you out of bondage. It will deliver you from darkness and every negative thing. It will make disease bow its knee before you. Nothing shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life because you are based not upon your conduct. Or upon what you can do, but you are based and solidly upon the Word of God that says who you are and what He has made you to be. “In my Father’s house are many abiding places.”
Jesus also says, “Father that the world may know that You sent me, and that You love them as You have loved me.” John 17:23 We feel when we make mistakes that we are unworthy and cannot approach God, but Jesus said, “Father, the same love that you have for me you have for them.” God loves you with an everlasting love. The same love He has for Jesus He has for you. If Christians only realized the love of God they would be so happy. Nothing can ever separate you from the love of God. We feel separated because of our darkened mind. The only problem is in the mind. We must have the renewing of the mind to be able to comprehend the unlimited love of God.
Many of God’s people cannot believe that He is good enough to receive them in the condition they are in. They cannot believe the good news that Jesus took away the sin of the world. Some of God’s people are so hung up in pornography, and in all the lusts of the flesh, they cannot believe that the love of God is big enough and broad enough, and that the blood of Jesus runs deep enough to cleanse them from all impurities. I say to you that the blood of Jesus is adequate. The blood represents His life, because the life is in the blood. Lev. 17:11 We are now saved by His life Rom 5:10 “For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.”
If you are hung up in pornography or any other thing, the only thing that will deliver you is for you to have a revelation of the magnitude of Calvary’s victory. Jesus lived a life that is available to every one of us. He lived above the law of sin and death and made a way for us to do the same through His life coming alive on the inside of us. “The LAST MAN Adam was made a life giving spirit.” This is the “Good News” of the gospel. Jesus became a life giving spirit so that you can live by the same life He lived by. This is the “New Creation Man” that came forth in resurrection power when Jesus resurrected from the dead. In fact the Apostle Paul tells us that we were resurrected when Jesus was resurrected. Ephesians 2:5-6 “Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us (made us alive) together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:”
You see we were raised together with Christ. When did that happen? We were crucified with Him, buried with Him, and raised with him at Calvary. Hallelujah! No more sin and death, only life. The LAST ADAM died on the cross and sin and death came to an end. (I will be writing more on this in my next book “The Incorruptible Seed.”)
Oh God, how we need a revelation of this by the spirit. Some keep praying, fasting and doing all manner of works to get rid of the problems in their life. All they need is to begin to walk in the reality of the new creation man and that will solve the problem. For the Word of God says that if Jesus is in you, you have been delivered from the power of darkness. One day you will realize because of Calvary the blood of the Lamb has cleansed you completely, and you stand clean and spotless before Him. Nothing can defeat you any longer because you are not trying to make the old life new. You are not working for God, but He is filling your life with Himself.
He is the overcomer in me. He is Lord over my body. However it does not come through effort. It only comes through believing that Jesus Christ is able to save to the uttermost, those who come unto God through Him. It is time for the church to realize that we stand in the very righteousness of God our Father. Romans 8:15 says, “You have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear. But you have received the adoption of Jesus Christ where by we cry Abba Father.”
When we are missing the mark, He isn’t up there on the throne somewhere out in space with a club. If you are in darkness and bondage, Jesus is not condemning you, He came into the world not to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might believe, that the world through Him might be set free, that the world through Him might come to know the life that is really life, that the world may receive the ability and the life and the nature of God that will bring them out of bondage and sickness and death and everything that is not godly. He is our Father God! I am a father; and if one of my children gets into trouble my heart goes out to help them, not to condemn them. How much more is our Father God willing to receive His children that are in bondage? We know the Word tells us because of what Jesus has done, we are a brand new creation. We are a new species of beings. Your spirit and the Holy Spirit is one spirit. The Spirit of the living God within you can become so predominant that it permeates your mind, it permeates your tongue, it permeates your thoughts. Because of Calvary we are NOW sons of God on this earth. We are God’s Christ on this earth. We are His body, His hands and feet. We are His voice to a lost and dying world. We are what all of creation is waiting for. To manifest Christ on this earth is the heart of our Father. There is no hope outside of Christ. Only in Christ have we hope.
II Corinthians 5:14-17 “For the love of Christ constrains us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead: and that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again. Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more.” We have to stop looking at one another according to the flesh. This is the love of God that is shed abroad in our hearts that I can look at you and I can see your weaknesses. I can see where you miss it. I can see where you are in rebellion. I can see if there is pride in your life. But I don’t look at you according to the flesh, but I look at you according to the Spirit, the finished work of Calvary. I realize that Christ has made you a new creation. You may not realize it but I can help you by sharing the “Good News” that you are a new creation and you can experience the resurrected life of God within. I realize that the treasure is in the earthen vessel; and there is no vessel that is too earthy to contain the treasure of the living God. So we must minister to one another by the spirit. We must learn to feed and nourish and take care of one another by the spirit and not according to the flesh. We never help a fellow brother and sister by going to them and revealing to them their faults and their weaknesses and their hang-ups. But we go to them in the spirit, and we fellowship with them about the riches of resurrection. We fellowship with them about the deliverance that is in Christ Jesus. We share with them so that it causes them to begin to seek God more deeply, so they too will come to understand what it is to walk a life in the Spirit of God. Don’t correct one another outwardly. “You who are strong (the scriptures say) bear the burdens of the weak.” Learn to bear one another’s burdens. Learn to intercede for one another according to the Spirit of God.
“Therefore if any man – (if anyone) be in Christ, he is a new creation.” You have to believe that for yourself before you can believe it for anyone else. You can’t minister this to another person until you yourself begin to understand that you have become a new creation in Christ Jesus. No longer are you just a mere human; but now God has filled you with His life, His power, His authority, and His ability. You will then begin to walk the life that is really life. You must begin to understand the deliverance that is in Christ Jesus, and as you do you will begin to walk in freedom and in the liberty of a child of God, and then you can minister to another. Oh glory to God!
If any man is in Christ, he is a new creation. We haven’t understood that we are a new species of beings. We are no longer mere humans, but we are god men as one minister calls the Christian – the “super-human” We are super-natural people. When you awake to righteousness, and the you begin to walk in the authority and in the power of the Spirit of God, nothing will be able to stand in our way that is anti-Christ or ungodly. Jesus told His disciples even before He went to His death and resurrection, even before that time He commissioned them and He said, “You go out and preach the gospel of the kingdom. You heal the sick and raise the dead. And now some of the main line churches say, “Oh those things are no more.” Those things were only to get the church started. There are no more healings. There are no more gifts. There are no more apostles and prophets.” These churches have been in a dormant state and unbelief, because they reject the men and women of God that He sends to them to stir them up. Almost every man and woman that God has sent to the church in the last two thousand years, the church that sat in darkness has rejected them, has laughed at them, has mocked them and made fun of them and told lies about them.
Now God has people all over the world who have eyes to see and ears to hear. Everywhere you go today there are people who are receiving new revelation – not outside the Word, but a deeper revelation of the truths that were bought for us at Calvary. Very few people have understood the realities of redemption or the magnitude of Calvary’s victory. We have all known some of it with our intellect. We have all known that Jesus came to give us a better life. I myself just a few years ago would almost daily ask God, “Where is the abundant life? Why am I so miserable? Why am I so defeated? Why am I so down-cast and so full of despair and hopelessness?” But thank God somebody began to speak to me the truths of the Word of God. The Word of God is not based on our experience. The Word of God is based on the faithfulness of God, and when I began to realize that, and I began to look away from my experience, and began to “Look away unto Jesus, the Author and the Finisher of my faith.” I began to rest in His finished work. I realized I cannot possibly finish what He has begun. Phil 1:6 “Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:
“If you are looking at your weaknesses, and you are looking at your hang-ups, and those things that are coming on the world, Jesus said, “Don’t do that. (He says) Men’s hearts will fail them for looking at things that are coming on the world.” Your heart will fail you if you are in bondage and sickness and weakness, and you look upon the things that are coming upon you. However if you will look away unto Him who is the author and the finisher of your faith, if you look away realizing that it does not depend upon your conduct, but it depends His faithfulness to complete that which He began in you. Can you believe that God is big enough? His blood is sufficient enough, His Word is all encompassing enough to include you as a new creation.? If you know that you know that you know, that you are born of God, if you’ve had the born-again experience, then as surely as you are a child of God you can begin to believe the promises of God that are in His Word. When I realized that I had the God of the universe living within me – not as a theological doctrine but as a reality, I’ll tell you that in a few short months I came out of such despair and despondency and hang-ups and began to walk in freedom as a liberated child of God.
Very few people understand the gospel in this country, very few. They do not understand, and if they do it is only a mental assent to the Word. “Yes Jesus is living in me.” Listen. If Jesus is living in you, you cannot live a life of darkness and defeat and failure. It is impossible for you. And when you realize that, you will be set free. When you are willing to believe by faith, just hang every thing you have on what God says. He says, “If any man comes to me, I will in no wise cast him out.” If any man is in Christ, he is a brand new creation. Then you must begin to stand up and you must begin to fight the good fight of faith as Paul tells Timothy. It is a good fight of faith. My experience might not be so good, but that does not nullify the Word of God.
Let us begin to speak like this “Father I thank you that I am a new creation in Christ Jesus. I praise you that you have delivered me from the power of darkness. No longer am I bound by a carnal reasoning mind. I thank you Lord that everything in my experience that is not according to godliness will be purged from my consciousness. Father I present my body to you as your habitation, your dwelling place. I am now holy and without blame before you because of Calvary. Sin and death no longer have dominion over me.”
Sin has no dominion over you, for you are not under the law of sin and death, but the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made you alive and set you free from the law of sin and death. You see, the gospel will at least make you be honest and that is all God requires.
One day I had to say, “God I have been a Christian for twelve years and I am a complete and utter failure. I believe that you are in me, but I’ve had very little experience of your delivering power. However I am going to begin by the grace of God and by the Spirit of God I am going to exercise everything in my being to believe your Word that says I am who You say I am. And God, if you say I am, then I am, and my experience has to be a lie. With the Word of God and the Spirit of God, I rise up as a warrior and I come against those things in my life.” If you will speak the Word, you’ll release the anointing, speak in the Name of Jesus (in His character) and the darkness has to set you free because all the negative things have been dealt with at the cross.
Sin is a trespasser. Sin is not legally in the body of a Christian. It is a trespasser, and rather than identify with the sin – oh and I know it is so easy to identify with the sin and say, “Oh I am such a failure. I miss it here. I have had this habit for too many years to quit.” I said it myself for so many years, “Jesus I know when you come I am going to have this habit in my life.” You must begin to stand against that kind of concept. You must know that you are free by the Word of God, and by the power of God, and that His Word will bring you deliverance from any habit and any hang-up, and deliverance from any kind of sickness or disease. That is the gospel of Jesus Christ. It is hard to get Christians in these days to believe the gospel. God never intended to just save you so that you could live a poor, miserable, “worm of the dust” life on this earth, and then someday die and go to heaven. That is not the gospel. The gospel is that you have been redeemed, that you have been delivered from the hand of the enemy, sin no longer can have any dominion over you when you begin to exercise your faith and belief in the Word of the living God. “For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him” 2 Cor. 5:21
You see it is His working. It is not yours. If we can only get Christians to understand, it is not by their works, it is not by their striving, it is not by their good deeds, and it is not by their failures; but He on the cross has made us righteous. We experience this simply by believing the Word of righteousness. Again I remind you of what the Apostle Paul says, “It is with the heart man believes unto righteousness.” Oh if you will only believe what God says. You are just as righteous as Jesus Christ Himself. When you understand righteousness, and you understand it is not according to conduct, it is not according to what you can do, you just receive it as a gift. Maybe you have been a Christian for years. I came to God and I said, “Father I have been such a failure. I thank You that now I understand that it is not by my strivings and works, but I understand Your Word tells me that I am righteous because you made me righteous. You took every sin and every hang-up, you took everything that I was upon the cross so that you could make me everything that You are.” I began to seek God to know Him in this way. “That I might know Him in the power of His resurrection, that I might know Him in the fellowship of His sufferings, that I might be made conformable unto His death.” Because when the self life is made conformable unto His death, and you are willing to lay down your struggling, you are willing to lay down all of that stuff and simply believe, and begin to meditate in the Word of God, begin to speak the Word of God, begin to live and move and have your being in the new creation man, then, my friend, your experience will line up with the Word of God and you will find there are no hang-ups in your life. There are no habits in your life. You will find out that those lusts that kept bothering you for so many years that as your body used to cry out for the lust of the flesh, it now cries out for the righteousness of God because the fruit of righteousness is holiness. God’s people haven’t understood that righteousness comes by believing and not by striving. Every time you get into the striving and the struggling trying to make yourself righteous, it is like slapping God in the face and saying, “I don’t believe you made me righteous, so I have to do something to do it.”
God has made you righteous. When you sin, all you have to do is realize you have been forgiven because of Calvary. If you have a habit in your life that you haven’t yet overcome, you do not have to be condemned with that thing, you don’t have to let the enemy beat you up, but you can begin to do warfare in the spirit, and you can begin to command that desire to leave your body, and you can stay in the Word, and speak as a new creation man, and realize that you have all the benefits of Jesus, simply because you believe what He said. That is how Abraham received righteousness. Remember God said, “Abraham you just believed what I told you. So because you believe me, you are righteous. I make you righteous.” We have an unlimited righteousness. We stand before God as though we have never sinned. If you understand the righteousness of God, you know that when God looks upon you, He does not look at your sin, He looks upon the deposit that He has made on the inside of you, and He sees the abiding presence of His Spirit dwelling there, and He ministers to the spirit on the inside of you; so that you will begin to stir up that gift that is within you, and that you will begin to seek Him, and cry out to Him, and that you will begin come to know and understand that which He has already given to you – an unveiling of the mind, that you might know that you already have that which God says you have.
Sin will stop being a problem for you when you realize who Christ is in you. When you meditate in the Word long enough, and you begin to understand, really understand, who Christ is in you, sin will never again be a problem for you. How could sin be a problem for Jesus? “Jesus Christ is in you (Paul says) except ye be reprobates. Jesus Christ (he said) in you is the hope of glory.” That is not a theological doctrine that is a reality.
Jesus is alive in me. Oh no, I don’t realize it to the extent that I will tomorrow, but I realize it much more than I did yesterday and the day before, and last year and the year before. Because we are growing up into Him as Ephesians says, together, corporately, we are growing up into Him who is the Head of all things. We are growing up as one new man on the face of the earth. There is coming a day very shortly when all across this earth, there will be two classes of Christians. There will be those who are still hung up in the old dead theological places. They are afraid to stand up and declare what God has made them to be. On the other side, you will have a people across the face of the whole earth that are standing up and saying, “Darkness that is enough, you have to stop. In the Name of Jesus we are bringing the Kingdom of God to the earth.” Don’t be afraid of Kingdom doctrine. Rev 12:10 “And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now (not in the future but NOW) is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is (not will be) cast down, which accused them before our God day and night”.
If the Kingdom for you is not now then when will it be? The Kingdom is simply the rule and the reign of God. If He is ruling in you and He is reigning in you, then you are experiencing right now in this very present moment the Kingdom of the living God, and its fullness will come for you. So many put off the Kingdom entirely thinking that they are just humans and we fail here and we fail there, and we can’t really know the reality of God, but someday when He comes we will be saved and go to heaven” That is a lie and it is a deceiving spirit. Because if He came today you would be no different then than you are right now in your soul life. If He would walk in here right now, you would be before Him the same as you are now. Seeing Jesus in the physical does not change you. It wouldn’t change you one iota. You must see by the spirit. “When you see Him as He is THEN you will be like Him.” To see Him as He is, is to see Him as the resurrected Lord within you. To know Him as He is, is to know that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh within YOU. You are NOW bone of His bone and flesh of His flesh.
That is why the Apostle John warns us; when he said, “My friends, abide in Him so that when He appears you may have confidence before Him and not be ashamed before Him at His coming.”
Christians have the concept that when Jesus comes everything is going to be OK, but if you were to see Him today you may fall on your face in shame because you will realize that you had all the resources that God could give to you made available to you. All you had to do was believe God and begin to exercise, to fellowship with Him, to permeate your mind with His Word. That is why Paul tells us to, “Present our bodies and renew our minds.” Present your bodies to God and renew your minds with the Spirit of God. You will only do that through meditation and spending time with Him. Your mind will only be renewed, as you understand what has been placed within you at the new birth. You begin to walk then, as a redeemed man and woman of God set totally free and enjoying the righteousness of our Father God.
I want you to think about this and don’t forget it. I believe the Holy Spirit will remind you when you do it: Every time you experience struggling so hard to overcome, and you have habits and weaknesses and problems and maybe disease or sickness, whatever it is, every time you begin to speak about those inadequacies, you repudiate the Word of God. Every time you speak about the old creation as though it still rules over you STOP IT! That is why Paul tells us, “Lie not against the truth”, the truth is you are a new creation.” The truth is you are who Jesus has made you to be. Your experience cannot nullify the truth. Don’t water down the word of God and try to bring it down to the level of your experience by any kind of excuses saying you are just human. Every time you talk about your weaknesses, you repudiate the Word of God. The Word of God says, “I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.” He energizes me. He enlivens me by the power of His Holy Spirit, and gives me the ability to do all things in Him. Don’t forget that.
Every time you talk about your weaknesses, your sicknesses, your habits, and your hang-ups, it only solidifies that experience in your life. The only thing that will set you free is to begin to believe that God means what He says. “You have been delivered from the hand of the enemy. You have been redeemed from the law of sin and death. You have been set free by My Spirit and made a new creation.” You just exercise belief in that. If you really believe that God has healed you by His stripes, if you really believe that you have been delivered from the bondage of the enemy, you cannot speak fear, defeat and failure. You will have to stop speaking that, and you’ll start speaking what God says about you is true and that will cause the old carnal way of thinking to fall totally into the ground and die. Self cannot live unless you give it expression. What will live in you is what you give expression to; and you must learn to give expression to what God says about you. Don’t be afraid to walk up to somebody and say, “You know what? I am the righteousness of God. Would you like to meet Jesus? Do you know that all the fullness of the Godhead dwelt in this man, Jesus, and do you realize that He lives in me? Would you like to shake hands with Jesus?” He must become that real within us.
This is not a “self-ego” trip. It is true humility to realize, as weak as I am that He can live in me, that He can touch through me, that He can minister through me and heal through me. Your pride won’t let that happen. Your pride will say, that you are not good enough.” Or that you are just trying to exalt yourself.” A false humility will rob you from allowing God to minister and work through you. It is not pride, and it is not boastful to say about your self what God says. Do you realize that God says that Jesus lives in me? Well then if He lives in me, what is wrong with me saying, “Shake hands with Him. Touch Him.”
Oh Father, fill us up with the reality of Your life. Father I thank You that your Word is a word of righteousness. I thank You that Your Word is not a word of condemnation, but Your Word is a word of righteousness that a man may simply believe, with his heart, believe unto righteousness and confess with his mouth. Father I thank You that You have made us the righteousness of Jesus Christ. I thank You Father that we as a people, as a corporate body, can stand in Your presence without any sense of sin or fear or inadequacies or inferiority. You have made us equal. You have made us co-heirs with Jesus Christ. Let this mind be in us, which was also in Christ Jesus, who thought it not robbery to be equal with God. Father, I pray that You permeate our minds with the Spirit of God, Lord, that You cause your people everywhere and in every place to realize that You fill them, and that You love them, and that You want to see the life of Your Son manifested within Your church which will produce that glorious church without spot or wrinkle, which will become a glorious beautiful manifestation of God upon the earth; and then Jesus can receive His bride unto Himself. Oh Father, let it be so. Let it be so. Let it come quickly. Amen!
