SLAVE to SIN

Rom. 6:17 “Now. . . you were slaves to Sin. . .”
A slave to Sin is just as much someone who fights his/her sin as someone who indulges it. The issue is Sin. Do you fret about your sin? Then you’re a slave to Sin. Are you worried that your sin is removing you from God’s favor? Then you’re a slave to Sin. Are you trying to remove sin from your life? Then you’re a slave to Sin. It doesn’t matter if you’re sinning like crazy or trying like crazy to not sin. The issue is Sin, and in both cases, apart from God’s revelation, you’re a slave of it.
The only effective remedy for flesh is to ignore it and to focus on God. By not focusing on self, self will begin conforming to Christ.
2 Cor. 4:16: “Wherefore we are not despondent, but even if our outward man is decaying, nevertheless, that within us is being renewed day by day.”
Gal. 2:20: “I have been crucified with Christ: it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh, I live by the faith of the Son of God Who loved me and gave Himself for me.”
2 Cor. 5:7: “For we walk by faith (see above: the faith OF God within us – His faith; not us drumming up faith), not by sight (placing emphasis on our moods, feelings, opinions, attitudes).”
It’s not about how we feel about ourselves or about “looking good for God.” It’s about what He has already accomplished in His death, burial, resurrection – that’s who we are: free from Sin and alive in Christ. This is THE REST.
