HISTORY

Rev. 17:3-5 3] So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness: and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns. 4]  And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet color, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication: 5] And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH. (KJV)

Rev.    21:1-3 1] And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. 2] And I John saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. 3] And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. (KJV)

This study will be centered upon two cities, with two histories that are intricately connected to each other. Never in the history of the world have two cities of two peoples been so woven together in a story of war and dominion, slavery and desolation, blessings and cursings. The Bible gives us a historical account of the two cities from ancient days of Genesis to the New Testament days of Jesus and the early church.

This study will be used to gain a familiarity of the natural history of these two dominions and also a revelation of their spiritual typology used throughout the scriptures.  They are so closely related, it would not be prudent to study one without studying the other.  They are so perfectly opposite to each other, they have a mirror-image relationship.  Fire and ice, coal and diamond, night and day, all so extreme to each other, yet they offer an insight to the other one through their antithesis affiliation.  If you know about fire and you want to know about ice, just look to the farthest opposite spectrum and you will find it.  The same is true with Babylon and Jerusalem.

They are like twin sisters, one evil, the other good, one puffed up with arrogant pride in her beauty and popularity, the other one being tested and tried in her history of failed affairs and self-abuse.  The one sister is domineering and will do anything to gain the favor of her suitors.  She knows no loyalties and has no morals in her relationships, just the lust for control and power over her lovers.  The other sister is bound to one suitor, a Prince of Peace, who has promised her He will return and make her His bride.  She has at times grown weary with her waiting, and has tried to take on other suitors, only to be left alone and forsaken.  She has, at times, been her own worst enemy.  In her younger years she was spoiled, and behaved like a brattish child, treating her promised One with disdain and running off with other gods at the drop of a bible, only to come back, ravaged and tom, looking for the forgiveness of her Love.  But that was before the marriage and the change of her name from desolate and forsaken, to Hephzibah (My delight is in her) and Beulah (married).

Babylon lives only for the now, with no thought of right from wrong, and the consequences of either one, being conscious only of the demand of her nature hungering for pleasure and drunkenness, giving herself over to divinations and potions that hypnotize all that come into her bedchambers.  Her power is intoxicating, her lust overwhelming.  Many have tried to teach her a lesson, purposing to tease with her affections in hopes of breaking her heart as she has broken the heart of so many.  All have been brought down to hell and to ruin.  Such is the way of the great whore.

God has created each city, just as He has created both night and day, sorrow and joy, death and life.  Each has a specific purpose in the plan of God.  They are hopelessly locked into their opposite roles, at various times changing positions of blessings and judgments.  Both are mentioned as the friend of God and the enemy of God.  His hand has been for and against each one at various times.  In the end, Babylon is revealed as a mystery of iniquity, used to press Israel to repentance, and Jerusalem is revealed as the city of God, upon whose throne the King of kings and the Lord of lords will reign throughout the eons.  In the end, destiny has its way.  The one is destined for a fall, the other is destined for redemption.

THE HISTORY

Both cities have an ancient history that is recorded in the bible, and also a modern history.  I would like for us to look at the natural chronicle of their existence so that we can have a better grasp of their beginnings, despite the limitations of our knowledge of them, and how each one went through a preparation for their eventual destiny in the plan and purpose of God.

As you study the histories of the two cities, you will find that both are filled with revolutions, divisions, good kings, evil kings, risings and fallings, victories and defeats, grandeur and ruins.  If you believe in the sovereignty of God as I do, then you will know that kingdoms and kings rise and fall according to the will of God.  It is He who sets up thrones and dominions and it is He that overthrows the same.  To do this, God uses men and women of great diversities of background.  God will use evil vessels to accomplish His plan just as readily as His righteous vessels.  Both are unknowingly at His beck and call.

Even in our own great U.S.A. there is a destiny involved in who gets the presidency.  I am not insinuating that it is useless and ungodly to vote!  I try to vote each term and exercise my given right to have a voice in any election.  I have my own likes and dislikes of each candidate and have a system of political correctness in my mind that I try to follow when choosing between which candidates to vote for.  I must say, that I find myself voting more for candidates belonging to one party than I do for another one, although I believe in putting the right man or woman in office that I think will do the best job of representing my values regardless of political orientation.

Having said all this, I am still convinced that it is a stacked deck!  With each candidate spending millions of dollars running campaigns that are fine tuned to get the best logical number of votes possible, wearing certain colors of clothing, changing hair styles at the whim of the drop or rise of the voter polls, dragging out their opponents dirty laundry, accusing their adversary and excusing themselves, hiring campaign managers and teams of experts to turn their campaigns into slick, well-oiled machines designed to make the difference in the final vote, I must still say without doubt of any sorts, the only one that will get that office in the White House is the one that God wants there!  Our Heavenly Father is not a democrat or a republican.  He is not even an American.  He is Lord God Almighty, a King who reigns over all the ends of the earth!  “For by Him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by Him and for Him.” Colossians 1:16

With this thought in mind, let us consider the history of Babylon first.  The Hebrew word for Babylon in the Strong’s Concordance is #894 Babel, which means “confusion”.  The root for Babel is Balal, which means “to overflow (spec. with oil); by implication, to mix; to fodder, as in cattle feed.” As you can see, the very name means a mixture of grains and an overflow or waste of oil.  This is very important for us, as this is a trademark of the Babylonian nature, a tendency to mix the word of God with man-made concepts and to feed the people a mixed bag of confusion.  The anointing becomes something that is not reverenced and is allowed to overflow upon the ground and become polluted with the earth.

The original name for Babylon is Babel.  It is first mentioned in the bible in the book of Genesis.

Gen 10:8-10 8] And Cush begat Nimrod: he began to be a mighty one in the earth. 9] He was a mighty hunter before the LORD: wherefore it is said, Even as Nimrod the mighty hunter before the LORD. 10] And the beginning of his kingdom was Babel and Erech, and Accad, and Calneh, in the land of Shinar. (KJV)

Cush is the son of Ham who is the son of Noah.  It is Ham that looked upon the nakedness of Noah and as a result, Noah cursed Canaan, the son of Ham, and the brother of Cush.  The curse destined Canaan to be a servant to the sons of Shem and Japheth.  Cush begat Nimrod, who is a mighty hunter-warrior-king.  Nimrod is an ambitious warrior and starts to build an empire by bringing a number of cities under his rule.  One of these cities is Babel, later to be called BabylonCush is the first king of Babylon that the bible tells us of.  In the next chapter we are told that the people of that region have become very enchanted with their strength and unity according to the carnal mind.  As is true in every instance involving pride of the flesh, they make an agreement amongst each other that they will build a great tower that will reach into heaven.  The account reads as follows:

Gen 2: 1-9 1] And the whole earth was of one language, and of one speech. 2] And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar; and they dwelt there. 3] And they said one to another, Go to, let us make brick, and burn them thoroughly.  And they had brick for stone, and slime had they for mortar. 4] And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth. 5] And the LORD came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of men builded. 6] And the LORD said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do. 7] Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another’s speech. 8] So the LORD scattered them abroad from thence upon the face of all the earth: and they left off to build the city. 9] Therefore is the name of it called Babel; because the LORD did there confound the language of all the earth: and from thence did the LORD scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth. (KJV)

Notice that they want to build a CITY and a tower.  The word CITY is an interesting and important term for our study.  It differentiates what type of place both the New Jerusalem and Babylon are.  The image of a city is a place that has foundations, and upon those foundations are walls which serve to protect the inhabitants.  Remember that the Hebrews were a people with a nomadic lifestyle, that is, they lived without walls or foundations under their feet.  They were cattlemen and sheepherders and tended their flocks and traveled according to the seasons.  They lived in tents with the starry sky over their heads.  The earth was their home and wherever they went they always had an eye for what was over the next hill.  Abraham led a nomadic life like all of his fathers before him.  He was visited by the Lord and had a great promise given to him.

Gen. 12:14 1] Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee: 2] And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: 3] And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed. 4] So Abram departed, as the LORD had spoken unto him; and Lot went with him: and Abram was seventy and five years old when he departed out of Haran. (KJV)

Abram’s whole life and vision changed that day.  He no longer roamed the earth with no purpose.  God had given him a promise of a homeland, but he had to leave his country, kindred, and father’s house.  Let us all leave our father’s house and strike out to enter into the life and reality of this mighty Day of light and glory!

Heb 11:8-10 8]  By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went. 9] By faith he sojoumed in the land of promise, as in a strange country, dwelling in tabernacles with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise: 10] For he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God. (KJV)

We must look for a city, dear hearts.  A city with foundations, a rich heritage in God, a place where our children and our children’s children can learn of the ways of the Lord without fear and confusion.  No more mixture, no more flesh, no more wanton money grabbing and fleecing, but righteous priests and honorable kings of the most high God that dispense the riches of His kingdom to all that are hungry and thirsty.  A city with walls upon which the watchmen of the Lord cry out, “The King is in Jerusalem and all is well!” In Babylon all is ruined and inwardly corrupt.  In Babylon the priests are there for profit and fame.  In Babylon it is business operated by cutthroats and crooks.  But I see another city, the mother of all that are born from above, whose children are free.  We are that city, as we will learn in the coming articles, and God sits on the throne of our heart.  Rein 0 mighty King in Righteousness and Peace!

PART TWO

Gen 12:1-8 1] Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee: 2] And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: 3] And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed., 4] So Abram departed, as the LORD had spoken unto him; and Lot went with him: and Abram was seventy and five years old when he departed out of Haran. 5] And Abram took Sarai his wife, and Lot his brother’s son, and all their substance that they had gathered, and the souls that they had gotten in Haran; and they went forth to go into the land of Canaan; and into the land of Canaan they came. 6] And Abram passed through the land unto the place, of Sichem, unto the plain of Moreh.  And the Canaanite was then in the land. 7] And the LORD appeared unto Abram, and said, Unto thy seed will I give this land: and there builded he an altar unto the LORD, who appeared unto him. 8] And he removed – from thence unto a mountain on the east of Bethel, and pitched his tent, having Bethel on the west, and Hai on the east: and there he builded an altar unto the LORD, and called upon the name of the LORD. (KJV)

In this study of the two cities, Mystery Babylon and New Jerusalem, we are going to be looking at their parallel destinies in God’s plan of the ages.  In the last issue we attempted to describe the mirror-image countenance they share in the bible and the prophetic utterances written therein.  We described how it is virtually impossible to separate them from each other in the plan of God since they are antithetical to each other.  As much as darkness is forever linked and connected to light, (indeed, darkness provides a contrast of background to light that “illuminates” it’s brilliance, such as stars appearing in the night sky) even so Babylon provides the New Jerusalem with a perfect contrast and can give us an even greater understanding of the brilliant glory that God has ordained for this great city.

In this issue we would like to address the question, “What is Babylonian and what is New Jerusalem?” in terms of our walk and practices.  This will be a very difficult and complex question and we may not have all the answers, but perhaps God will allow us to stir up your pure mind and give you a view into my own personal questions concerning this dilemma.

Over the years I have sat and heard many messages preached on the evil of Babylonian practices by Kingdom word ministries and much doomsday warnings have been written on paper, enough, so that one may get the idea that Babylon is in everything.  We pray that we can grasp what God wants us to be made aware of as being of Babylon versus what is Kingdom.  The fact of the matter is, the two are at times hard to distinguish from one another.  They are very much intertwined into our past theologies and even in our present ways of doing things.

In the above scripture we find Abram, a man who is a Babylonian and who has a genealogy of Babylon in his family, being told by Jehovah that if he will get out of his country, Babylon, and leave his kindred and his father’s house, that Jehovah will lead him into a land where He will make of Abram a great nation.  Abram originally came from Ur, a city in the lower southern region of what we know to be Babylon.  He then moved to Haran in the northern region, and after hearing the promise of Jehovah he ultimately journeys into the land of Canaan, the land of promise.  Take note that Abram is of the culture and religious practices of Babylon when Jehovah reveals Himself to him.  This is why Abram is the Father of faith.  He enters into covenant with this strange God and believes Him to be the true God.  Abram is the first man termed a “Hebrew,” which in the original language means “one who crosses the river”, in this case the Euphrates River which Abram crossed in leaving his Babylonian heritage.  We all today must “cross the river,” the border line that divides us from our Babylonian past and gives us access to the land of God’s covenant’s of promise.  We must be “Hebrew” in our walk, willing to leave all that we have known and experienced up to this point and cross over the border headed to heaven on high.

Let me remind you that our roots are in Babylon.  We all were made in weakness, corruptible in nature, fashioned with a sin consciousness, pagan in our worship.  A true Hebrew is one that is brought out of the house of flesh and rebirthed into the house of Christ, who is our true Hebrew, having crossed from death to life.  We are on the journey into the promises of God and we have received a commandment from our Father to come out of her and to be not a partaker of her sins.  If we do, then like Abram we will get a more excellent name.  His Babylonian name of Abram means High or exalted Father.  His Hebrew name of Abraham means Father of A Multitude!  Notice that God didn’t give him an entirely different name as He did for Jacob, but He took that which was Babylonian and added His blessings to it.  Abram was a title of Father but as you know, Abram was childless.  We don’t want empty titles!  If we have titles may God give us His blessings and bring to us the substance that the titles represent.  I want Isaac!  Sarah may laugh and Abram may fall on his face giggling at the thought of an old man and woman having a son, but God will perform His word if we leave our former country and come into the land of promise.

Now, we can do any number of things to keep us out of the seducing power of this great whore, Mystery Babylon.  One of the things we can do is to throw everything out that has the slightest chance of being from that spirit of Babylon, as many have done in the past history of this word of the Kingdom.  This includes: throwing the bible away; stop having services in a church building and have them in homes, so as to remove the physical image of a Babylonian architecture, i.e., Steeples, pews, pulpit, altar, stained glass windows, etc. operate as a group of believers but without the titles of Babylon such as Pastor, Bishop, Elder, etc. with each member of the group equal in authority and responsibility; conduct all meetings without the presence of Babylonian traditions, such as offerings, prophecy, prayer, speaking in tongues, or preaching in some cases, with some even outlawing singing and praising in the spirit; seat the people in a circle or some other geometric design other than the Babylonian square with rows of people facing the front, so as to allow each member not to feel subject to the speaker or lower in stature, but able to look each other in the eye rather than the back of the head; create an unstructured, open atmosphere where anyone can speak on any subject at any time for any reason for as long as they want.

I am sure there are some of our readers that think some of these items are put in jest, but I assure you that I know groups that have been so fearful of operating in Babylonian traditions that they have done all that I have listed and more.  Some have taken the final step and ceased to meet at all, preferring to serve God alone and at home, becoming an island to themselves, secure in the knowledge that they are free of Babylonian influence.  My heart goes out to our brothers and sisters that have taken this path of elimination, out of fear of being in a death grip of man-made religion.  I can sympathize with them, since I believe we all must face our fears concerning this reality.

To be quite honest, we all know that the King James Version Bible is filled with Babylonian phrases of a God that is dual in nature and carries on a love-hate relationship with His creation.  After all, it wasn’t even written until the year 1611 a.d. and we know that King James was undoubtedly influential in its translation and who knows what amount of error is contained in each word translated from the Hebrew and the Greek into the King’s English.  If this isn’t enough to have to bear, we find ourselves still prophesying in “thees” and “thous” and “shalts” and “wilts”, knowing that God isn’t limited to the Old English speech.  Sound familiar?  We have all done it in the past, and some still do it even today.  The point I would like to make is, I still feel a flow of life regardless of the form of wording, or the traditional raising of the voice in volume, even when in a small room in an intimate circle of believers that could hear you whisper let alone shout at them at the top of your lungs.  The form and practice of delivering the word of God may be Babylonian in origin, but not necessarily Babylonian in the nature of the word.  We all have some aspect of Babylon in us.  In other words, we have left Babylon but has Babylon left us?

It can get even closer to home.  There are some ministries that I would characterize as preaching a word of the Kingdom with an old Pentecostal methodology.  Their word is on target but the methods they employ to preach it are, in my opinion, are Babylonian.  What to do?  Quit fellowshipping them?  Write them off as old order?  I think this would be incredibly arrogant on my part and yours.  The fact of the matter is that I love the ministry and desire to see us all flow in the river of God together.  So I will choose to hold them up before the Lord until the word that comes from their mouth corrects their tactics.

Lest anyone should think that I don’t recognize my own Babylonian ways, let me relate to you a present correction I am concentrating on, which is just one of a multitude of others.  When I was in the beginning of my ministry, just starting to learn to yield to the spirit of God to speak through me, I picked up some bad habits.  I was saved in a “holy-roller” Pentecostal church in Ecorse, Michigan on September 5, 1965.  The pastor of the church was a sweet old preacher lady, Sister Magee.  The congregation consisted of five elderly women and a young girl my own age, which was 15 at the time.  Sister Magee had been faithful to this small feminine congregation for many years.  None of the women could get their husbands or sons into the church, so they sort of got the impression that God had quit saving the male gender and was only able to touch the heart of five elderly woman and one semi-saved young girl.  You can imagine their shock and joy when I arrived.  Never mind that I was an ignorant young boy that I had more problems than an individual has a right to have, or that I was the child of an atheistic mother and an alcoholic, Catholic father, all they cared about was that I was of the male species, and bless God maybe there was hope for their pitiful, no good husbands after all!

What followed over the years was as good a testimony of the keeping power of the spirit of God as you will ever hear.  How God was able to do all that He wanted to do in my life to bring me to this present day – out of my beginnings is a true wonder.  Each night, before the service was over, the dear sisters would place me in the center of the church aisle and they would lay hands upon me, as if I was some holy point of contact to the soul of their dastardly husbands, and I would stand in proxy for their husband’s salvation.  I felt an awesome sense of responsibility for the sinfulness of these men, as though I was some sort of quirk of God’s grace, and I somehow ended up saved when these other men continued in their destiny toward hell.  The trick of it all was that these dear faithful sisters wouldn’t let go of praying for me until I gave some sort of a sign that God had indeed heard their cry, and they had made a firm contact with the black heart of their men folk.  At first, I had absolutely no trouble giving them this assurance, since I was new born and very much ready for whatever God had for me, and plus the guilt I felt over my good fortune and the bad fortune of the men.  The standard sign of release in this particular church was a typical Pentecostal explosion, complete with gyrations of the arms and legs and jumping up and down very vigorously, which invariably ended up in the kicking over of a few chairs because of the close proximity of the small church.  So, each night at the end of the service I would get prayed for and sure enough, the chairs would go flying and the women would hurry home to see if their husbands had thrown up all the beer and whiskey they drank that night.

Each night, I faithfully stood in the gap for my fellow men, dutifully kicking chairs and flailing under the power so new to me.  But then something frightening happened.  I started losing my freshness and exuberance as I matured under the hand of the Lord and it was getting harder and harder for me to break through into this type of release.  I had found the Lord in my own private time of worship to be more than just a jump and a holler, but He was also able to touch me in quiet ways.  So, the nightly prayers got to the point where the dear sisters thought they were discerning a quenching of the standard sign of release, (i.e. overturned chairs, gyrations, etc.) so they commenced to giving me some extra-curricular activity along with their prayers, such as grabbing my head in a death grip and shaking it like one of their tambourines on a real fast song, or putting their hands on my back and patting me until, supposing my spirit to be bound up by the devil, they would be near knocking the breath out of me trying to give their prayers more power and authority by the beating of my back.  Whew!  It was like playing football at church!  They eventually gave up on me after about 6 months and released me out of my calling of being the last great hope for their stubborn, vile husbands.  I think about those poor men even today.  By the way, I must confess that during those 6 months there were many nights, while in the death grip of prayer, that I may have experienced an involuntary knee jerk reaction and kicked over a few chairs on my own so I could get home and do my homework, but God seemed to look the other way, as I am sure He sympathized with my plight.

I stayed at this little garage-sized church for 3 years until God finally delivered me.  Our services were seven nights a week, two on Sunday.  The only time I ever saw another male species walk through the door of the church was when we would have a guest preacher.  Most of them took their teeth out before they preached and screamed and hollered until they got into a rhythm of grunting and breathing between each word, sort of like, ” And, uh, I, uh, want, uh, to tell you, uh, that, uh, hell, uh, is, uh, the sinners, uh, reward, uh.” It is really amazing how adept one can get on picking out the words in that type of delivery after a while, much like trying to decipher the talk back and forth between the truckers on the CB radio.  After a while, you get used to it and it doesn’t seem odd.  Amazingly, there were things accomplished in my life, such as speaking with tongues, prophecy, and healings that remain a vital part of my life even today.  I learned to look past the obvious fleshly antics and hear the sound within the sound coming from the Father.  This has been a great key for me through the years.  Don’t let the antics of flesh, which is just the bottle that contains the wine, keep you from tasting of the goodness of the Lord, because there comes a day when the new wine gets a new container!

I still have some of the old Babylonian ways in me from my beginnings.  When I preach I say the word “hallelujah” much too often as a fill-in word waiting for the spirit to give me the next word – as I preach, for the most part, extemporaneously.  This was brought to my attention years ago when I was preaching on the radio and we only had a 15 minute broadcast.  Time was precious, so from the sign-on to the sign-off I would go like a house on fire trying to say as much as I could about God before my time was up.  One day, a man came up to me that had been listening to our broadcast and said, “You know brother Bobby, if you wouldn’t say ‘hallelujah’ every other word you could get a lot more preaching done!”.  I still catch myself doing that, and I recognize it as a Babylonian trait, and am working at it and getting better, at least I hope so.

There are other things that I have trouble labeling pure Babylonian.  For instance, the way that we minister and hold services.  We know that there is coming a more excellent way of doing them, but I would hesitate in calling them strictly Babylonian.  Some methods and traits of our services and ministry have been structured by God as a transition process that gets you from one area to another.  We will be seeing this in the further studies on “The Two Cities”.  The period between the passing away of the old and the rising of the new can be a very trying time for us.  We are all anxious to see the fullness of God demonstrated through a people with no taint and without religious trappings.  We groan at the show-time atmosphere of the American Church system and we all wonder how God could do anything with these vipers that disguise themselves as bearers of the truth and caring shepherds of the sheep, when we readily see that they misrepresent God’s nature and plan for His creation.

We all want to be free from the system of religion, but we need to know where man ends and God begins.  In other words, if we are to go under the surgical knife of God, as He cuts away from us the cancer of Babylon, we must know when to stop cutting.  Otherwise we cut some of the vital parts off along with the diseased parts.  As it is, we have all gone through surgeries of the spirit where some things were removed from our body by God, only to be reinstated at another time.  When a natural surgeon operates upon a cancerous section of our body, he must decide how much is to be removed.  There is a decision made that creates a “margin of safety,” which is the amount of good body part that must be sacrificed with the known diseased part.

I had a personal experience with this a number of years ago.  Paul Demoret, a wonderful minister of this word and a very close friend of ours asked me to take him to the hospital in Nashville to get a small skin cancer taken off the top of his head.  Now, I hope I can say this delicately, but Paul’s head is a little thin of hair on top, God having finished counting the hair of his head some years ago and then He started counting backwards!  Paul is a very particular man concerning his appearance, always dresses very nice and neat and he voiced to me his concern of how the top of his head would look after the surgery.  I assured him it was just a tiny spot and he wouldn’t even know it was cut upon.

When he came out of the hospital, after a number of hours, I was a little worried.  He was wearing a baseball cap the hospital gave him to wear and he seemed in good spirits so I put my worries aside and we started home.  I asked him how his head felt and he said it felt a little tight in his scalp, but it didn’t hurt.  He then asked me to look under the cap and let him know how his head looked.  When he took his cap off, I almost wrecked the car!  A huge horseshoe wound covered the top of his head, with swollen stitches and red puffy flesh around it.  It looked like they performed brain surgery!  I stifled a scream and Paul asked me again how it looked.  I didn’t have the guts to tell him he was going to be deformed for the rest of his life, so I told him it looked fine, maybe a little larger than I was expecting.  Hoo, Boy.  I advised him to wait until we got him home, and we would set him down in a chair and hold a mirror for him to see for himself.  I have to give my friend credit.  He didn’t faint or even cry one tear when he saw the wound with his own eyes.  The close of this story is a happy one.  Paul has a perfect looking head, with no sign of the wound, the body having reinstated the good flesh sacrificed with the bad.  We must know that surgery, whether in the natural or in the spirit, has a specific measurement of cutting, and to go beyond that is not in our best interest.  Even so, if we are patient, the wound is healed and those things removed are restored.

Patience! Oh, how that word irks me sometimes.  It means to wait for something.  Not give up on it, not throw it all out and do your own thing and declare “to hell with you”.  Out of all of the present religious games that are being played out on the stage of the fundamental religious system, there is a plan working.  We must believe God is able to do what He says He can do.  Who can hold Him back?  Who, I say, can tie His hands and make Him non-effective in the affairs of men? In men I see nothing but trouble, greed, self-exaltation, violence, hypocrisy, lying, deceiving, backstabbing, flesh.  Let me say this though, in the midst of it all, if you look with the eyes of the spirit, and if you listen very circumspectly with the ears of the spirit, you will see hope and hear victory.  Nothing can drown out the voice of God when He truly speaks.  I have heard Him speak through the lips of a jackass, and I have seen Him in the midst of the clowns of religion.  He is God!  He is not confounded by Babylon, so why are we?  We must stop letting Babylon dictate to us what we can believe for and what we cannot.  John looked through the eyes of the spirit and saw something both filthy and wonderful, a whore and a bride, a mother of harlots and a mother of the free.  What we must never forget is that he did not allow the sickening sight of Mystery Babylon to blind him from viewing the splendor of The New Jerusalem.  Patience!  If you have seen the shameful nakedness of Babylon parading herself in the midst of the people, then know that it is a guarantee that you will see the righteous, chaste bride of Christ make a triumphant entrance into our midst.  If you have seen the murderer and the thief parade in the midst of the congregation with their polluted ointment full of flies, then look up, for it is a guarantee that there is rising up a priesthood and kingship that will bring honor and honesty and holiness to the people of Zion.  Look Up!  Don’t let Babylon make you shut your eyes in disgust and then miss out on the greatest vision of beauty that you will ever see.  Look past the Beast and see the Beauty.

Rev. 21:1-3 1] And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. 2] And I John saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. 3] And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God! (KJV)

PART THREE

MONEY

Rev 17:1-7 1] And there came one of the seven angels which had the seven vials, and talked with me, saying unto me, Come hither; I will shew unto thee the judgment of the great whore that sitteth upon many waters: 2] With whom the kings of the earth have committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth have been made drunk with the wine of her fornication. 3] So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness: and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet colored beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns. 6] And I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus: and when I saw her, I wondered with great admiration. 7] And the angel said unto me, Wherefore didst thou marvel?  I will tell thee the mystery of the woman, and of the beast that carrieth her, which hath the seven heads and ten horns. (KJV)

This issue will be addressing the most disturbing and foundational characteristic of Mystery Babylon.  MONEY. It has many names.  Lettuce; dough; bread; moolah; bucks; greenbacks; chingachang; and many more.  It is described in the dictionary as: money noun plural:  moneys or monies

A commodity, such as gold, or an officially issued coin or paper note that is legally established as an exchangeable equivalent of all other commodities, such as goods and services, and is used as a measure of their comparative values on the market. The official currency, coins, and negotiable paper notes issued by a government. Assets and property considered in terms of monetary value; wealth.

Whatever you desire to call it, it spells trouble.  No other single thing has ruined more lives, shipwrecked more souls, created more enemies and/or friends, started more wars, drove more people insane, than MONEY.  It is something that we all have a need for, since we all have bills to be paid, groceries to buy, etc.. The trouble is, after our needs are met we continue to want more.  Very rare is the person that thinks they have enough MONEY.  Howard Hughes didn’t, Sam Walton didn’t, and neither does Bill Gates.  It creates a fever, an itch that can’t be satisfied.  The more you get, the more you want.  The more you want, the more you will do to get it.  The odd thing about money is that you can’t eat it, wear it, or put it to work, and yet it takes it to do all of the above.  It is a note of exchange for goods and services.  The more MONEY you have, the more goods and services you can have.

Revelation chapter 17 draws a picture of a woman that has certain outstanding characteristics.  One characteristic is her outlandish and inordinate amount of wealth.  She is rich beyond measure and is getting richer by the minute. One of the things that startled me as I read this particular chapter is how John the revelator is himself caught up in the spectacle of this great whore.  So much so that John is rebuked by the angel when he “wonders with great admiration” at the sight of this dazzling woman. (verse 6). The angel confronts John with the question, “Wherefore didst thou marvel?” (verse 7).  Obviously there is a concern on the angel’s part that John is holding the woman in admiration.  Indeed, it is a problem today.  How could a system that seems to do so much good for people be Babylonian?  We see the richness and slickness of the present Church System and we find ourselves enamored by it.  So beautiful, so grand, so rich.

It is amazing how the Scriptures hit things right on the head and continue to do so throughout the different times and ages.  Long ago the words were penned:

I Tim 6:5-11 5] supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself 6] But godliness with contentment is great gain. 7] For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. 8] And having food and raiment let us be therewith content. 9] But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. 10] For the love of money is the root of all evil:-which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. 11] But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness. (KJV)

The term, “The love of money”, means to let money become your dearest and closest friend.  The bible says this love is the root of all evil.  We can see this to be true in the modern church system.  It used to be that the Catholic Church was the prototype for Mystery Babylon as seen in Rev. 17.  Don’t look now, but the modern Fundamentalist church is the fastest growing religious group in the world.  Mega-Churches are being built in every major city.  The quicker they are built, the quicker they are filled up.  Schools, orphanages, missionary works, foreign missions, are all being touted by the Fundamentalists, along with Political Action Committees, Christian Law Schools, Day Care Centers, Food Banks, Thrift Stores, you name it, the Church is involved in it.  The sad thing is that for the most part, it is all big business, run to bring in the big bucks into the religious coffers.

I’ll never forget the first time that I preached in a big-time church in Downy, CA.  This was in the early 1970’s and I was preaching the Sons of God and Restitution message at a little store-front church.  It turned out that the people from the big church down the road started to hear the message and packed the little place out.  After about a week of this, the pastor of the big church paid me a call and asked me to come to his church since most of his people were attending my services anyway.  I prayed about it and the Lord told me to go.  I was scared to death!  T. L. Osborn was supposed to be following me the next week, and I hadn’t ever preached to so many people at one time in my life.  Like John, I was viewing all of this with great admiration.  All the musicians were very professional, the people all dressed sharp, the pews were padded, the carpet was luxurious, the pastor and his wife looked like movie stars.  I was in awe!

I proceeded to preach for a couple of nights and about the third night the pastor got me alone in his study.  He started out by telling me he knew I was preaching Sons of God and Reconciliation and that he believed in this message himself, but he couldn’t risk preaching it from the pulpit because he would lose his church.  He then told me that he would like to sponsor me to start preaching on the big-time circuit, but I had to get some gimmicks incorporated into my ministry.  He asked me if I couldn’t start some orphanage somewhere just so that I could present it to the people as something to give to, the understanding being that the MONEY would never reach the fake orphanage, but would be used for my own needs.  He said that he admired my ministry and that I had great potential on the “circuit” of big churches he was affiliated with, but I had to do a lot of work on my offering taking.  He said he would be willing to train me in the art of getting money out of the people, and before long I would be driving a big fancy car just like him and all the other big time evangelists.  Needless to say I shut my meeting down with him and told him he wouldn’t have to worry about losing his church because he had lost it already, along with any decency he might have had.

When I left that office I was so sick I had to struggle to keep from throwing up.  MONEY!  More preachers have sold their souls for it than for any other single thing.  The reason is simple.  MONEY in itself is not evil, such as an act of fornication, drunkenness, and other vices.  Everyone needs MONEY and therein is the subtleness of it’s seduction.  Don’t think I wasn’t impressed with the splendor of that church, because I was!  I actually thought God was going to allow my ministry to reach more people and that the message of life could be heard and believed upon by the masses.  Along with this, I got to thinking that maybe I deserved to live a better lifestyle, since my wife and I had struggled with our finances for so many years, and after all, the laborer was worthy of a greater hire.  My eyes were fixed on the wonder of the whore, and I was finding all kinds of justification for getting connected to the CIRCUIT!  As a young evangelist, it was the invitation to the big dance, an offering of the big enchilada, I would have arrived at the top of the world!

The big wake-up call was when I realized what I would have to do in order to get that greater hire.  Something happens to a person when confronted with riches.  A change comes over us when put in a position of possible wealth.  I know we all swear we would never change if we suddenly were made wealthy, but invariably we do. There is a root of evil in us all, and the bible declares it to be “the love of MONEY’!  The church today has sold out it’s heavenly inheritance for a little earthly lucre.  God has offered us a “far more exceeding weight of glory”, but our eyes are filled with the things being offered to us by a seducing spirit that has convinced many a prophet to become her paid servant.  Woe to the prophets that prophecy for MONEY, and do not speak the words that come from God.

The biggest money making machine in the modem Fundamental Church is the world-wide satellite TV networks.  They run 24 hours every day and reach millions of people with the message, “Tis more blessed to give than to receive”. I know they do good works and all of that.  I know that they reach souls for the Lord, but with what hidden motives?  They look like one big happy family on TV don’t they?  Smiling and joking and bragging on each other.  Call me a cynic if you want to, but I would dare say the conversation off camera isn’t quite so congenial.  I would venture to say that their time is spent on the following questions.  Who’s No. I? Who’s getting more air-time than the other one?  Who draws more money?  Who gets more mail?  Who’s on the hosts right hand this week and who is on the left and who gets dropped because of poor ratings?  Without question, these are the topics of discussion in the back rooms of the studios, and they involve positioning and posturing for the opportunity to make more MONEY.

Cutthroat competition is on the religious shows just as much as on the worldly shows.  That’s Entertainment!!  And it is MONEY that speaks the loudest.  When the bills come due, and we are talking millions of dollars here, then men and women do strange things to keep from losing the almighty dollar.  Beg, borrow, and steal are just a few of the things.  God help us all to guard against the stench of this Harlot system.  Yes, they preach the word, they sing beautiful songs, they pray for the sick and the sick recover, but notice that nothing is done without the mention of MONEY!  If we all knew how much money was brought in by the Christian Networks we would be amazed.  Bob Tilton, Jimmy Swaggart, Jim Baker and others have been foremost into the spotlight by their escapades in schemes to make more MONEY.  They have opened up a Pandora’s box in a system that produced mansions worth millions of dollars, bank accounts known and others never known, filled with thousands upon thousands of dollars, lifestyles worthy of the rich and famous.  All of this is on public record.  Why would we believe that anything is different with those that are in that same arena but haven’t been exposed?  I hate to say it but the present Church system has sold itself out to MONEY.

Micah 3:9-12 9] Hear this, I pray you, ye heads of the house of Jacob, and princes of the house of Israel, that abhor judgment, and pervert all equity. 10] They build up Zion with blood, and Jerusalem with iniquity. 11] The heads thereof judge for reward, and the priests thereof teach for hire, and the prophets thereof divine for money: yet will they lean upon the LORD, and say, Is not the LORD among us? none evil can come upon us. 12] Therefore shall Zion for your sake be plowed as a field, and Jerusalem shall become heaps, and the mountain of the house as the high places of the forest. (KJV)

Notice that the word of judgment is to the Heads, Princes, Priests, and Prophets.  It is the leadership that is making merchandise of the House Of God.  Babylon in Rev. 17 has made a league with the “merchants” and the “Kings” of the earth.  They all love Babylon because Babylon has made them rich.  She is the answer to their lust for MONEY.  The apostle Paul ran into this same love for money when the makers and sellers of idols in Ephesus caused a riot among the people because Paul’s preaching put fear in their hearts that their craft of making silver idols to the Goddess Diana would dry up.  Their concern was in the making of MONEY, not in truth or error.  You can be sure that the same concerns are in the leaders of the modem Fundamental Church.  When faced with truth that doesn’t profit them financially they will suddenly grow very fervent in their fight against heresy.  In truth, they are seeing a financial risk in preaching things that demand the people to do more than sit in their pews and amen the preacher and pay their tithes and offerings.  The concern is over MONEY not heresy.

Everything that Babylon concerns herself with is a business venture cloaked in religion.  She is a harlot.  What is the difference between a wife and a harlot?  They both have physical relations with a man, but one is an act of love and the other is an act of business.  The act is the same, but the difference is the exchange of MONEY.  Babylon is in love with only one thing, MONEY.  She uses everything else to get more wealth and thereby she spends money to make more money.  Think about it.  Whenever a particular TV Network host and hostess have a guest speaker or singer on their program, they display the name and address of the guest on the TV screen and urge the viewing audience to write to that address.  This accomplishes two things.  First, it indebts the guest to the hosts, financially.  In order to get more of this MONEY, they must extol the virtues of the system that is feeding them.  It is extremely hard to obey the Lord when He is telling you to bite the hand that feeds you!  This is how Babylon keeps her secret motives secret.  The unwitting ministry becomes an accessory to the crime and ends up covering over the whorish aspects of the system.

The second thing this accomplishes is the merchandising of the gospel.  When they display the name and address of the guest on the screen it in effect puts a giant machine into motion.  In the business world this is viewed as a financial bonanza.  All of us get mountains of junk mail in our mail box.  This mail is sent by companies that buy mailing lists and send out bulk advertising to thousands of people in hopes of getting a small percentage to respond.  A percentage of 4-6 people out of 100 is considered enough to make a financial killing…The same thing on TV.  Companies pay an unbelievable amount of MONEY for just 30 seconds of advertising during a show.  With this in mind, you can see the financial consequences of having ones name and address displayed on a TV screen where every telecast of this religious TV Network reaches millions of people world-wide with translators speaking every word in other languages.  So you thought they were all just singing and preaching for the love of Jesus?  The bare truth is that they are sitting on a gold mine.

There have been some ministers that are supposedly preaching a kingdom-life message (of the low-fat, low-substance variety) that have been allowed on this network with high hopes of reaching many more people with the message of the kingdom.  Sadly, they start out full of great statements of truth, and then after a period of time, just enough time to get used to a more luxuriant lifestyle, their message becomes milky and barely discernable as kingdom. L0 the power of MONEY!  It must never be underestimated!  If I could have the ear of every minister of Present Truth I would cry aloud to them of the danger of MONEY.  The writer of the book of Ecclesiastes says this about the good and bad of MONEY.

Eccl 7:11-12 11] Wisdom is good with an inheritance: and by it there is profit to them that see the sun. 12] For wisdom is a defense, and money is a defense: but the excellency of knowledge is, that wisdom giveth life to them that have it. (KJV)

MONEY without wisdom is death!  It is a fever that will drive you insane.  You will find yourself doing things that you would never have dreamed you could do.  It is a drug that you will sell out your principals and morals for.  The ministry of this word of the kingdom are especially susceptible to the allure of this false god.  We have gone without our needs met for so long that I am afraid we will be enchanted more easily by its dazzling brilliance than others.  I say this because I believe this realm of life, that has been so poor for so long, is going to come into a place of great prosperity in the near future.  Even as I write there are men and women of great wealth that God has preserved for the support of this message.

A word of caution to the wise.  Don’t be swept off your feet by the glitz and glamour of MONEY.  It is a powerful tool that has both death and life in it.  MONEY can be used by God’s people, or it can be abused by God’s people.  The priesthood of this day must guard against the inherent desire to prosper individually and to line their own pockets with funds that are earmarked for the needs of the body of Christ.  I am not telling us to be poverty – stricken and to walk in a false sense of sacrifice.  I do believe the Lord wants us to prosper and to be in good health.  But let us understand the difference between having our NEEDS being met and hording a vast amount of personal gain.  There was a reason for God not letting the tribe of Levi partake in the business ventures of the rest of the tribes of Israel.  The priest must be elevated above the snake pit of greed!

I have seen the henchmen of the TV Networks that try their best to convince God’s people that Jesus preached we should all be millionaires.  It would be downright hilarious if it wasn’t so sad to see these business people flashing diamond rings and rolodex watches at the screen while telling us that Jesus loved money and we should too.  If we would just sow a little seed their way, in the form of cold cash, why, we could have a harvest of Cadillacs and mansions in no time.  A flash of white teeth, an honest Abe face, slick Hollywood settings, and who wouldn’t believe them and send in your name and address to receive your free set of teaching tapes, absolutely FREE, for a love offering of $50.  Heaven help us.  What will be these poor ministers state of mind if the money market collapsed?  People threw themselves out of high rise windows during the depression.  MONEY is their god, and if it is taken away they will be without hope.  Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we will remember the name of the Lord our God!

If you doubt that the church is in this bad of shape, let me remind you that religion has the history of spawning some of the greatest con-men and con-women known to mankind.  I knew a minister that came to Detroit that had the gimmick of having a cross appear in the middle of his forehead at a set time of the service.  The people would go nuts and run up to the offering barrel with money in their hands.  It was done with a chemical applied to the skin that caused blood to come to the surface in 45 minutes.  Marjor Gortner, a small time actor now, used to be a child preacher who caused people across the United States to jump and holler and give all of their money.  The only trouble is, he never had an experience with God.  In fact, he didn’t even believe in God.  Add to this the fact that one of the most respected ministers on the Christian TV Networks locked himself in a prayer tower and declared that God would take him home if he didn’t receive an amount in the millions of dollars, and it is plain that the love of MONEY has had its toll of leaders of the Fundamental church.

Time and space limit me to recount, all of the charlatans that have stuck hidden receivers in their ears to get information on those in the crowds; slapped holy water from the holy land on the heads of the believers, which was drawn from their motel room faucet; Jim Jones that changed water into wine in his church basement, after a plumber installed a secret line that pumped wine into the faucet at a signal from Jones.  All of this and much, much, more is being done right now in the name of Jesus in churches across the world, with only one thing in mind.  Make more MONEY.

Why would these men and women do these things?  MONEY is the road to power.  Power means control.  Control leads to greater influence over people.  Influence allows a person to make more MONEY.  The circle is complete and the individual will do anything imaginable to keep the circle going.  Babylon is a master at keeping the circle intact.  Who is more powerful than the leaders?  Who is more controlling than the church?  Who is more influencing than the scholars that insist the Bible says what they say it does?  Eternal damnafion, the rapture of the church, laying on of hands of a “healer” to get in touch with God, teachers who tickle ears, prophets who prophecy lies, and the people love to have it so.  Let a new order arise!  Bring forth the priests that have the Urim and Thunmm!  Throw out the rotten meat and the watery wine, and the moldy bread that the people of God have been fed and set the feast before the hungry hearts.

Isa 55:1-3 I] Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat, yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price. 2] Wherefore do ye spend money for that which is not bread? and your labor for that which satisfieth not? hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness. 3] Incline your ear, and come unto me: hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David. (KJV)

Our greatest test will not be devils, or men, or dragons.  Our greatest test is going to be how we handle the finances of the kingdom.  One cannot imagine the lure of filthy lucre.  It will cause your message to change, your ministry to lose it’s edge, your vision to dull.  If not handles with extreme care, it will impair your judgment of right and wrong.  Over the years my wife and I have had many preachers of the present truth tell us they are going to go to the harlot system and deliver it from it’s Babylonian ways.  Unfailingly, each one has changed their message just enough to be accepted among the princes and merchants of Babylon.  How easy it is to become a star to the lesser orders.  The people are so hungry in the pews, you could throw them crumbs of the kingdom and they would think they are eating steak.  Each preacher that has went to the whore has been wooed by her compliments and favors.  They soon end up driving better cars, living in better houses, getting larger offerings.  What’s wrong with that, you ask?  Don’t they deserve all those things?  Yes, they do.  My question is, from my own experiences, what did they have to do to get them?

Let us be perfectly honest and frank about what we preach.  It is a message that is contrary to the nature of men.  It grates against the religious spirit.  It tells men to sit down and shut up and let God speak.  It reveals the man of sin in the temple, puts the spirit of Antichrist on the judgment seat of God, shines a piercing light upon the hypocrisy of a corrupt leadership, says “Woe, Woe, Woe” to the prophets who prophecy to please the flesh of men instead of God, demands the beheading of every priest that stands in the holy place and declares himself to be the mouth piece of God, expounds on the futility of men who preach about God without ever having a personal experience of His all-saving love and grace.  This message calls the foolish and weak and rejects the wise and strong, leads the believer of it on a trail that crosses raging rivers, climbs horrendous mountains, winds through dry, hot deserts, careens through the camp of every giant and dragon in the land, takes us to the very mouth of death and hell, brings us within a heart beat of certain destruction, walks us through the valley of the shadow of death, drives us into the wilderness, and some other stuff that if I told you about right now you would run away and hide!

Doesn’t sound like the kind of message you could build a mega-church on, now does it?  The bare truth is, you can’t, and you won’t.  And if you do, I have to believe you are not preaching the whole message to the people.  God is out to get a generation for Himself, by any means necessary.  Let the children play, but you priests of the Most High get yourselves up into the mountain and wait upon the Lord!  In the stillness, in the quiet of the secret place of the Most High, there is a Word that will change our lives.  If we will avail ourselves to this Word, Babylon will have no power over us. Our eyes will be for the Lord only.  Our only purpose will be to bring honor and glory and majesty to His name.  When we have been delivered from the love of MONEY, then we will be ready to lead the people to the next summit.  Otherwise we will only lead them to hell.

PART FOUR

THE BEAST

Rev 12:7-11 7] And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, 8] And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven. 9] And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was  cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. 10] And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night. 11] And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.  (KJV)

In the last issue of our series on Mystery Babylon and the New Jerusalem we looked at the major source of Babylon‘s power over her slaves.  That source is MONEY.  It is without a doubt the single most important resource that the present religious Babylonian system has at its disposal to continue the diabolical raping and pillaging of the sincere, but gullible, Christian masses.  I cannot overstate the danger of this beguiling system that operates under the spirit of anti-Christ and performs in the office of the false prophet of doom and despair.

The bible uses many names to reveal this false system and uses a type of terminology that layers the natures of this evil enemy into a chilling godhead.  In Rev. Chapter 12 it is seen as a great, red dragon.  The dragon form is the father form of the godhead.  It is hid within the outer forms of the beast that follow, being the power behind the images of the beast.

Rev. chapter 13 introduces a beast that rises from the sea, a symbol of dual humanity (calm one day, stormy the next; righteous one day, sinful the next; untrustworthy).  It has seven heads and ten horns and ten crowns, speaking of a terrifying unity in government and authority.  Upon the seven heads is written the name of blasphemy, which is the nature of the dragon.  In this particular verse the Greek word is #988 “Blasphen-tia” which is characterized as the worst kind of blasphemy, having to do with false witness. (The Church has performed the very worst sort of slander against God, declaring Him unable to save all of His creation and, in effect, making the death of Jesus of no account).  It is the nature of the dragon to bear false witness and to bear false tidings of the good news of the gospel.  The likeness of the beast is embodied in three flesh-eating beasts with great strength in dealing out death and rending its victims.  The most important thing to understand about this typology is that the form and structure is nothing in itself.  It derives all power and authority from the original nature of the dragon, which hides itself within the forms of the beast.

This is the MYSTERY of Babylon.  She operates much like the Christ.  Both are found in the hearts of men.  As much as Christ is not to be sought outside of His tabernacle, which we are, we should not be deceived into looking for the dragon outside of the tabernacle, which we are.  The basic root of all evil is in our house.  It is in our house that the man of sin dwells, not in demons, spirits, witches and the likes.  These are all forms of evil that are powerless without the nature of the dragon.  Eph. 6:12 “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world (age), against spiritual wickedness in high places.” Paul is telling the church of Ephesus not to miss the mark when they go to war and be deceived into fighting empty shadows.

I am sure that some are going to read this and say that I must not believe in the devil.  Let me clarify my position on this issue.  I believe in the spirit of the devil, but I do not believe in the form of the devil.  In other words, I do not discount the fact that the devil is a lot like God in the sense that he can take on any form he so desires.  However, I refuse to wrestle with any form other than the one that I know has the true power, and that is not in flesh and blood but in nature and spirit.  Having said that let me reiterate my prior statement.  The man of sin is in your house and is sitting in the temple of God as a god.  He would love for you to keep concerning yourself with his outward manifestations instead of seeing him where he truly is.  This is the greatest power of the serpent, to be able to disguise its tail as its head.  Think about it.  The dragon doesn’t appear in the form that he was defeated in back in chapter 12.  He must now appear in another form.

The form he chooses is an imitation of the true Godhead.  The dragon, the first beast, and the second beast.  It is a frightening parallel of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost.  The dragon is represented by the first beast who has no power in himself save what the dragon gives him.  Sound familiar?  The Son can do nothing of Himself but only speaks what He hears His Heavenly Father speak and only does what He sees His Heavenly Father do.  The third part of the unholy trinity is the second beast which has all the power of the first beast but also has the power to bring worship to the beast and hence to the dragon.  Sound familiar?  The Holy Spirit is given to bring us into worship and truth and to promote our servitude to Jesus Christ who acts as our mediator to the Father.  We are dealing with a nature that has been in the dragon since its creation in the form of the serpent in the garden.  Even then the serpent projects his fatal desire to be like God onto Eve and ultimately to Adam.  The nature stays hid in the form of greed, lust, power, idolatry, blasphemy and other things.

We are entering a new dimension in God that will not leave us with a root of evil, but will change our vile root of corruption into a root of incorruptibility.  As long as this root remains we will listen to our name being sung in the mouths of God’s people and we will desire to be gods.  As long as this root remains the ministry will listen to the voice of mammon instead of the voice of God.  True Sons will rise up in the day of God’s power and they will “overcome him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death”.  The dragon is going down!  His godhead will fall apart in the presence of the Corporate Son – as this company of warriors defeat the serpent by finding the head and cutting it off.  There has been a snake in the house, not in the fields and rocks, and the man of the house, the New Man from heaven, has a sword in his hand and he’s going hunting!

The true power of the first beast and the second beast lies in their ability to deceive.  They are dual and by this duality they stay in position to deceive… sometimes God-like and sometimes beast-like… sometimes right on the mark in their divination and other times fleshly and cunning with wrong motives.  God is judging the false prophets who prophecy for hire and reward.  The duality must stop in the ministry of the gifts.

Please don’t take this statement wrong and go running with it to stir up conflict, but listen to my heart.  There is no place in the present order for ministry that carry on healing campaigns and so-called gifts of discernment just to fill the empty pews with a bunch of empty heads, so they can reap bigger offerings.  God will not be held hostage to a carnally-minded people that have to see a miracle before they will believe on Him.  This Present Truth order that we are breaking over into is not the order to bring Babylonian practices into.  Let every minister take care on how they move in this most sacred and holy order.  If you want your fortune told to – you go to a fortune teller, I am sure they can work up enough of a psychic power to give you a few goose bumps and make you feel better about yourself, but woe unto the prophet of God that gives in to the carnal, immature desires of the people and starts to prophecy out of his own heart.

This is not the order for us to bring the circus acts of the dragon system into the midst of the holy place.  Ministry, we are in the midst of a people that have been to hell and back, just to get to this Day.  They did not forsake all that the religious clowns had to offer them just to finally get to the mountain to find more clowns waiting for them!  Be silent all flesh!  If we can’t fill our meeting places with people that are seeking after the truth and nature of the Mighty God, then let us keep the feast holy with the few that we have until the appointed Sons are gathered.  Stop trying to do it in your own strength.  Wait on the Lord. Be still until you hear the wind of the spirit of God in the trees.  Let us deafen our ears to the inherent nature of the beast and take up our residence in heavenly places with Christ Jesus.

At the appointed hour, in the acceptable time, in a moment, in a twinkling of an eye, heaven will open and the ark will be seen in the temple.  Trumpets will sound, bells will ring, anthems will be played, creation will sing.  Alleluia, Salvation, and glory, and honor and power unto the Lord our God; Alleluia, Amen; for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth.  Let us be glad and rejoice and give honor to him; for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready.  And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.  And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb, And he saith unto me, these are the true sayings of God.  So be it!

I have no doubt that the present religious system is involved in this unholy trinity of dragon and beasts spoken of in Revelation.  It’s specialty is to perform miracles and operate through a false anointing of psychic powers and divination that looks like the hand of God and hides the true nature of the beast.  I have been to services where the people were so enchanted by the dragon that the prophets would offer different prices on their prophecies.  I lie not.  They would announce that for an offering of $25 they would pray for someone in the congregation.  A line would form for the $25 prayer.  Then they would announce a $50 line for a prayer plus an autographed picture of the prophet.  Then they would announce the “blue light special” of the night.  For only $100 the prophet would not only pray for you, and give you his autographed picture, but would prophecy over you and guarantee a financial blessing upon you.

The people ate it up.  This particular church in Detroit didn’t have an offering basket.  They had the drummer do a drum roll and they rolled out a 50 gallon barrel!  I couldn’t help humming under my breath as this spectacle unfolded before me, the old song, roll out the barrel, we’ll have a barrel of fun”.  It was a circus, a sideshow, a carnival, not a church of the living God.  No wonder Jesus overturned some tables and drove the money-changers from the temple.  Carnival hawkers had taken it over!  Shame on the pastors and ministers and prophets for having the gall to merchandise the gospel; but double shame on the people of God for loving to have it so!

I hope you don’t think this man-worship is just in the other orders, the Pentecostal churches and charismatic assemblies.  This is found even in our own crowd.  I have seen meetings where the word of God was being preached with power and truth and everyone is sitting like lumps on a log until the minister starts to enter a ministry of “call-out.”  All of a sudden everyone is on the edge of their seats and are fervently praying for God to speak to them through the prophet.  Shame on you!  Don’t you know that when the word of God is being ministered through the anointing of life, it doesn’t get any more “personal” than that?  We put such a premium on a “personal word” received by a prophet.

Anymore, before I minister, I feel the need to tell the people in the congregation not to be disappointed if I don’t move in the gifts of prophecy, but rather treat the preaching of the word as their prophecy.  That is really the biblical gift of prophecy.  It isn’t to tell the future and to forecast someone’s activities, but to preach the word with a prophetic understanding.  Each service is different and every gathering has its unique needs which demands the minister to throw their canned sermons out the window and preach prophetically, hitting the need of that particular gathering.  This is the “gift of prophecy.” It was never meant to be a sideshow like the charismatic movement has made it to be.  I am not against the personal prophecy, in fact, I myself move in prophecy as the spirit leads.  The distinction needs to be made between the “gift” of prophecy and the “spirit’ of prophecy.  The Spirit of prophecy is creative and sets the heavens in order.  It reveals the intents of the heart and remits wrong and establishes the right.  The “gift” of prophecy describes things, the “spirit” of prophecy changes things.  I just feel that the prophets who move in this fashion should take more responsibility in weaning the people of God off the milk of letting someone else hear God for them, and start to encourage the people of God to hear God for themselves.

If we don’t, we are going to have a mess on our hands.  Our assemblies will be full of spiritually retarded believers, not able to think for themselves or dress themselves or feed themselves.  The visiting evangelist has to realize that when he spoils the congregation of the church where he’s preaching by lining them all up and giving them prophecies that are projected to the prophet by the minds of those that want to receive them, then the pastor of that poor church has to spend the next month trying to get them to eat meat and vegetables instead of the candy that was stuffed into them.  If the prophet would allow it, the people will draw a prophecy from them every night and sometimes several times a night.  I have had people come through my prayer line when I moved in this manner and then after receiving what the Lord had for them they would get back in line to see if they could get some more.  The sorry thing about that is they didn’t care if the words came from God or not, just so long as they received a word, any word.

The modern church has made the people to be this weak.  I have had a lot of our prophets today tell me that they feel the need of the people so much in our services, and that they are starved for a “personal word ministry”.  When my daughter Michelle was a little child she was always “starved” for sweets and candies.  If I gave in to her “starvation” every time she voiced it, she would have been a basket case.  Today, she is a healthy woman with children of her own that are “starved” also; as their “Paw-Paw” and “Nana” Charlotte have a tendency to help their starvation a little too much to suit Michelle.  We have to remind ourselves that it is extremely selfish of us to load the kids down with sweets while at our house and then pack them off to their mother who has to put up with a bunch of hyper kids climbing the walls.

There is a great parallel here between the natural spoiling of a child and the spiritual spoiling of the child of God.  As a grandparent it is a tradition to spoil the grandchild and there is a reason for this tradition.  The spoiling endears the child to the grandparent and every grandparent wants to be special to their grandchildren.  It is a warm feeling to have your grands beg their parents to come stay at your house for the night.  Down deep inside we know the underlying motive here is not just because they love us so much, although they do, but because they know they can get away with murder at our house!  We let them get away with things that would have brought smoke and fire down on their mother or father when they lived at our house.  But we, as grandparents, have a great need to be loved by our children’s children, and we will overlook false motives and the breaking of generational rules of the house and even the eventual frown and chiding of the parent in desperate hope that before the night is over we will be rewarded with 30 seconds of having small arms wrap themselves around our necks and having precious tiny lips pressing themselves to our checks and hear the whisper of a child’s voice in our ear, “I love you”.  No sweeter words will ever be spoken.  It is intoxicating to us and we would cross rivers and oceans and endure dread warnings from our sons and daughters for the chance to do it again next time.

It works the same way in the ministry.  We all want to be loved in a special way.  No one is loved by the child of God any more than the prophet.  Why?  It could be because the prophets are giving the people only what THEY want and not what the Lord wants.  Be wary of the prophet that only gives good prophecies!  God is not always going to say “Well done, thou good and faithful servant’.  Sometimes He is going to tell us to get our rear end in gear and get with the program or sit the next millennium out.  When is the last time you heard that given in a “personal word? It is an inherent weakness in every prophet to watch over.  Our word must be free from the psychic drawing of the congregation.

I have sat and watched ministry get drawn away from the word that God was speaking out of them into a word that was projected to them by the congregation.  If you stay tuned into the sound or pitch of the trueness of God’s word, you can hear it change from a RING into a CLANG in the middle of one’s ministry.  We must not underestimate the power of the carnal mind.  Thoughts have power and every oracle of God must shield themselves from this power.  Otherwise, we will be filled with a mixture of life and death and our word will lose its effectiveness.  Paul warns Timothy:

2 Tim.  4:1-5 1] I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom; 2] Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. 3] For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; 4] And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. 5] But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry. (KJV)

Spoiling the child can get to be expensive.  Every gift given sets a new standard for love and each gift must get more outlandish and appeasing.  An old story is brought to mind about a man who found a small monkey that was cute and fun.  The monkey’s favorite place to sit was on the man’s shoulders and so he took the monkey with him everywhere he went, riding on his back.  The monkey didn’t eat very much at first, and whenever he wanted something to eat he would playfully pull the man’s hair or tap his head.  As time went by the little monkey turned out to be a baby gorilla and as the gorilla grew larger and stronger he also grew a bigger appetite.  Soon, the man was spending all of his day carrying this big gorilla on his back and looking for enough bananas to appease the animal.  Needless to say, the man had a very bald and lumpy head when he ran out of bananas!

So it is with those that choose to preach what the people want to hear and those that prophecy out of their own heart for a bigger following.  In the end, that thing that was cute and fun can become big and demanding, and the large friendly crowds can become hostile mobs if not given their quota of sweets.  Let us leave the table of the kings of the earth and let us catch the things of God.  The three Hebrew children forsook the wine and meat of Nebuchadnezzar and ate pulse (vegetables and seeds) and water and their countenance was fairer than the king’s servants.

Get weaned off the prophets and workers of gifts and start to hear the voice of the turtledove in your own land.  Stop following the signs and let the signs follow you.  God hasn’t brought you to this place to be like the other nations (orders) who want to have an image before them.  Our God is in each one of us in the same proportion.  No one has more of God or less of God.  That is a fabrication of the old order, meant to endear us to flesh and authorities of men.  God fills all things with Himself, all of Himself.  There is only one spirit of God, with many different applications and manifestations.  To one there is a gift to prophecy (preach), to another the gift to heal, to another the gift to teach, but all are manifestations of the exact same amount of God in each heart.  All of the gifts are in all of us.

It is sad to say, but the working of the gifts of the spirit is one of the most deceiving instruments of the dragon system.  Tapping into mind control and flirting with mass hypnotism, the beast is performing miracles left and right and the people love to have it so.  No one wants to be told that God won’t heal them; but the simple truth is that God is not going to heal every one that gets sick.  Some are going to be called home to be with the Lord.  Some are going to go through suffering and all the prayer in the world is not going to change their physical state of being.  The simple truth is, until the change takes place, some of us are going to go through the grave.

I am sorry to say that the teachers and prophets of the orders of naming and claiming have made this life to be something that it is not meant to be.  Even our own order of immortality has corrupted the minds of the people to the extent that if we get a headache we wonder if God is still on the throne.  We all have some cups of our life that no prophet on earth can remove from us.  We must drink from the cup and then walk through it with our hands lifted up and our mouth filled with praise.  I’m telling you folks – God is wanting to show us a more excellent way!  I wish I could write to you and tell you that you will never get sick or that you will never lose your job or that no one you know will die, but I would be telling you a lie!  Get your hope higher than this present life!  There is a life to come!  For some they will go through the grave to get it, for others they will go through the death to themselves to get it, but either way it is through suffering.

This is not a gloom and doom message, it is a wake up call to reality.  The prophet was only sent to one widow’s house to raise that one son, but there were many more widows in the land with dying sons that never had the prophet darken their door!  Had God deserted them?  No!  He never said He would heal every widow’s sick son.  But He did say He would never leave us nor forsake us!  He did say that He has gone to prepare a place for us, that where He is we may be also!  I can’t promise you that you won’t die or suffer hardships, but I can promise you that if you will praise Him in the midst of it all, there awaits you a crown of life and a joy and a peace that surpasses any emotion known to man.  This joy and peace will wipe away every pain and scar of your suffering.  Never again will a tear fall from your eye and your whole being will be embraced by a loving light that will surround you for eternity.  You will sing a song of the redeemed that even the angels of God will be envious to sing.  We will see our loved ones that have gone on to be with the Lord and we will have an eternity of fellowship with the host of heaven.

I don’t know what your life in this world will be like in the external, but I do know that deep inside of you there is a King sitting and He will not put so much on you that you will fall and not rise again.  Whatever your lot has been, whether pleasant or suffering, give God glory and let hope eternal rise in your heart.  A new day is at hand and regardless of our situation we have come to an inspired conclusion.  Whether full or empty, rich or poor, well or sickly, loved or abused, our God is worthy!  Let the prisoner proclaim Him to be worthy, let all that have suffered for His namesake shout He is worthy, let the forsaken and the oppressed cry it aloud, Our God Is Worthy!

Your body can be ravaged by cancer or disease and you can be delivered from that body of corruption whether you ever get healed physically or not.  Come up hither dear one, ascend in the heavens and leave your body far behind, get lost in God, lock yourself away into His substance and make that eternity of suffering into a mere “moment of affliction.”  This is what I can promise you.  If you start to focus on the Christ within you, and not wait for a prophet to come to your house, then you will find a blessed place in God, a refuge from the storm, a secret hiding place, that is in your midst every minute of every hour.

0h, my heart cries out for the suffering in the body of Christ!  Our message must carry the hope of something more than feeling good and being rich.  If you would care to come out of your ivory towers, dear prophets, maybe you would notice that the majority of the people in our midst are not enjoying our little trip on this planet called earth.  For the majority of the people it is filled with heartache and trials and they see the ministry get up in their pulpits and tell them that it is all an illusion.  That if we just look in the mirror each morning and tell ourselves that we are healed and that we are whole, then according to our tested formula, we should feel better.  What you have failed to realize, 0h blind teachers, is that the majority of the people can’t even make it to the bathroom mirror.  Some of them are bed-fast, wracked in pain and have listened to your tapes and read your writings and they are still not healed.  As if this isn’t bad enough, they are starting to feel that maybe God has something against them since you make it sound like everyone else is feeling wonderful and simply marvelous.

Most of the positive outlook preachers and teachers have no clue as to what it is like to just get through a day without feeling like you will die before you awake the next morning.  Most of your confession people are those that have never been sick a day of their life.  They have never known what it is like to be homeless and not know how you are going to get something to eat each day you awake.  Their biggest concern is whether to have bacon or sausage for breakfast.

I am speaking as frank as possible dear ones.  In our weekly services here in Dickson, TN, at The House Of The Lord Assembly, we have started a prayer list for anyone that has a need.  We make this list available to all of our friends that get our weekly and monthly tapes.  I will list just a few of the prayer requests that have been on it this month.  A seven year old boy in Oklahoma that has cancer in his knee, is going through chemotherapy and if not successful he will lose his leg; A woman with cancer in NC;  A woman minister of kingdom truth in Florida diagnosed with multiple melanoma;  A baby in Florida due November 9 with possible spinal befida, parents are ministry of the kingdom message;  A woman in California with son on crack;  A man in PA. in hospital, drug overdose and alcoholic;  Many prayers for alcohol deliverance, drug deliverance, cancer, leukemia, financial needs, and it goes on and on.  The list is getting so large that we cannot do it all in our service anymore, but we will be making it available for our assembly to take it home on paper so they can pray over the needs during the week.

I didn’t even mention Bro. Eby in Texas recovering from a painful neck surgery, or Bro. Dale Davis in Cal. who is lying in a deep coma after having a massive heart attack after preaching in a service, or Bro. Elton Weatherly, who is lying in a hospital in Michigan after having a heart attack and then falling in the hospital room and breaking his fingers.  These are all men that have had a great impact on the people of God through their ministries.  It is a humbling thing to realize that regardless of our high and lofty revelations, we are all still susceptible to the same calamities that befall all other people.  The only ones that don’t believe that are those that haven’t had anything happen to them yet.

My wife, one of the greatest ministers of word and music that we have living today, in my humble and impartial opinion, is lying right now in my living room with a pain racked body unable to get through a single day without extreme pain in various parts of her body.  Why?  My only answer is that God wants to be glorified.  Let us remember, God doesn’t glory in sickness, but He does glory when those that are sick, and broken, and put in impossible situations, can lift up their eyes in that impossibility and cry Our God Is Worthy!

There is a difference between the act of praise and the act of worship, precious believer of God.  The act of praise is one that comes about by the lips and can indeed come from the heart.  It is a moment taken aside from all other activities to give God glory for what He has done.  Worship, however, is a word that originates from the word, “worthiness”.  It is not a vocal praise or a time set aside to praise, it is a mind set, an abiding existence in truth, that truth being that God is worthy of our praise regardless of the state of our being.

This is the most powerful, life-changing truth I have ever come into contact with.  It is this truth of true WORSHIP, the act of existing in His worthiness, and letting our walk, our demeanor, our carriage be such that neither sickness, nor death, nor hell, nor the grave, nor devils, nor principalities, nor famine, nor fear of our own life, nor anything in this life will deter us from our final and triumphant transformation.

I’ll never forget one night many years ago, when my wife, while preaching from a dimension of heavenly places, declared to an assembly her commitment to this word of life regardless of the obstacles placed in her way.  Her words were prophetic and carried a great weight with them, but they were words spoken out of an existence of worship.  We have thought about those words many times together over the years and we have never taken them back or wished they had never come.  She said simply and emphatically, “I will preach life if it kills me!”  It almost has!
