THE OATH

Acts.3:19-20 Peter writes “Repent therefore and turn again that your sins may be blotted out… that God may send the Messiah (Christ) appointed for you.  In Luke 22:28-29, Jesus says, “Now you are those who have continued with me in my trials. I am covenanting a covenant with you, as my father covenanted a kingdom to me.” Jesus said, “I can do nothing of myself. It is the father in me that does the work. Jesus also says to us, “Without me you can do nothing. This is the essence of the new covenant.

Heb.6:13-19 When God made the promise to Abraham, prior to the law covenant; he also promised that it would contain an allotment in the promise. Some have the word inheritance. Either way it has to be divine participation. God, finding no one greater than himself to bring about the promise, made an oath that He would bring about what He promised. Those who find refuge in these two immutable truths, have an anchor for the soul beyond the veil.

Jesus was the forerunner.  When the son was sent, he came as the surety of the promise. The law by Moses did nothing to fulfill or make void the promise. Now, the law covenant has been superceded by His son, who came in the likeness of sinful flesh. The guilt in the law and it‘s penalty are displaced by the spirit of the word. The letter being unable to accomplish its demands, for the weakness of the flesh, provided no help. The fulfillment is elevated to the spirit of the law in Christ Jesus. Jn.16:8 If I go away I will send you the Comforter, the spirit of truth. He will convict the world of sin… because they do not believe in me.

Moses law deals with the flesh man, the spirit with the issues of life and death. It is now the law of the spirit and life in Christ Jesus. The law of sin and death is the old covenant. Both covenants have a law and a priesthood to minister their purpose. They are not compatible. The ministry of the new covenant is not mixed with the old. Now it is believing - not doing that brings relationship and deliverance from the flesh man.

The mind of the spirit is life and peace. The soul of Christ brings a new sense of being to the believer. Guilt is not a factor in him who knows no sin. As believers we need to grow and encourage growing up into the head (mind) of the Christ of God. The new covenant is based on receiving Christ. There can be no union in covenant without the Son of God. The blessing of Abraham comes in spirit, not in letter. (Gal.3:14)

If you see yourself as only human, you are not a partaker of the promise. The flesh man, in which all have sinned, is already judged. The spirit brings conviction. God did not send his son into the world to condemn, but to save. This is a covenant that is based on a promise and believing the son who is the mediator of it… it is a Sabbath of ceasing all works and believing the word of the Son. It is quite amazing what the gospel of the kingdom offers the believer. These truths have never entered the heart of man.
