THE UNITY of the SPIRIT

“Endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; One Lord, one faith, one baptism, One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.” Eph 4:3-6

Looking at today’s Christianity, it is very hard to realize the unity of the spirit. This verse does not say that we must keep the unity of the doctrine, or the unity of the knowledge; it is the unity of the Spirit that we must keep. Almost every systematized congregation in the denominations and non-denominations and free groups and home groups have their declaration of faith. If you do not adhere to this statement of their faith you will not be welcome among them. Oh they may say they love you, but their actions prove otherwise. They will only love you from a distance. They will be afraid that you may deceive some of their flock because you do not adhere to their faith. This is unity only among those who believe like you do. Even among the same groups there are many divisions. The Baptists are divided among themselves, the Pentecostals are divided among themselves and the divisions go on and on. As long as you base your fellowship on the doctrines of your particular beliefs, you will never know the unity of the Spirit that Paul is sharing in these verses.

Paul says there is ONE Lord, there is ONE faith, there is ONE baptism, and there is ONE God and Father of all who is in all. There is not a Pentecostal Lord, a Baptist Lord, or a Lutheran Lord. What then is the unity of the Spirit? The unity of the Spirit is simply living out from the Spirit of God within you, and He is not divided or prejudice against Himself. God will fellowship with you regardless of, and in spite of your particular religious faith. If you are in a religion and have a heart for God, He will bring you out of that religion into the unity of the faith. You will begin to walk in the heart of God and in the love of God. Not just for your neighbor. Not just for those who go to the same fellowship you do, But for the world. Christianity is so divided and that is why they are such a mockery to the world. They tell the world that God loves them and the majority of them will not fellowship with one another.

"There is ONE body and ONE Spirit even as you are called in ONE hope of your calling. ONE Lord, ONE faith, ONE baptism, ONE God and Father of all who is above all and through and in you all.”
