VICTORIOUS and GLORIOUS CHRIST WITHIN

BY:   KENNETH GREATOREX

“Christ in you,” what a glorious message! The truth of the now indwelling Christ. While some are desiring to go past the veil into the holy of holies for more of God, others, using different expressions, long for manifest sonship. Call it what you will, the heart cry is to go deeper with God and to enter into a realm free of the hindrances we now have to deal with. All of creation longs for, in fact, “the whole creation groans and labors with birth pangs together until now.”  [Romans 8:22] Notice! Something was happening EVEN AS Paul wrote. God’s purposes were being fulfilled. We long for the consummation!

The reality, the glory, is not now in the outer, it is the indwelling anointing. It is Christ who is now through our vessels of clay, with their limitations, being glorified in and through them. Oh! What a Treasure we have in these vessels, these temples of His indwelling! Our understanding of God and His purposes is so infinitesimal. Our theology of God is so pagan. A. W. Tozer wrote, “The church has surrendered her once lofty concept of God and has substituted it for one so low, so ignoble, as to be utterly unworthy of thinking, worshiping men.” And: “With our loss of the sense of the majesty has come the further loss of religious awe and the consciousness of the divine Presence.”

Instead we have made THINGS to be central such as the realm of the supernatural, and worship manifestation rather than Christ. When not doing that we are engaged in so called SPIRITUAL WARFARE where we have a non-biblical view of Satan. Ray Prinzing, wrote, “Strange enough, through the years, the carnal mind accepted pagan theories, and another so called god was brought into the theology of man. They dressed him in black, gave him a pitchfork and forked tail and horns, called him a Devil, and then proceeded to give him much of their allegiance. When something good happened along the way, they supposed the Good Lord might have done it. When something bad happened to cross their path, they just knew that the Evil Devil caused it, and they negatively sang his praise and told everyone about his awful deed. Thus more and more the purposes of God being wrought out through the ages were ignored and cast aside, and His sovereign control of the interplay of good and evil was not even considered, for they occasionally had a good God, but mostly feared a bad Devil.”

The theology of many supposedly Bible believing Christians is astonishing. Their view is one of DEFEAT, DEFEAT, and more DEFEAT. They are afraid of the devil, and a conjectured antichrist system coming by various conspiracy theories. They appear to believe that Satan defeated Jesus as they have in effect relinquished everything and almost everyone to him. They have no “lofty concept of God.” The cry of Jesus, “It is finished!” (John 19:30) is not believed! “Finished” from the Greek teleo Strong’s #5055, means, to bring to an end, complete, to perfect. Why do they think there must be some future battle that Jesus must fight again? To suggest such is making a mockery of His total and complete victory.

We now function in the authority of the Name of Jesus, based upon our rights as partakers of the New Covenant in His blood that He has established. We are a “kingdom people,” NOT a defeated people! To allow ourselves to be so taken up with the evident problems in our world that we evidence disbelief in His absolute victory has doomed the effectiveness of the church. The war is over, we deal with mopping up the remnants of the enemies troops. Jesus reigns now as King and Lord! (Acts 2:30-36)

Concerning Psalm 2:4 Oswald Chambers said, “Satan is overcome not in a battle, but by the easy might of a power greater than his own coming upon him, and that power is none other than the Lord Himself. Every now and again when you look at life from a certain angle it seems as if evil and wrong and legalized iniquity are having it all their own way and you feel that everything must go to pieces; but it doesn’t, around it is the sovereignty of God, “Hitherto shalt thou come, but no further.” Blessed be the Name of God, evil shall not ultimately triumph! Let evil do its worst, the arrogance of self-interested iniquity in all shapes and forms surge as it may, but “He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision.” The Spirit of God shatters every power of the world, the flesh and the devil, every power of sin and domination of Satan.”

It is the indwelling Christ who is our spiritual victory. We walk not in a personal victory, but in the almighty victory of Jesus Christ. We have been reconciled to God by His life-giving blood – not the blood cells, but the Life therein. He is our “propitiation,” our “mercy seat,” the One who has redeemed us to the Father. To be redeemed is more than being bought with a price, IT IS BEING RESTORED TO THE RIGHTFUL OWNER! Satan had no right to us, we were stolen or kidnapped, because of Adam’s fall. However, God has always been in control! Men of faith confessed this throughout Scripture.

“For it pleased the Father that in Him all the fullness should dwell, and by Him to reconcile all things to Himself, – having made peace through the blood of His cross.” (Colossians 1:19, 20) For most of us the understanding of these words is limited, by faith, or theology. It is sufficient to say that the eternal purposes that God had back before the foundation of the world, however zig-zag the pathway may seem to us, will be fulfilled! “Christ in you the hope of your glorification.” (Colossians 1:27 Williams NT) When we realize the hope of His glory, He will be glorified in us. Amen!

The concept of the glory of Christ is more than a hope of going to “heaven,” rather it is the “hope” of heaven being in us. There have been times when there have been visible unveilings of glory. What God is desirous of is the display of the character of the Glorious One in us. There shall yet come a morphoo (#3445) a change of state, a formation of the character of Christ in all who will allow the process of metamorphosis to take place. Now we are limited as a caterpillar, but in His timing we shall become the radiance of, not just a butterfly, but of Jesus Christ.
