WHAT ABOUT SIN?

BY:  MAX ENDE

This subject is close to my heart as it is with every single human on the planet. It is a subject that has been distorted and feared and thrown like a stone at the Sons of God for thousands of years. The only way to deal with the subject of sin is to look at the Truth.

First off what is sin? You may really be surprised at the answer. If you think sin is breaking the Law, you would be missing the mark…a little. The biblical truth is that you break God’s law because of the sin that is in you. “Sin” and “a sin” are two different concepts. Sin is not just an act; it is a condition, a state of being. It is a condition all men live in. You sin because of the sin in your flesh.

Now look at the story of Cain and Abel found in Genesis 4:1-16. Read the entire story and meditate on this:

GEN 4:6-7 6] Then the LORD said to Cain, “Why are you angry? Why is your face downcast? 7] If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must master it.”

Naturally we see that indeed Cain could not master the sin crouching at his door. In fact sin mastered him and all of us. Men were hopelessly unable to be righteous before our righteous God because we were all slaves to the Sin in us. That sin is in rebellion against God and cannot obey Him. But God requires that we master Sin. Overcome and dominate it. Now there’s the rub. How can we do that?

Paul spends a great deal of time on the subject of sin in his letter to the Romans. You would do well to read chapters 4 through 8 to get a sense of what the Holy Spirit speaks to us. Paul comes to certain conclusions about sin that are very interesting.

ROM 7:18-20 18] I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. 19] For what I do is not the good I want to do; no, the evil I do not want to do–this I keep on doing. 20] Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it.

ROM 7:21-24 21] So I find this law at work: When I want to do good, evil is right there with me. 22] For in my inner being I delight in God’s law; 23] but I see another law at work in the members of my body, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within my members. 24] What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death?

You see, there is a trap here. The trap that Satan used in the beginning to enslave men into a state of being that there was no escape from except death. You see, Adam and the Woman ate the fruit from the tree of the knowledge of GOOD and EVIL. However only God is good.

MK 10:18 “Why do you call me good?” Jesus answered. “No one is good except God alone and GEN 3:22 And the LORD God said, “The man has now become like one of us, knowing good and evil.

We became like God because we know good and evil, but the flesh is unable to be good. Why? The flesh is merely a form and not the Truth. “Only God alone is good” Since it (the flesh) is unable to be good it does evil constantly. Adam (mankind) became a victim of the Law of Sin and Death. God’s Spirit could not inhabit Adam in this state. And Adam could not stand before His righteous creator. So he had to hide to live. This is a downward spiraling pit that all men find themselves in. They know in their minds what is good, but cannot attain it in the flesh. No matter what they do, the sin inside of them will not allow them to do it. Finally they stop trying and live in their evil, spending the rest of their lives trying to come to grips (mentally) with their hopeless condition.

Make no mistake. All men are in this condition. From our early youth we began to comprehend this dilemma in our minds. We were dominated by sin so we created lies to enable us to live with the agony of the knowledge of good and evil. All kinds of defenses are set up in man’s mind to fight the irresistible gravitational pull downward into evil. The mind becomes deceptive as a defense. Soon all men create philosophies in there minds to cope with their fallen condition until they justify themselves through empty philosophies or dead works of the law or self righteous attitudes or just plain self centered thinking.

The mind has to exchange the truth of God (which is unbearable to it) for lies so that it can maintain it’s temporary life. This never works however because of the Law of Sin and Death. The downward spiral always ends in the grave. There are no exceptions to the rule. Men build, in their minds, clever devises and reasoning’s that fall apart at the graveyard. Men die because of the sin that dwells in them. The sin leads them as slaves to the pit.

How can a man ever escape such a sad and terrible state?

God, in His mercy called out a people for Himself and introduced them to His Law. Through the Law God exposed the sin nature in man that was killing him. He made a covenant with Israel‘s descendants that if they obeyed His Laws and followed His statutes He would be their God and they would be blessed. When Israel followed God’s commandments, they prospered. But in the end the sin in them overtook them and they were dispossessed. And, no matter how well they did keeping the Law (in their minds) they still ended up in the grave.

Jesus Christ entered the world through the Holy Spirit. He was the very embodiment of the Mosaic Law. He fulfilled every part of the Law and showed man that God’s Law is not only worthy to be obeyed, it is good. However Jesus Christ’s main mission to the world was to be the Lamb of God; The Father’s sacrifice of atonement for all men everywhere. Since Jesus was the very embodiment of God’s Law, when He went to the tree to be crucified, God’s Law was with Him and in Him.

COL 2:13-14 13 When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your sinful nature, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins, 14 having canceled the written code, with its regulations, that was against us and that stood opposed to us; he took it away, nailing it to the cross.

God the Father did an astounding thing; He canceled His own Law by the death of His Son. Christ agreed to this by forgiving His murderers from the cross. So now all men live in a new state of being called Grace.

This grace is a period of time and a state of being. Grace is afforded to all men who have a moving breathing life in the earth. While in this time of grace God presents the gift of His Christ to all men freely while they are yet sinners. Through the resurrected Life in Christ that is received by any man, he becomes the Son of God and the Law is given to that man in His Spirit and not in his mind. The Christ or Anointing is actually the Spirit of Jesus Christ and the receiver becomes the person of Christ in the flesh. The receiver’s old nature dies and the new creation in Christ is made alive in that man. Now that man is in a state of grace while Christ is fully formed in the man. The sin nature which died exists in a time frame…the past. This is the arena of the carnal mind. Christ however, is timeless and Lives in the eternal now. As the Christ renews the mind with Truth through identity with God the Father, the sin nature evaporates into a phantom and loses its grip of the mind and body. The new creation in Christ is eternal the sin nature is temporal or temporary.

This is the truth of God hidden from all mankind by Satan’s religious lies and deceptions. But God’s Word will not return to Him empty. He has revealed the Son of God in millions of believers and the day of the Lord is at hand. Religion will tell you that we must wait to shed these bodies to overcome our sin nature, but Christ Jesus already overcame it and we have His nature as our nature. There are not two natures in one body. There is only Christ. He is our life. There is however a mind that exists in the past. He believes he is still alive when in fact he never had life at all. The only way to overcome ‘the lie’ is with the Truth. The Truth is you and the Truth is in you.

So then:

ROM 7:25 Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, I myself in my mind am a slave to God’s law, but in the sinful nature a slave to the law of sin.

Now allow me to point out that being a slave is not a good thing. Being a slave in your mind to God’s law is not what God requires or desires. God wants us free.

ROM 8:1-4 1] Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, 2] because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death. 3] For what the law was powerless to do in that it was weakened by the sinful nature, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful man to be a sin offering. And so he condemned sin in sinful man, 4] in order that the righteous requirements of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the sinful nature but according to the Spirit.

Do you see the three figures here?

·The mind, a slave to God’s law.

·The sinful nature, a slave to sin

·The Spirit, Free!

RO 8:5-8 5] Those who live according to the sinful nature have their minds set on what that nature desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. 6] The mind of sinful man is death, but the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace; 7] the sinful mind is hostile to God. It does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so. 8] Those controlled by the sinful nature cannot please God.

Now this is slippery for the carnal mind. Religion will have us believe that ‘control’ is a choice. This is not true. You have no choice at all in either situation. If Christ is in you then the Spirit controls you. If Christ is not in you then you are controlled by the fallen nature. There is no real choice, only states of being. The only real control we have is what we believe.

RO 8:9-11 8] You, however, are controlled not by the sinful nature but by the Spirit, if the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ. 10] But if Christ is in you, your body is dead because of sin, yet your spirit is alive because of righteousness. 11] And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit, who lives in you.

Remember, Paul spoke these words to people he never met. He had no way of knowing their individual character or works. Paul knew, however, the truth. And the truth was and is for all of us. It does not matter what it looks like, if Christ is in the Spirit controls you.

Now here is Satan’s defeat and God’s wisdom, justice and victory. Christ died the death. He presented His blood to His Father, which was promptly accepted. God raised Christ from the dead and took Him to Himself. Now the Holy Spirit Calls all men (Through Grace) to turn from their wicked ways (of life) and believe on the Lord, Jesus Christ.

By doing so, you are adopted (accepted) into the family of God as a son and made free from the law of sin and death. You are no longer slaves in your mind to God’s Law and no longer slaves in your bodies to sin. You are made righteous apart from the Law and now you must allow the Holy Spirit to renew your mind with revelation knowledge.
