WHO IS CHRIST?

Divine disclaimer!!!

All those who espouse revelatory insight such as God speaking to them or through them all routinely make errors. Their understanding should not be the foundation for yours – it should just help point the way to the truth, as you understand it.

I NEW WINESKIN NEEDED

John 16:12 I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.

Matthew 9:16-17 16 No one puts a piece of unshrunk cloth on an old garment; for the patch pulls away from the garment, and the tear is made worse. 17 Nor do they put new wine into old wineskins, or else the wineskins break, the wine is spilled, and the wineskins are ruined. But they put new wine into new wineskins, and both are preserved.”

New wine is volatile and expanding. It needs a strong container that is able to flex to hold its explosive properties. This new wine skin is your mind. It is the way you see things and process information from your current spiritual standpoint. This new wineskin will demand a removal of your self-imposed doctrinal limitations. The mustard seed is shedding its husk and needs an environment in which to become full and mature.  This is kingdom expansion.

It must be noted also that you cannot mingle the old with the new. The new patch of material will only cause damage to the old cloth. The same with limited spiritual truth. The scripture is clear when it states that we see in part and prophesy in part. It further states that when that which is perfect shall come that which is in part will pass away.

1 Corinthians 13:10 But when that which is perfect has come, then that which is in part will be done away.

Hebrews 5:9-13 And having been perfected, He became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him, 10 called by God as High Priest “according to the order of Melchizedek,” 11 of whom we have much to say, and hard to explain, since you have become dull of hearing. 12 For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the first principles of the oracles of God; and you have come to need milk and not solid food. 13 For everyone who partakes only of milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, for he is a babe.

Hebrews 6:1-12 1 Therefore, leaving the discussion of the elementary principles of Christ, let us go on to perfection, not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God, 2 of the doctrine of baptisms, of laying on of hands, of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. 3 And this we will do if God permits. 4 For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted the heavenly gift, and have become partakers of the Holy Spirit, 5 and have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come, 6 if they fall away, to renew them again to repentance, since they crucify again for themselves the Son of God, and put Him to an open shame.

Receiving revelation is a matter of displacement and replacement.

Picture if you will a bowl full to the rim with copper pennies, so full that not even one more penny could be placed on the heap. Now picture someone coming to you with a bag full of silver coins. You must use the bowl to hold the new bag full of silver coins so what do you do? That is an interesting question. In order to contain within the bowl the more valuable silver coins you must first displace the less valuable pennies. You are that vessel of containment. There is coming a time where we must lay aside the less valuable in order to contain the precious. Sometimes this is as easy as a change in perspective.

II A NEW PERSPECTIVE

In which direction does the sun rise? And set? Is this true from our perspective? If you are like most people you would have answered that the sun rises in the east and sets in the west.

However, if we were to view our planet, let’s say several thousand miles above the earth, now with a higher, broader, wider and deeper perspective, does the sun even set at all? The answer of course is no, it doesn’t. There is an earthly understanding and an understanding from a higher perspective… the sun rising in the east setting in the west – or from a higher perspective, it never rises nor sets at all.

Colossians 3:1-2 1 If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. 2 Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.

Back as late as the 1600’s the Roman Catholic Church and indeed the rest of civilization believed that the earth was the center of the universe, and that the sun and the various planets revolved around the earth. Was this understanding a reality to them with their limited perspective? Could this be a prime example of an elementary teaching, something like a first principle? Where did that elementary knowledge have to go? It was displaced and replaced once they had a higher perspective.

In the 1542 Copernicus had published findings regarding heliocentric hypothesis (that the earth was not in the center of our galaxy but rather that the sun was at the center) and that the earth and the planets revolved around the sun.

Copernicus did not release this revelation until the time of his death. Can you guess why? There is mainstream speculation that he feared he would be killed by the church and ridiculed by his peers.

Did the Roman Catholic Church have part of the truth according to the information available to them at the time? The answer to this is yes. But there came a time when tradition had to give way to higher knowledge.

Why do we resist change? It has been said that back in the 18th and early19th century it took longer than 100 years for people to accept changes of this magnitude. Word was spread very slowly. With the advances in communication that we now have TV, Internet, etc., how long does it take to change an accepted mindset of a people?

III SYMBOLS AND TYPES

God provided to us a marvelous blueprint in the Old Testament. In it contains creation, the Garden of Eden, the flood, Kings, Queens, battles over land and property, wandering in the wilderness and eventually taking possession of the Promised Land albeit only after conquering the numerous and prolific “ites.”

Through these various scriptures God provides us with a physical framework for life. This stuff happened in physical terms. History was recorded for our benefit and learning so that through it we might grasp internal realities. For example, in OT times God was in a box called the arc of the covenant but in the NT God was in a people. God provided “seeing” examples so that we could grasp “unseen” realities.

Another example I just mentioned is the notorious “ites” in the Promised Land. These were various tribes that inhabited the land that God promised to the Jews and thus needed to be driven out and defeated in order to possess the land.

Now, seeing the internal reality of what this symbolized, their names (Hittites, Jebusites, etc.) all hold specific meaning and point to characteristics in the framework of the human mind such as fear, violence, etc. To fully possess our inheritance as children of God, all these “ites” need to be defeated in the mind in order to possess the “land” of our inheritance.

Now we see in physical history an invaluable account of what it means to “take every thought captive” a viable, perceivable picture of the human condition. We can look back on those historical battles described in detail in the OT and realize, hey, this is a picture of what it looks like inside of my mind – I have to subdue thinking that prevents me from inheriting the promises of God. WOW!

The “Promised Land” is the Promised Bride. It is the land of our mind or soul that longs to be wed to the groom. He is the lover of our soul.

IV  A FOND FAREWELL AND THE COMING OF CHRIST

With this in mind…Jesus: A time to go away:

John 16:7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.

It seems as though we must depart from our historical (physical) knowledge of Jesus so that we can grasp the mystery of Christ. The disciples had to let him go of Him as they currently knew Him. As Jesus departed from their physical presence, the comforter came to bring them peace in and through the process into the discovery of mysteries, the discovery of the Christ!

Is Jesus synonymous with Christ? Why is this differentiation important? I believe it is vital that we grasp that there is a big difference between Jesus and the pattern of the Christ that He modeled for us.

Let’s look at this scripture that describes the mystery of marriage.

Ephesians 5:22-33 Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord. 23 For the husband is head of the wife, as also Christ is head of the church; and He is the Savior of the body. 24 Therefore, just as the church is subject to Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in everything. 25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her, 26 that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, 27 that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish. 28 So husbands ought to love their own wives as their own bodies; he who loves his wife loves himself. 29 For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as the Lord does the church. 30 For we are members of His body, of His flesh and of His bones. 31 “For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.” 32 This is a great mystery, but I speak concerning Christ and the church. 33 Nevertheless let each one of you in particular so love his own wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband.

As you can see from verse 32, Paul was not necessarily addressing the human relationship between a married man and woman. What was he referring to? Let’s look at this intriguing scripture symbolically.

  • Who is the head of the church? Christ is. Church=called out ones – Called out from where?
  • Who is the savior of the body? Christ is. What does this mean to you?
  • Vs. 25 What process outlined in this verse is going to happen to our mind? It will be sanctified and cleansed by the washing of water by the word. This word is not the Bible. It is the Christ.
  • Vs. 31 What could “father and mother” mean symbolically? It could mean the egg and the sperm or we must forsake our physical birth and our traditional understanding of our life in the physical in favor of being born from above.
  • What does “joined to his wife” symbolize? There must be union between male and female… What does this “two shall become one flesh” look like?

Let me first say that when the word soul is mentioned in scripture there is a feminine noun used. When Spirit is mentioned there is a masculine noun used. Male=spirit, female=soul.

What is “Christ?” Christ=anointed=from first letter of Greek alphabet Christ is the Alpha to indicate that he is the beginning and the end and (as particle of union). Christ is what is formed in all men when the soul gives way to spirit. This mystical marriage takes place and life is conceived. This life is the Son of God, birthed from the womb of the woman (the submitted soul).

Could it be that Jesus, the human, was the Son of Man?

And when scripture refers to “Son of Man” is it referring to all those who allow the mind to rule the body? And who or what is the Son of God? I believe it is the birth of a spiritual hybrid that is conceived by a union between the mind of man and the Spirit of God.

This is the CHRIST.

Christ is the savior of the body.

And while we allow the mind to “be in charge” so to speak we are the “Son of man” and when we allow Spirit to rule (kingdom) we are the “Sons of God?”

There are two components to our being. Being is something that is able to inhabit a physical body. These two components are soul (mind) and Spirit. The soul component is the Son of Man or offspring of the fleshly, carnal man and the Spirit component is the offspring or Son of God.

Now, concerning the mind let me say, you are not your mind. The mind is a tool that has been given to you to reason, think, organize, etc. You are much greater than your mind. You are spirit first. The mind has temporarily hijacked your identity and has become your master. This is a principle that is referred to in scripture as Jezebel. She usurped the authority of the man, her husband. The mind makes a terrible master but a lovely servant or helpmate (wife) to the Spirit (husband). The individual must come away from identifying with the mind, humble itself, and take the form of a servant and be truly led by the Spirit – live, move and have its being in the Spirit.

Philippians 2:7 He emptied himself taking the form of a bondservant being made in the likeness of men

Christ is what Jesus modeled for us, a union between God and man or more specifically, the union or marriage between the soul of man and the Spirit of God. Once this occurs, the full measure of the stature of Christ is revealed in us as Sons of God.

Once this union takes place consummation is eminent (perfection) and the manifestation of the next dimension occurs. The Kingdom is now in full manifestation where there is no time lapse between thought and manifestation. Jesus had this marriage between His soul (“nevertheless not my will but thy will be done”) and between the Spirit of God that produced “the Christ.”  This is a very important truth to grasp.

Let’s look at Hebrews 6 again…

We must lay aside issues of repentance from dead works, FAITH TOWARD GOD, the doctrine of baptisms, the laying on of hands, the resurrection of the dead and of ETERNAL JUDGEMENT. Holy cow, there are going to be tongues wagging when we slay these religious “cows”!!!! Let’s look at these things we need to lay aside once again:

Repentance from dead works

Faith toward God – What does this mean to you??? I may have to write a whole other article on that!

Doctrine of baptisms

The laying on of hands

The resurrection of the dead

Eternal judgment – Oh yeah, this one has to be put aside!

There are five principle areas that we will experience once God grants permission to us go on to perfection – these principles noted are:

Enlightenment

Tasting of the heavenly gift – heavenly=a superimposition of time, place and order.

Partakers of the Holy Spirit

Tasted the good word of God

The Powers of the age to come

Years ago I was intrigued by these five things and was overwhelmed at what I found out about the word heavenly as in heavenly gift. A superimposition of time, place and order. I asked God what this meant and I immediately saw in my mind, Jesus Christ walking on water, feeding the five thousand, making a silver coin materialize in a fishes mouth, healing the severed ear of the roman soldier, etc. etc. and etc. Jesus Christ had command of the earthy elements and was able to command issues pertaining to time, place and the natural order of things (matter). This is truly a power of the age to come. These powers are not given to those who practice elementary principles. This is for those that go on to perfection. I want to be a partaker, don’t you?

V  THE BRIDEGROOM

Matthew 9:14-17

14 Then the disciples of John came to Him, saying, “Why do we and the Pharisees fast often, but Your disciples do not fast?” 15 And Jesus said to them, “Can the friends of the bridegroom mourn as long as the bridegroom is with them? But the days will come when the bridegroom will be taken…

Jesus was referring to Himself as the Bridegroom – have you wondered why He is not called the Groom? It is simply this; Jesus had both components within himself joined – the Bride (soul) and Groom (Spirit) and this union produced the kingdom age all around him so much that others were able to step into that realm and do the same miraculous works as He. But notice He said it would be taken from them, and it was.

1 Timothy 5:23 No longer drink only water, but use a little wine for your stomach’s sake and your frequent infirmities.

Decades after the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, Paul was noted saying to Timothy not to be healed from his many infirmities but to drink wine for his ailments. What happened to the supernatural dimension? The kingdom was no longer in full manifestation. The bridegroom “was taken” from them but a pattern of union between thought (mind and soul or left brain) with Spirit (or emotion, right brain) was left for us.

Right now the brain is separated into two hemispheres (represented by the tree of the knowledge of good and evil). I believe when union takes place between mind (soul) and spirit, the next dimension manifests. This dimension is called “the Kingdom.” Our earth is patterned in somewhat the same way – the western hemisphere mindset is generally rational, logical and reasoning and the eastern hemisphere is generally imaginative, spiritual and mystical.

There is a huge chasm of thought, doctrine and belief between the two hemispheres. The chasm in the natural separating the two halves of the brain is called the corpus callosum. It is called a “veil.” This veil that covers and separates the bride (soul) from the groom will be removed, along with the inability to use both halves of the brain simultaneously. There will be no separation, no duality. The way to the Father is patterned and that narrow way is CHRIST. The two shall become one. Remember in the Song of Solomon chapter 5 the bride’s veil is torn away by the watchmen as she searches for her beloved…

Right now when we think logically, or when we reason with our own human understanding, the left half of the brain is shown to have tremendous electrical activity, charges firing within the western hemisphere. If you have seen this on film, it looks like a lightning storm going on in our brain. If we are given a spiritual or imaginative picture to think about, the same electrical storm happens in the right hemisphere of the brain. The key is to get the mind and spirit to come into union. The bride (soul, logical, reasoning) part of our being must submit to the groom (Spirit of God) then we are no longer separate but joined as the “Bridegroom.”

They asked Jesus when the coming of “CHRIST” again would be and He answered them,

Matthew 24:27 For as the lightning comes from the east and flashes to the west, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.

Notice that the lightning originates from the east and flashes to the west – this shows that action originates from a spiritual position (east) rather than from a carnal one (west)!

The son of man comes to claim His position as a functioning Christ. His identity then is the Son of God.

What is Jesus referring to when He says to bind the “strongman?”

Matthew 12:29 Or how can one enter into the house of the strong [man,] and spoil his goods, except he first bind the strong [man]? And then he will spoil his house.

Mark 3:27 But no one can enter into the house of the strong [man], and spoil his goods, except he first bind the strong [man]; and then he will spoil his house.

Let’s look again at Mark 3…

Mark 3:25 And if a house be divided against itself, that house will not be able to stand. 26 And if Satan hath rise up against himself, and is divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end. 27 But no one can enter into the house of the strong [man], and spoil his goods, except he first bind the strong [man]; and then he will spoil his house.

Matthew 16:23 But He turned and said to Peter, “Get behind Me, Satan! You are an offense to Me, for you are not mindful of the things of God (Spirit), but the things of men (soul).

Isn’t is also interesting that a few verses before this one above Jesus was praising Peter for receiving knowledge from the Spirit – not revealed by flesh and blood and here he is rebuked for being mindful of the things of mere men (the flesh).

These are wonderful allegories of the human mind. It is currently divided against itself. We are like the contentious women whose husband would rather live on a rooftop rather than to be with her.

Proverbs 25:24 It is better to live in a corner of the roof than in a house shared with a contentious woman.

The woman (soul – mind) is contentious – let’s look at the definition:

Contentious: exhibiting an often perverse and wearisome tendency to quarrels and disputes

What an accurate depiction between our mind and its propensity to rule over the house! This Jezebel continues to usurp the authority of her husband! The mind continually challenges the word of truth delivered to us by the spirit! The serpent (the mind) challenged Eve (the soul) in Genesis when it said, Did God really say you will surely die….? A contentious woman indeed!

So, if the mind is symbolized as a “woman” in scripture, what do you think this scripture means?

1 Corinthians 14:34, 35 – 34 Let your women keep silent in the churches, for they are not permitted to speak; but they are to be submissive, as the law also says. 35 And if they want to learn something, let them ask their own husbands at home; for it is shameful for women to speak in church.

Let’s look at this symbolically: The woman is not allowed to speak in church – keep in mind this “church” is a heavenly domain where the soul is not permitted to speak. She is to go home and inquire of her “husband” (be led by the Spirit). Oh that we would grasp these precious truths and be forever set free. The pattern is set in physical marriage for us to grasp internal realities of the spirit!

VI THE END OF TRADITION AND RELIGION

Mark 7:8 You have let go of the commands of God and are holding on to the traditions of men.

Matthew 15:6b thus you nullify the word of God.

God requires that you lay down your poles of tradition to hear what He is saying today. The term “religious” may not necessarily be a positive term.  Remember Jesus bringing a stern rebuke to the religious order of the day.  Religion then adhered to traditions of Judaism when its application had passed its time of relevance.  Jesus brought a new order that did not nullify the law but rather fulfilled it.  There now was no relevant application for the old way of worship.

The term “religious spirit” provokes the thinking that this is some sort of demonic stronghold that can be dealt with somewhere “up there” through some sort of spiritual warfare prayer.  I think it is time to rethink this matter.  The religious spirit thrives within anyone who refuses to let go of religious traditions that have lost their relevance.

We must ask ourselves, what is it in me that I believe, practice or uphold past its appointed time?  The scripture says that we need to live up to what we attain – in other words, when we know better, we need to let go of what is no longer pertinent to our spiritual growth and good and migrate out of the old way of thinking.  For example there came a time when the brazen serpent on the pole that God had commanded to be fashioned was to be dismantled and rendered useless.  How do you think the people of God felt when the source of so much healing, comfort and confidence had to be destroyed?

What brazen serpents are you hanging on to?  What are you clinging to from the past move of God that brought you spiritual healing, comfort and growth that no longer carries the anointing of God upon it?  What are you religiously hanging on to that is void of the current fingerprint of God?

In closing – Who is Christ? Christ is not a surname for Jesus. Jesus modeled the principle of Christ. Christ is the pressing together of God and man. It is that simple. (This is what anointing means – to rub or press together!)  Glory!

Scriptures for you to ponder concerning the mind…

Romans 1:28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting;

Romans 7:23 But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.

Romans 8:7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be.  (It must submit!)

Romans 12:2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.  Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven…!

Luke 10:27 So he answered and said, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind…

1 Corinthians 2:16 For “who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct Him?” But we have the mind of Christ.

2 Corinthians 13:11 Finally, brethren, farewell. Become complete. Be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace will be with you

Galatians 5:10 I have confidence in you, in the Lord, that you will have no other mind…

Ephesians 2:3 among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others

Ephesians 4:17 This I say, therefore, and testify in the Lord, that you should no longer walk as the rest of the Gentiles walk, in the futility of their mind…

Ephesians 4:23 and be renewed in the spirit of your mind…

Philippians 1:27 Only let your conduct be worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of your affairs, that you stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel…

Philippians 2:2 fulfill my joy by being like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind

Philippians 2:3 Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself

Philippians 2:6 Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus

Philippians 3:19 whose end is destruction, whose god is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame–who set their mind on earthly things

Colossians 1:21 And you, who once were alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now He has reconciled…

Colossians 2:18 Let no one cheat you of your reward, taking delight in false humility and worship of angels, intruding into those things which he has not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind…

Colossians 3:2 Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth

2Timothy 1:7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind

Hebrews 8:10 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord: I will put My laws in their mind…

1Peter 1:13 Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ
