It is said of Solomon that he is the wisest man that ever lived. Early in his reign as King of Israel he had a vision at Gibeon, in which the Lord appeared to him and told him to ask what he would have. He confessed his weakness and said, “Give thy servant an understanding heart.” Because of his wise choice, his request was granted, and he was promised by the Lord that he should be the wisest of men and have great honor. Let us ponder a small selection of….

THE WISDOM OF SOLOMON

BY:  SADHU SUNAR SINGH

TRUE RICHES:

How much better to get wisdom than gold!

The Fruit of the Righteous is a Tree of Life.

For those purposing Peace there is Joy.

SELF CONTROL:

Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the Wellspring of Life.

Like a city whose walls are broken down is a man who lacks self-control.

The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.

TRUE FRIENDSHIP:

A word aptly spoken is like apples of gold in settings of silver.

If your enemy is hungry, give him bread to eat;

And if he is thirsty, give him water to drink.

Faithful are the wounds of a friend,

But the kisses of an enemy are deceitful.

As iron sharpens iron,

So one man sharpens another.

CONTENTMENT:

Better is a little with righteousness,

Than vast revenues without justice.

HUMILITY:

A man’s gift makes room for him.

CORRECTION:

The way of a fool is right in his own eyes,

But he who heeds counsel is wise.

For whom the Lord loves He corrects,

Just as a father the son in whom he delights.

CARNAL WISDOM:

There is a way that seems right to a man,

But its end is the way of death.

THE JOY OF A GOOD HEART:

A cheerful heart is good medicine,

but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.

DESTINY:

Many are the plans in a man’s heart,

but it is the LORD’s purpose that prevails.

SELF SATISFACTION:

All a man’s ways seem right to him,

but the LORD weighs the heart.

FAITH & TRUE WISDOM:

Trust in the Lord God with all your heart,

And lean not on your own understanding;

In all your ways acknowledge him,

And he shall direct your paths.

Commit to the LORD whatever you

do, and your plans will succeed.

The awe of the Lord God is the beginning of knowledge,

but fools despise wisdom and instruction.
