BLESSINGS of the SEASON

“Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among men with whom he is pleased!” Lk. 2 14
Remember when we were little kids and Christmas seemed to take forever to get here? The older I am, the quicker it comes, but there are some advantages of old age. I no longer do the things I used to think were necessary, like baking cookies and shopping for a gift for everyone. The Lord has downsized us financially, which gives me a wonderful excuse to avoid the malls which I really never have had any tolerance for. The grandchildren loved the cookies, but they live in California and we’re in Missouri. Shipping and handling takes the pleasure out of baking, so I skip that as well. I was going to skip Christmas cards, but the Lord gave me a poem, sort of, and so I caved in and used an Office Depot coupon to make a card.
That sounds a bit like Ebenezer Scrooge, but that’s not the issue here. The longer I walk with the Lord, the more I see that with Him, Christmas comes every day in some fashion. He cares about the smallest things in our lives and is there to help us with whatever troubles us. That alone gives me peace in this joyful season and every other one as well.
Whatever you do and wherever you go this Holiday time, may the peace of the Lord surround you, fill you and flow out of you.
