CIRCLING THE DRAIN

BY:  MARIBETH SCHLOBOHM

Too many lives lived

Circling the drain,

Clockwise, counter-clockwise,

It’s all the same.

The force of gravity weighing down,

No light to be found,

Drugs, prostitution, hate,

Never getting it straight.

Wasted lives poured down the spout

No way out,

Clinging to life like glue,

Without a clue.

What will it take?

Stop and meditate.

Only God’s love,

Can rise above.

Only God’s hope,

Can get folks off the dope,

Only God’s way,

Can lead to a brighter day.
