THE DAY OF THE LORD
BY: E. E. BROOKS
DAY OF THE LORD – DAY OF DARKNESS
ONE DAY = 1000 YEARS TO GOD
DAY OF THE LORD
The Day of the Lord is spoken of many times in the Bible. Read the scriptures below to get an idea of what the Great and Terrible Day of the Lord will be like. There will come a time when the Day of the Lord will be upon us, and the world as we know it will change in a big way. The Most High God will manifest his power to all the earth. Keep in mind that God has protection for his remnant during this great and terrible day.
Isa 13:9-11 Behold, the Day of the LORD cometh, cruel both with wrath and fierce anger, to lay the land desolate: and he shall destroy the sinners thereof out of it. 10 For the Stars of heaven and the constellations thereof shall not give their light: the Sun shall be Darkened in going forth, and the Moon shall not cause her light to shine. 11 And I will punish the world for their evil, and the wicked for their iniquity; and I will cause the arrogance of the proud to cease, and will lay low the haughtiness of the terrible. (KJV)
Joel 2:1-2, 10-11 Blow ye the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain: let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: for the Day of the LORD cometh, for it is nigh at hand; 2 A day of darkness and of gloominess, a day of clouds and of thick darkness, as the morning spread upon the mountains: a great people and a strong; there hath not been ever the like, neither shall be any more after it, even to the years of many generations… 10 The Earth Shall Quake before them; the heavens shall tremble: the Sun and the Moon shall be Dark, and the Stars shall withdraw their shining: 11 And the LORD shall utter his voice before his army: for his camp is very great: for he is strong that executeth his word: for The Day of the LORD is Great and Very Terrible; and who can abide it? (KJV)
Joel 2:30-32 And I will shew wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and fire, and Pillars of Smoke. 31 The Sun shall be turned into Darkness, and the Moon into Blood, before The Great and the Terrible Day of the LORD come. 32 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the LORD shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the LORD hath said, and in the remnant whom the LORD shall call.
Joel 3:14-16 Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision: for the day of the LORD is near in the valley of decision. 15 The Sun and the Moon shall be Darkened, and the Stars shall withdraw their shining. 16 The LORD also shall roar out of Zion, and utter his voice from Jerusalem; and the heavens and the Earth shall Shake: but the LORD will be the hope of his people, and the strength of the children of Israel. (KJV)
Zeph 1:14-15 The Great Day of the LORD is near, it is near, and hasteth greatly, even the voice of the Day of the LORD: the mighty man shall cry there bitterly. 15 That day is a Day of Wrath, a Day of Trouble and Distress, a Day of Wasteness and Desolation, a Day of Darkness and Gloominess, a Day of Clouds and Thick Darkness, (KJV)
Matt 24:29 Immediately After the Tribulation of those days shall the Sun be Darkened, and the Moon shall not give her light, and the Stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: (KJV)
Acts 2:19-21 And I will shew wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and Vapor of Smoke: 20 The Sun shall be turned into Darkness, and the Moon into Blood, before that Great and Notable Day of the Lord come: 21 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. (KJV)
Rev 6:12-17, 7:2-3 And I beheld when he had opened the Sixth seal, and, lo, there was a Great Earthquake; and the Sun became Black as sackcloth of hair, and the Moon became as Blood; 13 And the Stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind… 16 And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the Wrath of the Lamb: 17 For The Great Day of His Wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand? 2 And I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God: and he cried with a loud voice to the four angels, to whom it was given to hurt the earth and the sea, 3 Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, TILL we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads. (KJV)
Amos 5:18-20 Woe unto you that desire the Day of the LORD! To what end is it for you? the Day of the LORD is darkness, and not light. 19 As if a man did flee from a lion, and a bear met him; or went into the house, and leaned his hand on the wall, and a serpent bit him. 20 Shall not the Day of the LORD be darkness, and not light? Is it not very dark, and no brightness in it? (KJV)
There are some recurring phrases that describe the Day of the Lord:
The Sun will be Darkened
Moon turns to Blood
Stars Fall from Heaven
This time is a scary time for sure. Never has there been a day like this one. The church does not want to go through this time of wrath, so they adopted the rapture doctrine, which began in 1830, by Margaret MacDonald. This doctrine tells people they will be removed from the earth during the time of God’s wrath. I held to this erroneous doctrine for nearly 20 years, until God opened my eyes to see that Christians will go through the tribulation and the day of the Lord’s wrath. Realizing the difference between tribulation and wrath helps to know what to expect. The remnant will not be hurt by God’s wrath.
1Thes 5:9 For God hath NOT Appointed Us To Wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, (KJV)
In fact our tribulation is over when the Day of the Lord comes. The sun is darkened AFTER AFTER AFTER the Tribulation. When we see the Great and Terrible Day of the Lord come then we know that our Tribulation is over and done with.
Matt 24:29 Immediately AFTER THE TRIBULATION of those days shall the Sun be darkened, and the Moon shall not give her light, and the Stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:
Acts 14:22 we must through Much Tribulation enter into the Kingdom of God. (KJV)
John 16:33 (Jesus) In the world Ye Shall Have Tribulation… (KJV)
Tribulation is for Christians and their perfecting. Tribulations are the trials and testing we daily encounter. Tribulation works patience in us and is not intended to punish anyone. God brings tribulations to help us. The teacher does not give a test to punish his students, but rather help them. God’s wrath is reserved for the Babylonian systems that rule the world today. There are those who think they can own and rule the world, and even bring in an antichrist system of world government. God will take the earth and set up his Kingdom with a righteous government, ruled by Jesus and the Manifested Sons of God. God protected Meshach, Shadrach and Abednego in the fiery furnace. The Most High God can and will protect us in the Day of the Lord!
Rev 7:14 These are they, which came out of Great Tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. (KJV)
DAY OF THE LORD = DAY OF DARKNESS
The Bible tells us that a day begins on one evening and ends the following evening. Notice that it’s the evening, which starts a day, and the morning, which completes a day. The day begins with the darkness of evening, so also is the Day of the Lord. It also is a day of darkness at first then the light comes later.
Genesis 1:5 And the evening and the morning were the first day. (KJV)
Genesis 1:8 And the evening and the morning were the second day. (KJV)
Genesis 1:13 And the evening and the morning were the third day. (KJV)
Genesis 1:19 And the evening and the morning were the fourth day. (KJV)
Genesis 1:23 And the evening and the morning were the fifth day. (KJV)
Genesis 1:31 And the evening and the morning were the sixth day. (KJV)
ONE DAY = 1000 YEARS TO GOD
God made man on the 6th day. A day to the Lord is as a 1,000 years. It has been 6,000 years, or 6 days, since Adam was created. Will God manifest his Sons during the 6th day? I believe we are at the dawning of the Day of the Lord! Is it a coincidence that the opening of the 6th Seal describes the Great and Terrible Day of the Lord?
Rev 6:12-13 And I beheld when he had opened the SIXTH Seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the Sun became Black as sackcloth of hair, and the Moon became as Blood; 13 And the Stars of Heaven Fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind. (KJV)
We are Spirit, Soul and Body. We are a spirit, we have a soul, and we live in a body. The spirit of man is eternal, and can never die, unlike the soul and body. Both the soul and body can be destroyed and lost. Paul speaks of a person who was committing incest with his mother. Paul says that this person’s flesh must be destroyed, so that his spirit would be saved in the Day of the Lord! Read it for yourself:
1Cor 5:1, 5 It is reported commonly that there is fornication among you, and such fornication as is not so much as named among the Gentiles, that one should have his father’s wife… 5 To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the Flesh, that the Spirit may be Saved in the Day of the Lord Jesus. (KJV)
1Cor 5: 5 (NIV) …hand this man over to Satan, so that the Sinful Nature may be destroyed and his Spirit Saved on the Day of the Lord.
The Day of the Lord involves the destruction of flesh; the carnal bodies and the carnal minds, but not spirits! This will remove all evil from the earth, so that the kingdom can be established in righteousness. Yes, God will destroy souls and bodies, but he always saves the spirit! Therein is the mercy that endures forever. Everyone’s spirit will be saved, but not all souls and bodies. The manifested Sons of God will be saved in Spirit, Soul AND Body! God is will save the flesh of his Sons.
Mat 24:21-22 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. 22 And except those days should be shortened, there should no Flesh be saved: but for the elect’s sake those days shall be shortened. (KJV)
The elect will keep their Flesh/Body, and they will also have received the salvation of their Soul/Mind. They will have the Mind of Christ! They will receive the end of their faith, which is the salvation of the soul/mind.
1Pet 1:9 Receiving the end of your faith, even the Salvation of your Souls. (KJV)
The church thinks that when they accept Jesus in their heart/spirit, they have received the end of their faith. Most do not even see the difference between spirit and soul, and never even try to put on the mind of Christ. Paul prayed that your whole spirit, soul and body be saved!
1Thes 5:23 I pray God your whole Spirit And Soul And Body Be Preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. (KJV)
Phil 2:5 Let this Mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: (KJV)
There will be no sinful nature in the kingdom, and it must be destroyed. There will be no carnal minds during the 1000 years of peace. Peace and righteousness will reign in the kingdom and there will be no selfish fleshly nature there. God saves the spirit, but he must destroy the carnal soul and body.
Mat 10:28 And fear not them, which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him, which is able to destroy both Soul and Body in hell (grave).
1Cor 15:51 I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep (die!), but we shall all be changed, (KJV)
There will be some who do not have their soul and body destroyed! They will keep all 3, spirit, soul & body. God owns your spirit and your body! He does not want your carnal soul/mind it must be replaced. God sends us tribulation to remove the tares within our minds… not to punish us. Each tribulation is a test for us to pass. If we pass, then we go on to the next test. If we fail, then we take the same test over-and-over until we learn our lesson! Overcomers will be transformed (metamorphosed) in body, by renewing their minds.
Rom 12:1-2 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your Bodies a Living Sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye Transformed (in Body) by the renewing of your Mind… (KJV)
God is interested in saving the flesh or body, which he created. He created it for a purpose, which will come to fruition during the Day of the Lord!
1Cor 6:19-20 What? Know ye not that your Body is the temple of the Holy Ghost, which is in you, which ye have of God, and Ye are Not Your Own? 20 For ye are Bought With a Price: therefore glorify God in your Body, and in your Spirit, which are God’s. (KJV)
God is a merciful God, and his mercy endures forever. Even the incestuous man would be saved in spirit, though his body and soul had to be destroyed or annihilated. All spirits will be saved, but all will receive different rewards.
1Cor 15:22-23 For as in Adam all die, even so In Christ shall ALL be made alive. 23 But every man in his own order… (KJV)
1Tim 4:10 … we trust in the living God, who is the Savior of All Men, specially of those that believe. (KJV)
In order to save our soul/mind, we must put on the mind of Christ, which cannot be destroyed. The renewing of your soul/mind will result in a transformation in your body. There are 30 – 60 & 100 fold Christians. Those who receive the 100-fold reward or glory will have their soul/mind replaced by the engrafted word of God.
James 1:21 …receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to Save Your Souls. (KJV)
Jesus has a glorified physical body. His flesh has also been saved or glorified. The grave was empty, and Jesus still has the same body he was born with. Now his body shines like the sun! The Sons of God will also receive the same inheritance from the Father. The more of the mind of Christ we put on, the greater our glory or reward! One star differs from another in glory!
1Cor 15:40-42 There are also Celestial Bodies, and Bodies Terrestrial: but the glory of the celestial is one, and the glory of the terrestrial is another. 41 There is one Glory of the Sun, and another Glory of the Moon, and another Glory of the Stars: for one star differeth from another star in Glory. 42 So also is the resurrection of the dead… (KJV)
2 Types of Bodies
Celestial Body = Heavenly Body (like angels have)
Terrestrial Body = Earthly Body (like Jesus has
Those who loose their earthly body, will receive a spiritual one. Those who keep their earthly bodies (like Jesus did) will receive the Glory of the Sun, or a glorified earthly body. There are 30 – 60 and 100 fold rewards of Glory. Jesus received the 100 fold Glory of the Father!
Mat 17:2 And (Jesus) was transfigured before them: and His Face did Shine as the Sun, and his raiment was white as the light. (KJV)
Mat 13:43 Then shall The Righteous Shine Forth as the Sun in the kingdom of their Father. Who hath ears to hear, let him hear. (KJV)
The Sons of God are waiting for the redemption of their Body! They will shine like the sun, with the Glory of the Father!
Rom 8:19, 23 For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the Manifestation of the Sons of God… 23 And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the Redemption of our Body. (KJV)
DAY OF THE LORD
Glory of the Sun
Glory of the Moon
Stars Fall From Heaven
Glory of the Stars
Sons of Darkness
Sons of Light
1Thes 5:4-5 But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that That Day should overtake you as a thief. 5 Ye are all the Children of Light, and the Children of the Day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness. (KJV)
Ex 16:7 And in the Morning, then ye shall see the Glory of the LORD (KJV)
Isa 58:8 Then shall Thy Light break forth as the Morning, and thine health shall spring forth speedily: and thy righteousness shall go before thee; the Glory of the LORD shall be thy reward. (KJV)
Only those who are prepared for the darkness will have enough oil to make it till morning! Remember the parable of the 10 Virgins (Christians), 5 were wise and 5 were foolish. That implies that half of all Christians are foolish, when it comes to preparation for the Day of the Lord.
Mat 25:1-13 “…the Kingdom of Heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. 2 Five of them were foolish and five were wise. 3 The foolish ones took their lamps but did not take any oil with them. 4 The wise, however, took oil in jars along with their lamps. 5 The bridegroom was a long time in coming, and they all became drowsy and fell asleep. 6 “At midnight the cry rang out: `Here’s the bridegroom! Come out to meet him!’ 7 “Then all the virgins woke up and trimmed their lamps. 8 The foolish ones said to the wise, `Give us some of your oil; our lamps are going out.’ 9 “`No,’ they replied, `there may not be enough for both us and you. Instead, go to those who sell oil and buy some for yourselves.’ 10 “But while they were on their way to buy the oil, the bridegroom arrived. The virgins who were ready went in with him to the wedding banquet. And the door was shut. 11 “Later the others also came. `Sir! Sir!’ they said. `Open the door for us!’ 12 “But he replied, `I tell you the truth, I don’t know you.’ 13 “Therefore keep watch, because you do not know the day or the hour. (NIV)
The 5 wise virgins had the Mind of Christ to keep their lamps lit through the darkness. They were prepared for the Great and Terrible Day of the Lord. They were ready for the fullness of the feast of Tabernacles, and ready to enter their booth.
Isa 26:20 Come, my people, enter thou into thy chambers, and shut thy doors about thee: hide thyself as it were for a little moment, until the indignation be overpast.
The Day of the Lord is a day of wrath. It starts out with darkness, but ends up with the light! The Kingdom will have the light of the Glory of God.
Rev 21:23 And the city had No Need of the Sun, neither of the Moon, to shine in it: for the Glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof. (KJV)
Rev 22:5 And there shall be No Night there; and they need no candle, neither Light of the Sun; for the Lord God giveth them Light: and they shall reign forever and ever.
Isa 60:1-2 Arise, Shine; for Thy Light is Come, and The Glory of the LORD Is Risen Upon Thee. 2 For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the LORD shall arise upon thee, and His Glory Shall Be Seen Upon Thee.
Num 14:21 … all the Earth shall be filled with the Glory of the LORD. (KJV)
John 12:36 While ye have light, believe in the light, that ye may be the Children of Light.
Eph 5:8 For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as Children of Light: (KJV)
1Thes 5:5 Ye are all the Children of Light, and the Children of the Day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness. (KJV)
