IDENTITY IS EVERYTHING
BY: MAX ENDE
Now, you know the truth of why you are who you are. Now let us move on to perfection. Again I say that what I am about to tell you is spiritually discerned and cannot be understood by the carnal mind. Truth cannot be understood by the mind of Adam, only believed and relied upon by the mind of Christ. If you are Christ’s then you will hear His voice and you will follow Him into the heavenly realm where he and you are now seated.
How can a righteous God live in sinful man? The simple answer is He doesn’t. Paul, the Apostle to the Gentiles who wrote most of the New Testament letters, states over and over again about the righteousness of the believer through believing God.
GAL 3:6 Consider Abraham: “He believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness.” 7] Understand, then, that those who believe are children of Abraham. 8] The Scripture foresaw that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, and announced the gospel in advance to Abraham: “All nations will be blessed through you.” 9] So those who have faith are blessed along with Abraham, the man of faith.
Paul noted that God imparted a righteousness to Abraham that was not part of the Mosaic Law. This righteousness was put in us by faith in the finished work of Christ. Now we have faith in the living Word of God that came to us in the form of Jesus the anointed. Now, not only do we have a righteousness imparted because of faith, we are the righteousness of God in Christ that lives in us and we in Him. You must understand this, believer; you cannot separate the Christ in us and the Christ we live in. It is the same thing.
Christ is sinless. God is Life and therefore is the Life in the sinless Christ (anointing) that He Himself provides through the cross (death of the old man).
GEN 22:6 Abraham took the wood for the burnt offering and placed it on his son Isaac, and he himself carried the fire and the knife. As the two of them went on together, 7] Isaac spoke up and said to his father Abraham, “Father?”
“Yes, my son?” Abraham replied.
“The fire and wood are here,” Isaac said, “but where is the lamb for the burnt offering?”
GEN 22:8 Abraham answered, “God himself will provide the lamb for the burnt offering, my son.” And the two of them went on together.
God Himself offered up His only Son in order to make all of us righteous.
GAL 3:10 All who rely on observing the law are under a curse, for it is written: “Cursed is everyone who does not continue to do everything written in the Book of the Law.” 11] Clearly no one is justified before God by the law, because, “The righteous will live by faith.” 12] The law is not based on faith; on the contrary, “The man who does these things will live by them.” 13] Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: “Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree.” 14] He redeemed us in order that the blessing given to Abraham might come to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Spirit.
GAL 3:15 Brothers, let me take an example from everyday life. Just as no one can set aside or add to a human covenant that has been duly established, so it is in this case. 16] The promises were spoken to Abraham and to his seed. The Scripture does not say “and to seeds,” meaning many people, but “and to your seed,” meaning one person, who is Christ. 17] What I mean is this: The law, introduced 430 years later, does not set aside the covenant previously established by God and thus do away with the promise. 18] For if the inheritance depends on the law, then it no longer depends on a promise; but God in his grace gave it to Abraham through a promise.
Only one person possesses the promise, Christ. By this passage we see that even though the Law was introduced later, it did not nullify the first covenant made to Abraham and His seed. Abraham’s seed was not Isaac as some suppose. The Seed came through Isaac. And the Seed was not the flesh body of Jesus as most suppose. No, the Seed is Christ and Christ brought forth Jesus. Make no mistake, Jesus was and is the Christ but His flesh died on the cross to bring forth the Son of God in the body of the New Creation.
Jesus was the promised Seed. The Seed (Christ) Led Jesus to the cross to die. Why? To, at last kill Adam. Why? So that God could reconcile His (Sons) Seed to Himself. God finished His work on the cross of Calvary and put an end to sin by killing the body of death in Jesus Christ. Finally the whole world is now reconciled to God through the Grace that Christ provides through the cross. The key is now and has always been Grace.
To understand the Grace of God you need to understand who you are in Him. You may have heard of the grace of God but do you know what it truly means to you and everyone you know? Paul, the Apostle to the Gentiles, dedicated himself to the propagation of the Grace of God that he knew in himself. He wrote the letter to the Ephesians with a clear understanding and personal knowledge of the grace of God. Let’s read a portion of this letter.
EPH 1:3-10 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. 4] For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love 5] he predestined us to be adopted as his sons through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will – 6] to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves. 7] In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace 8] that he lavished on us with all wisdom and understanding. 9] And he made known to us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ, 10] to be put into effect when the times will have reached their fulfillment to bring all things in heaven and on earth together under one head, even Christ.
First, you are an adopted Son of God. But this adoption is not the kind of adoption that you and I know today. Today, adoption means that a child who has different parents is taken into another family and given their name. Child of God you must know and understand that this is NOT what God considers adoption. The adoption Paul talks about in this passage is more akin to a bar mitzvah. A bar mitzvah is a ceremony where a son takes his place in the family. It is more of a confirmation of authority of the family name.
According to Paul, we were chosen in Him before the foundation of the world. God has always considered us His children, so we are not strangers (children born apart from the family) to Him. We are also chosen to be holy and blameless in His sight. Wow… HOLY AND BLAMELESS IN HIS SIGHT! Let me ask you a stupid question. Are you holy and blameless? Do you know what makes this question stupid? If you answered no, you make God a liar. Let me say this again, if you answered no, you make God a liar.
You might be thinking, well I am not holy now, but when I get to heaven I’ll be holy then. Why would you think that? If you’re not holy now you will never be holy. Are you two different people? Do you think that there is a bad you and a good you? Do you think the bad you dies and the good you goes to Heaven? Sounds silly doesn’t it? It is. There is only one you. And the one you must be Holy and Blameless in God’s sight…and you are.
You see, if you believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross to save you, you are a Son of God and you are NOW holy and blameless in His sight. How? By the Grace of God.
Grace is a state of being. It is a fact of life for the Sons of God. Without Grace, we would be doomed. How does this Grace work and how is it applied? To put it as simply as possible…
·God knows we sinned.
·God loves us anyway.
·He sent His anointed (sinless Christ) Son to die the acceptable death and kill the sinful man (in the body of sin).
·Christ emptied His blood (the death) and God’s Law was satisfied.
·God then raised His sinless Christ from the dead and took Him to Himself and seated Him at His right hand; the accepted place of honor and authority.
·Now, the Spirit of God calls all men to believe in what He did for all of them. It is the only acceptable way.
When we believe that this is truth we are immediately killed by faith in His death. According to Paul we are now presently crucified with Christ. That’s right, killed dead. The Holy Spirit that immediately indwells us and takes up residency in our mortal (dead) body then just as quickly raises us from the dead. This is a great Mystery. We are in a state of being. This state of being is called Grace.
In Grace there is no penalty for sin. There is no penalty because we are dead and a dead man cannot be held accountable for anything.
“But I am alive.” You say. You are and yet you aren’t.
Romans 8:11 And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit, who lives in you.
Galatians 2:20 I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
Paul says that the only reason you are alive is because Christ is alive in you and His resurrection life gives life to your mortal (dead) body. Grace says you are living His life so to speak. Also, the Law does not recognize a resurrected man. The Law only recognizes one death. You can only die once legally. And since God deems you crucified with Christ, He cannot hold you accountable for sin…ever. He has cast your sin as far from you as the east is from the west. Christ paid the penalty for sin (the one and only penalty) and so there are no more penalties if you enter into His death.
So even if you sin God’s Grace is there and the provision of the cross nullifies it. What the traditional church is forgetting is that the power of sin is BROKEN. You see? If the penalty is satisfied, there is NO MORE PENALTY. Sin has no more power because the power of PENALTY is gone. The only reason that believers think that sin is still a power in them is because they give it power.
Think about it, what is the power behind laws? Penalties. Without penalties the law is useless. The law is not useless…it is Holy and righteous. Also the Law is also useless if there are no lawbreakers. What is the use of the Law if there is no one to break it? You see a catch 22 forming? This is exactly what Paul preaches concerning the Law. There is a formula at work here. And Satan has the formula refined to an art. Where there is Law you must have penalties and you must have lawbreakers. This is the Fruit of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. There is no escape from it short of death (the ultimate penalty). This is the victory of the cross. A dead man is immune to the Law. And since he is immune to the law, the law has no power over Him. And if there is no power through the Law then all the power is taken away from the entire formula. In other words sin is powerless.
GAL 3:29 If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.
This victory over sin is only for the Son of God. After all it was He who went to the cross and won that victory. Make no mistake, remember the seed? There is only one seed. Not many. This is the Gospel people. You are the Seed of promise. You are the seed of Abraham. You went to the cross. You died. You now have victory over sin and the power behind sin…death.
Now throw away everything you have been told concerning the creation and understand the truth. Adam was the very image of the invisible God. God formed the man (Adam) from the dust of the earth and put His (God) Life in it. This is how God works. God using seed and earth; God’s Life (Seed) put into the earth (Adam). The purpose was to grow God in the Earth.
Understand that you cannot separate seed from the fruit. In other words, the seed of an apple is an apple. It is an apple in seed form. If you put the seed in the ground and you water it, it will grow into an apple tree and produce apples. This is how God works. He planted His seed in the Earth (Adam).
Adam bore God’s form when he was created. God did not make a pet for Himself in the Garden. He created a form of Himself. The invisible God made a visible and tangible form for that which had no form and gave that form moving life. But the life of the form is a form of life. It was tested by the serpent and found to be no life at all. There is no dominion or power or authority without identity. Adam did not and does not possess God’s identity. Adam was merely a form of life. The Father withheld His identity (Life of the Son) and reserved it for His Son who would come in the form Adam. You see Adam is not the son of God. Adam is a form for the Son of God. He (Jesus) came later. Understand that Adams purpose was not to fill the earth with Adams, but to be the form for the Son of God.
HEB 10:5 Therefore, when Christ came into the world, he said: “Sacrifice and offering you did not desire, but a body you prepared for me; “
Jesus was born the seed of the Woman, not the seed of Adam the man. Mary was a virgin. She carried the seed that was generated by the Word of God delivered by an Angel. Jesus was born by the will of God. We were all born by the will of man (Adam). We had an identity of the man Adam gave us. Jesus has the identity God gave Him. God named Jesus. Our parents named us according to the flesh (identity). Jesus bore the name of God through Adam…we bear the name of our perceived Father Adam.
But you say that you are the son of Adam too. Well said, you are the son of Adam according to the flesh (identity). There is no difference between you and Jesus according to the flesh body. However, where is Jesus’ flesh? I seem to remember it hanging on a cursed tree.
Then you might say, yes but He had no sin. Well said, He knew no sin because of one thing and only one thing. Jesus knew exactly who He was. He knew exactly who His father was and that is how he knew no sin. You see, identity is the key to everything. It is not what you do; it’s who you are.
MT 4:1 Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the desert to be tempted by the devil. 2] After fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry. 3] The tempter came to him and said, “If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.”
MT 4:4 Jesus answered, “It is written: `Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’ “
MT 4:5 Then the devil took him to the holy city and had him stand on the highest point of the temple. 6] “If you are the Son of God,” he said, “throw yourself down. For it is written: ” `He will command his angels concerning you, and they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.’ ”
MT 4:7 Jesus answered him, “It is also written: ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.’ “
MT 4:8 Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor. 9] “All this I will give you,” he said, “if you will bow down and worship me.”
MT 4:10 Jesus said to him, “Away from me, Satan! For it is written: `Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.’ ”
MT 4:11 Then the devil left him, and angels came and attended him.
Now know and understand that the traditional Church has misunderstood this entire confrontation because the church has been blinded into believing lies born out of ignorance through bondage to the Law. This confrontation is the exact same confrontation that The Woman we know as Eve found herself in. Look at what Satan asks Jesus.
“If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.”
“If you are the Son of God,” he said, “throw yourself down.
“All this I will give you,” he said, “if you will bow down and worship me.”
In other words… If you are the Son of God… then prove it. Jesus overcame what the Woman could not. He overcame Satan through His identity with God. Satan presents a very weak argument… ‘If you are the Son of God’… Jesus IS the Son of God and He knows it and has no obligation to prove it or flaunt it. If you are a thing, what makes you think you have to prove it? Are you a man? What do you need to do to prove it? Nothing!
Satan went after Christ’s identity. Why? Because that is where the authority is. God identity. The authority over sin… the authority over death… the authority to subdue the Earth is in Christ. Christ is now the eternal form for God identity.
By contrast watch what happened to the Woman in the Garden…
GEN 3:2 The woman said to the serpent, “We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden, 3] but God did say, `You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.’ ”
GEN 3:4 “You will not surely die,” the serpent said to the woman. 5] “For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”
GEN 3:6 When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it. 7] Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves.
Satan challenged the Woman’s understanding of the Word of God, you see… the Woman came out of Adam and she had the same form in her as He did. She had Adam’s mind and understanding. She was and is an exact representation of the image of the invisible God but she had no God identity. Why? Because she is flesh of Adam’s flesh and bone of Adam’s bone and the Spirit is not flesh and bone. Also she lived the same life Adam lived. This meant that she bore the image of God in Her just as Adam did. Adam and the Woman were the same person (one flesh… one form).
What they lacked was identity with God. They were not the Sons of God. The reference in Luke Chapter 3 where he is called the Son of God is a bad translation. In fact, according to Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance there is no reference whatsoever that Adam is the Son of God. Adam was created in the image and likeness of God. An image and a likeness is no more than a photograph or a statue. It may look like the original (living) person, but it not real. It is just an image.
She did not need to gain an identity by wisdom from an outside source (the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil) because it was Gods purpose to manifest Christ within them through the Spirit. The Serpent deceived her into believing something that WAS NOT TRUE. The lie is that Wisdom comes by way of knowledge. This is an absolute lie. Wisdom does not come by way of knowledge (observation). It comes by way of identity with God. Wisdom is not a perfect set of proverbs set in order. Wisdom is a person and the person is Christ. You are not made wise by what you know…but by who you are in Him. Identity is everything.
What happened next is very revealing. After Adam ate the fruit, BOTH their eyes were opened. What? Were they blind? No. They did not use their eyes to see before they ate the fruit. They had no need for them prior to eating the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. Don’t misunderstand me. They used their eyes but they were the eyes of (spiritual) understanding. They were the eyes of God. They never saw anything but God until they saw the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil.
The eyes they found themselves looking through (flesh eyes) after eating the fruit only saw the self-image not the image of God. When they saw the self-image, they realized they were naked. You see, before they ate the fruit they walked by faith and not by sight. Now, the Man had another seed in Him. Another life that was no life at all. He received a mind devoid of God (identity). He could only believe what he saw. And what he saw was not God.
Now Adam (the man) heard the Spirit of God walking in the Garden but He could not ‘see’ Him with his eyes. His eyes could only see his self and He found himself naked and ashamed. The man hid from God. Adam’s perceived separation from God had begun.
Adam’s mind is now enmity with God. It cannot please God nor can it understand God at all. Adam immediately became dependent upon his mind and senses for information concerning knowledge and wisdom. He lost his God Life (image) and received Blood life instead. The void in Adam’s mind left by the loss of God image was unbearable. Adam the man began to think in terms of the ‘out there’ God. Heaven was no longer a reality for Him. Heaven was something to attain to instead of living in. Adam’s decent into madness began.
Now, remember the lesson of the seed… the seed and the fruit are the same thing. The fruit of the tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil made Adam and Eve creatures of good and evil. Now Adam can only produce evil, why? Because he has no identity with God and only God is good.
MK 10:18 “Why do you call me good?” Jesus answered. “No one is good except God alone.
It is important to understand that this separation was only in Adam’s mind. God did not hide Himself from Adam; the man hid himself from God. God did not cease from seeking His Son in the form of Adam. Adam (the man) ceased from seeking God. God’s desire is to reconcile His Son to Himself. Adam (the man) does not seek reconciliation. Adam has eyes but is blind. Without faith Adam cannot see God. All of this is only in the mind of Adam. Only Adam’s mind is separated from God. God never abandoned His purpose and plan. To abandon Adam (his creation) would be to abandon Himself.
God’s provision for the Sons of God (the Cross) was made BEFORE Adam was formed in the dust. Let me say this again… The provision of the Lamb of God was made BEFORE Adam (the man) ever sinned, before Adam was formed, BEFORE the fall.
Therefore the power of sin is a lie. The power of God is the only true power in all of creation. The truth is that Adam the man died on the cross of Calvary. Now the Son of God, the New creation in Christ, is raised from the bondage to decay. The power of sin is death. There is no more death. Christ Jesus died the death ONCE for ALL. If Adam the man sinned and all sinned then when Christ died, ALL DIED. There is NO MORE SIN because there is NO MORE DEATH. This is the true Gospel. This is the truth.
Listen carefully. Your mind is screaming that you sin. Your mind is screaming that death is real. Your mind is screaming that this cannot be true. Remember, your mind is enmity with God. Your mind, Adam’s mind cannot receive this. Count that mind dead. Flesh and Blood cannot reveal the truth to you. Only the Father can. If you do believe this because the Word of God is speaking to you, you are the Son of God. He is revealing Himself IN YOU. God is not ‘out there’ looking for you. He is in you revealing Himself in you. You are in Him and He is in you. You are the same person you have the same identity. You are the ONE SEED. God cannot sin. Sin is only in the mind of Adam and he is dead. You are alive. Wake up and remember who you are. The whole world is waiting for you.
Now that is good news to you and me. That is Grace.
It is not a license to sin. This is the end of sin.
