INWORKING of the WORD
BY: RAY PRINZING
“For this cause also we thank God without ceasing, because, when ye received the Word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the Word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.” (1 Thess. 2:13)
Thank God for those who receive the message quickened by the Spirit, not as a doctrine of man, but as the Word of God, so that it might work in them. If it is only a doctrine that some man teaches, it will not work in you of His life. But if, while you are hearing the message, the Spirit of God dwelling within witnesses to your heart that this is indeed the truth, and you receive it, it will work in you of His will and purpose. How we all need the SPIRIT OF TRUTH TO DWELL IN US that we might recognize and know the truth when we hear it.
“For the Word of God is quick, and powerful.” (Heb. 4:12) The Word of God is INWORKING, it energizes, releasing a force which transforms us. The Word of God will cleanse you. “Cleansed with the washing of water by the Word.” (Eph. 5:26). The Word of God will free you. “For ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” (John 8:32) On an on could go the listing of the INWORKING WORD.
For those who will not receive His Word, “because they received not the love of truth, that they might be saved, for this cause God shall send them a strong (an inworking) delusion, they should believe a lie.” (2 Thes. 2:10-11) Error is imply a truth perverted, or a half-truth. It has enough truth in it to attract those who do not want God’s pure truth, but it is also so perverted that it leads them astray so that they miss the mark. They wander in the quagmire of confusion until they weary themselves to frustration. Yet all this God worketh, and in due time “they also that erred in spirit shall come to understanding, and they that murmured shall learn doctrine.” (Isa. 29:24)
His blessed Word, so powerful in those whom its truth receive,
Inworking, yes, to set men free, upgirding those who believe.
