JUST WHO IS JESUS?
BY: LLOYD ELLEFSON - JUNE 6, 2006
Jesus was speaking to some Jews and declared this: “Abraham saw and rejoiced in my day.” Jn. 8:58 truly I say unto you; before Abraham was - I am. Abraham was prior to Jerusalem, Israel, the law and the prophets. Just who was this Jesus in that day? Was he not born of Mary? Jesus referred to himself many times as the son of man. Jn. 3:13 “No man has ascended into heaven, but he who descended from heaven - the son of man. Was he a man in heaven?” vs. 17 God sent his son into the world. Just what have we here? Jn. 17:5 Father now glorify me with the glory I had in thine own presence, with the glory I had with thee before the world was.
Was Jesus there before the world began? What of his relationship with Mary? How did he have Glory at that time? When on earth he glorified the father. The prophets knew him not. 1 Pet. 1:11 They inquired what person or time was indicated by the spirit of Christ in them, when they spoke of the glory and the suffering of the Messiah. Now the spirit of Christ was operating in them and he was not yet Jesus? Rev. 2:16
I Jesus have sent my messenger to you with this testimony. I am the root and the offspring of David, the bright and morning star. Who is this Jesus? How is he the root and the offspring and the morning star of David who was dead long before Jesus is born? Matt.Ch.16 Jesus asked his disciples - “Who do men say that I, the son of man is?” Vs.14 Some say John the baptist, others Elijah, Jeremiah or one of the prophets. Vs. 16 Simon Peter answered and said. “Thou art the Christ - the son - of the living God. Jesus confirmed this to be of God.
Later when Jesus was arrested, Peter denied this three times. Cursed and said - I do not know the MAN. This is proof that man is not able to find real meaning, from words that have realization in spirit only. Jesus is the word made flesh, not flesh that brought him into being. The word returns to the God who sent it and did not return void, “Accomplishing all it was intended to do.” All is of God. Nothing comes into being from any other source. Jesus was God manifest in the flesh and God was Jesus manifest in the flesh. 1 Tim. 3:16 Without controversy, great is the mystery of godliness. God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory. Jesus, the true image, took part in man, in his death as the son of man. Was raised out of death by the word of God and became the first-fruits of a new generation of sons of God. Jesus said - “destroy this temple and in three days I will raise it up.” The son of God is the spirit consciousness in the flesh body. To be dead to the old man and alive in Christ, the believer is son in a temple of flesh. He is not a mixture. The old man returns to the earth and the son returns to God the father.
In the beginning we have God's word and no satan. When man was formed and God spoke, this caused the adversary to emerge. As Paul said - “Am I become your enemy because I tell you the truth?” There is no adversary or denial until truth is manifest. There is nothing to oppose, if there is no truth. The lie has no mission except to deny truth. The lie is denial; it follows truth. Jesus said - “Get thee behind me, Satan.” This is his place. Peter made an attempt to stymie the truth Jesus had already - as God's purpose.
Unbelief is now the work of the adversary, in opposing the truth of the finished work of God in Christ. Has Christ said he has finished the work of God to man? Will it come to realization in the kingdom or in the earth? To those disposed to the earthy, Jesus is saying, “you do the work of your father.” (Jn.8:38) Faith overcomes denial.
