RECONCILIATION OF ALL THINGS
QUOTE FROM “ACCORDING TO THE PURPOSE”
BY: GEORGE R. HAWTIN
God has planned to reconcile to Himself ALL things. Full price has already been paid. “Having made peace through the blood of the cross, whether they be things in earth or things in heaven and you who were sometimes alienated in your mind by wicked works, yet has He reconciled in the body of His flesh through death to present you unblameable and unremoveable in his sight.” (Col 1: 20-22) The reconciliation purchased by the precious life blood by the Son of God will be carried out in every remote corner of the Universe until the vision of John will be complete, as he said “And every creature which is in heaven and on the earth, such as are in the sea and all that are in them heard I saying: blessing and honor and glory and power be unto him that sitteth upon the throne and unto the Lamb forever and ever.”
There is no desire or ambition in me to convince men of unwilling heart or mind concerning God’s great plan of restoring all things unto Himself. Proving great spiritual truth of unbelieving man and displaying the glory of the eternal purpose before Christians of stubborn and contrary minds constitutes the fullness of the blighting evil, which Jesus Christ described as “casting pearls before swine.” (Matt 7:6)
Those who would wantonly cast pearls before swine will learn the bitter lesson that they will be torn to pieces for telling the truth and the truth, itself, will be despised, belittled, trampled in the mire. It is recorded in the gospels that the multitudes gathered by the sea of Gallilee to hear the preaching of Jesus Christ. So great was the crowd that our Lord took the unusual step of getting into a little boat and pushing away from the shore, then using the boat for a platform and a pulpit. He preached a most remarkable sermon to the people, but every word He spoke was spoken in parables. When the restless crowd were gone their way, the disciples came to Him with this very important question. Why speakest Thou unto them in parables? (Matt 13:10) To this Jesus gave the strange but remarkable reply: “Because it is given unto to you to know the mysteries of the Kingdom of Heaven, but to them [the multitude], it is not given.” (Matt. 13:11)
Perhaps you are loath to admit it and perhaps your soul may be filled with wrath to hear it, but the TRUTH is simply this: in a crowd of 12,000 people, there may be fewer than 12 that see the truth and whose lives bring forth the fruit. In our day, ever increasing emphasis is being placed on crowds. Nothing is described as small or little. But like the boxes of soap in the supermarket, all must be LARGE, GIANT, OR SUPER. Full well did our Savior know that multitudes mean nothing at all. And great crowds of listeners mean less than nothing. He knew the infinite difference between those who listened and those who hear. And as it was then, so also it is today. Among the multitudes who read this book, only a handful will hear the message. And fewer still there will be who will cast off their chains of tradition and sectarianism, form and ceremony to follow yonder shining light through the gates into the eternal city.
It is not to the fearful and believing that I now write, but this I declare, God has named a day for the restitution of all things. And that wonderful day has been spoken of by all the prophets, from Moses until Christ (Acts 3: 19-20) We did not write these things to carnal minds who love to use the Word of God deceitfully that they might turn the Grace of God and the Wonders of His plan into an occasion for the flesh. There are always many evil men with carnal minds among professing Christians who dare to think and say that if God will eventually reconcile all things, let us eat and drink and be merry. Let us live for the world and freely partake of the lust of the flesh. Does rhyme or reason exist in such a thought as this? Do not such men clearly show that their service to God is a service frought with impure motive? They do not serve God because of the burning love of their hearts, but from some secret dread of punishment, which dread, if removed would prove them to be open rebels against God and not disciples at all, as they feigned to be. The man who is serving or professing to serve God because he is tormented by fear or what might happen to him if he fails to serve, is neither a servant or a disciple, but a dis-spirited vassal, [a person granted the use of land in return for which he rendered homage, fealty, and usually military service or its equivalent to his Lord or other superior; feudal tenant; a person holding some similar relation to a superior; a subject, sub-ordinant follower or retainer; a servant or slave] held captive by a tormenting fear [demonic spirit].
It is not to such as these that we now write, but to those slaves of Christ, whose ears have been bored through with the awl of LOVE, (Deut. 15:16-17), that they might serve Him forever whose eyes are single, not double (Matt 6:22), whose minds are one with the eternal.
Editor’s Comment: [Roger observed that his spiritual growth was stunted because he had allowed himself to be part of an “Organized Religious Organization.” His experiences were to, first hand, see that the most important information that had to be absorbed before he could be “ordained” all had to do with the administrative part of the “how to’s” of the church. It had little to nothing to do with being led by the Spirit of God.]
Since then it is through the saints and members of the mystical body of Christ that God has purposed to restore all things, what manner of persons ought we to be in all holy conversation and godliness. Oh, that God would open the eyes and the minds of those that read the eternal truths of those that read – to see that the redemption which Christ Jesus purchased with His life’s blood will be carried into the uttermost part of the earth and the vastness of the universe by those sons who have been redeemed by his blood. Blessed be the God and father of our Lord, Jesus, who has crowed us with every spiritual blessing in the Heavenly realm in Christ, even as in His love. He chose us as His own in Christ before the creation of the world that we might be Holy and without blemish in His presence. For He predestined us to be adopted by Himself as sons through Jesus Christ. Such being His gracious will and pleasure to the praise of the splendor of His Grace with which He has enriched us in the Beloved One. It is in Him and through the shedding of His Blood that we have our deliverance. The forgiveness of our offences so abundant was God’s grace – the grace which He, the possessor of all wisdom and understanding lavished upon us when He made known to us the secret of His Will. And this is in harmony with God’s merciful purpose for the government of the world when the times are right for it. The Purpose which He has cherished in His own mind of restoring the whole creation to find its one head in Christ; yes, things in heaven and things on earth, to find their own head in Him. (Eph 1:9-12)
