SEVEN FOLD LIGHT
BY: PETER DEMETRIS
THE KNOWLEDGE OF CHRIST IN REVELATION IS SEVEN-FOLD LIGHT
The Revelation of Jesus Christ: For centuries the Book of Revelation has held the interest of everybody from prophet, seer, to ordinary laymen, citizen, very often strongly believed as the spiritual meaning behind events happening in the world. There has been no end to the predictions that have been somehow justified by things found written in this text. However in every instance the predictions of the most noted theologians have been utterly wrong. This is not because all were deceived, but rather it shows how difficult a task it is to interpret one writing, as complex and filled with symbolism, such as Revelation, which describes the complete appearing of Christ in spiritual terms and symbols.
The power of St. John’s prophecy opens to us the invisible world of God’s Kingdom being formed within us; but not at an ordinary carnal level, rather a highly intensified spiritual level of understanding. This article will be an introduction to the profound nature of this prophecy, whose conclusion predicts the emergence of New Worlds formed by the return of Jesus Christ and His Holy Saints. Another way of knowing this is to understand that He is establishing His very presence and power within those who are called. In these shall He appear and bring the promised restoration, redemption.
Isaiah 30:26 Moreover the light of the moon shall be as the light of the sun, and the light of the sun shall be sevenfold, as the light of seven days, in the day that the Lord bindeth up the breach of his people, and healeth the stroke of their wound. (KJV)
THE KNOWLEDGE OF CHRIST IN REVELATION IS SEVEN-FOLD LIGHT.
In scripture the reference to light is often a symbol for knowledge or wisdom from God. Knowledge revealed through spiritual experience. Darkness, the obvious opposite, is ignorance. Psalm 119:130 The entrance of thy words giveth light, it giveth understanding unto the simple. (KJV) Ephesians 5:8 For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord; walk as children of light: (KJV) II Peter 1:19 We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts: (KJV)
Light therefore is a powerful term referring to Christ Himself and the knowledge of His person and creation that comes to us by the Holy Spirit. His Spiritual Knowledge is light. The light of seven days is therefore an expression to explain more powerfully the intensity of the knowledge that will come forth to bring God’s plan to pass.
A similar picture is found in the Book of Joshua. Each day for six days Israel circled Jericho, marching once around its walls. Then on the SEVENTH day they circled SEVEN times and the walls (flesh, darkness, death) were thrown down and Israel overcame the city. This also parallels the six one thousandth year days God’s people have labored to walk around and through this world of flesh and darkness. But on the seventh day the brightness of His coming shall be unto us; a knowledge of such wonder and grace of power that the walls of death and destruction will finally be shown utterly vanquished.
Throughout scripture the number seven is connected to perfection, fullness and maturity. Something that has come to its full promise of potential: Psalm 12:6 The words of the LORD are pure words; as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. (KJV) The Book of Revelation is marked by this significant number; it is not the only spiritual number associated and related to the interpretation of it’s message but it does bring the value of seven and it’s meaning to the other symbols. It’s the Light of Seven Days! There are, for example, seven candlesticks, which are the angels and the messengers of the churches (those in Christ whole realm is High and Lifted up.) Seven is also associated with the throne. Seven eyes and seven horns, which are the Seven Spirits of God, sent forth in the earth.
In Chapter five there are seven seals upon a book written within, representing all the meaning and mysteries of God’s voice to be experienced as we UN-COVER, reveal or disclose what has been hidden and COVERED over. Seven is also used to describe the nature of the seven last plagues. Seven Bowls, seven heads, seven kings and seven mountains, further emphasizing the multi-dimensional nature of each symbol. Seven is a number related to the Sabbath Day of Perfection and Rest, the millennium, also described by John in Revelation as a thousand year reign of Christ. The knowledge of Christ in revelation is seven-fold light. His appearing shall be glorious brightness beyond comprehension of natural senses. To those that LOOK for Him; He shall appear again to bring FULL SALVATION.
Hebrews 9:28 So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation. (KJV) I Peter 1:9 Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls. (KJV) Now the very first sentence of the Apokalupsis first verse will take us a little deeper into the real and intended meaning of this sacred writing. Revelation 1:1 The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servant’s things. It is titled The Revelation coming from the Greek word apokalupsis meaning to take off the cover, to disclose.
By the time of this experience of St. John, there needed to be a new revealing of Christ, because the person of Jesus struggling to survive in an atmosphere of deep and powerful persecution (even John was in exile on the island of Patmos) and the modernization of society. Superstition, fear and false religious legends ruled over consciousness to a great degree. The real power and understanding of who Christ is and of His appearing again in the earth was slowly being sealed by the march of time and chance.
In addition, the society and culture were changing so rapidly in that day, that the distraction of earthly life was overwhelming. Every day living and survival was more important than the culture of Christ and so in time all the power of real understanding was buried and the more religious or traditional forms of Christianity began to emerge. (Most of those whose connections were to the original apostles or their immediate students of Christ were under great persecution.)
The revelation of St. John was an awakening of his own mind to the higher realm, which Christ now occupies, and how it operates in us, and his prophecy declares how Christ will ultimately manifest in the earth as a new creation of God. He was lifted up to see that no matter what was happening in man’s world, Jesus Christ is the Lord, appearing in heaven, (the Jesus he had known as a man now spoke in the signs and symbols of spiritual awakening revealing His glorious state of being with the power of life over death, alive), …and this very death-conquering life, is on earth – through the church (7 golden candle stands). Afterward the very throne of God’s power would begin it’s decent into manifestation through the sons of God. But now John could instruct the churches of this new awareness of Christ and lift their spirits also to meet with the Lord in the air of His realm.
Today we are in need of a great uncovering again of who Jesus Christ really is. The purposes for which He came and died and rose from the dead are the only issues of life. Two thousand years of carnal history has caused the manifestation of His full presence to be captive in a deceptive web of ignorance, superstition, controversy and conflict of all manners, even among those who live and believe in Him. The full and glorious capacity of Christ Jesus awaits and expects its manifestation upon the earth. We must become TURNED … to see and hear the Lord in His brightness and 7-fold light speak to us.
Colossians 2:2-3 … and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ; In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. (KJV)
Our next few articles on this subject will share very precious and wonderful keys to help describe and explain the glory of His appearing in us. The Light of God’s thought will deliver us from all earthly bondages and reveal Christ in us by glorious reality. No one on earth could tell us these things, but he who is the Holy Spirit reveals them.
