TWO SWORDS

BY:  ANTHONY IDEMUDIA ASAKPA

NOVEMBER 5, 2006

We talked about the 2 swords yesterday and noticed one sword represents Jesus Christ as Head and the other as Christ’s body- His church.

This being our means of protection for our walk in Him (our shoes).

Yet there is more.

Jesus Christ IS The Word of God (The Living Word – Rev 19:13) and His body IS The Word on the earth (Living epistles being read by the world – 2Cor 3:2,3).

Remember that the sword of the Spirit is The Word of God (Eph 6:17). This is much more than just the written word. The Spirit’s sword is reliance on the very Living Word, Christ Jesus Himself. Hence those who do not know Him trying to use the Word get into trouble e.g., the 7 sons of Sceva (Acts 19:13-16).

Ah, brothers and sisters still there is more.

The sword is also bread.

‘I am The Bread of Life’, Jesus said in John 6:35

‘I am the Living Bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for (eis) ever (aion). John 6:51 (We’ll talk about the greek eis -aion another time).

The Bread must be broken for the people to be fed. So Jesus was broken to give His life for the world.

So also must we be broken to have an impact on the world.

Do not be afraid to be broken; for only then can the people obtain nourishment.

Stay blessed in Him,
