OCTOBER 19, 2004

Good morning from the hills of Samaria. I have just finished an article that I have been working on to give to folks who come here for a visit like today. We have a group of over thirty coming for burgers and ice cream and a visit this noon and will give them a copy of he following article. Hope it will be a blessing to you. Homer

Having accepted Jesus as my savior almost sixty years ago and never once doubting His keeping power it is with a great deal of excitement to share with you part of what He has shown me over these years. I believe the greatest desire of our Heavenly Father is for us to discover more about His Son and how we relate to Him in our everyday walk.

Paul tells us that he counted everything as dung that he might know Him. Here is a man that was full of the Holy Ghost writing to the church in Philippi and his desire was to be found in Him. I pray that is your desire today along with me. That we might find ourselves in Him. The longer I walk with the Lord, the more I am overcome by His great love and care for me.

“Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord; seeing that His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence. For by these He has granted to us His precious and magnificent promises, in order that by them you might become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world by lust.” (2 Peter 1:2-4)

In 1968 the Lord saw fit to baptize me in His Holy Spirit and allow me to come into a new relationship with Himself. I began to have a desire to walk even as He walked with the same authority and anointing as He walked in and this desire has never ceased. He tells us that with Holy Ghost power we can truly be His witnesses both here in Israel and out to the world. As you can well imagine this walk has carried me down many trails that have proved quite interesting to say the least. My wife who has made this journey with me for the past forty eight years tells folks that living with Homer has never been boring. I pray that what I share with you will not be boring. His intention for all of us is to provide an exciting life on a daily basis.

The story of the Jews coming out of Egypt and heading to the promise land is not intended to be just a Jewish history course but as Paul tells us in 1 Corinthians 10 that we are not to be unaware of what happened for this all happened as examples for us. These things were written for our instruction of which the ends of the ages have come.

The Lord made abundantly clear to me that His desire and instruction to me is to be an overcomer in every area of my life. He showed me that the first commandment in the bible is in the first chapter of Genesis where we are told to go and subdue and take dominion over this earth. God chose a people and a nation to do this and we have been included in this conquest of this earth. In Ephesians 2 and elsewhere we are told that the Gentiles have been brought into the commonwealth of Israel. Praise God for His blood which paid the price for us.

“…who by faith conquered kingdoms, performed acts of righteousness, obtained promises, shut the mouths of lions, quenched the power of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, from weakness were made strong, became mighty in war, put foreign armies to flight.” (Hebrews 11:33-34)

The Lord began showing and telling Ruby and I that we were to subdue kingdoms around central Texas. We are told that the kingdoms of this world will become the kingdoms of our God. This morning I spent about fifteen minutes here at the Mini Golf picking up cigarette butts that the kids left here last night. Cleanness is a kingdom. This is just one of many kingdoms and the Lord will show you which ones He would have you to conquer. Taking up my cross daily allows me to clean up messes and not complain about it.

Over the years He showed us eight different pieces of property in Texas that we were to bring under the control of the Holy Spirit. Jesus gives us a prayer to pray in which we are to ask the Father to bring His kingdom down here to earth. We all know that God has heaven well under control and this is what we are commanded to do with our little corner of this earth. Heaven on earth, now. This earth belongs to us because we are children of the most High God and joint heirs with His Son.

I quickly identified with Joshua and Caleb as two men who had a heart to believe their God for the impossible when it came to taking land. It is hard for us to realize that only these two men survived the test of God when it came time to either go and conquer the land God had given them or die in the wilderness. I simply believe that we have to make a choice of life or death in the path laid out for us by the Lord. May He grant us multiplied grace as we embark on His plans and purposes.

In 1998 we came on a tour to Israel and the first night we stayed in Tiberias on the Sea of Galilee. At 4 AM the next morning the Lord had me up to spend time with Him and He opened a passage of scripture in Ephesians 2 where He talks about ONE NEW MAN in Christ. I have experienced the presence of God on many occasions but this encounter brought me into a new relationship with the King of Glory that changed me forever. He spoke to my inner man that morning that I would be involved in seeing this happen. The Lord has worked with Ruby and I for the past forty-eight years to make us one flesh and this is not an easy happening. In the same way it is not going to be a simple thing to bring forth this ONE NEW MAN. But God! Glory!

I had grown up in a Christian family and my father had a very good Jewish man as a friend, but we were basically told that the Jews messed up and the Church had taken the place of the Jews. I even found myself in the early 60’s believing that the Jews were responsible for most of our troubles in the world, but this began to change when Jesus baptized me in His Spirit and let me know that He was a Jew and will never change. Over the years the Lord has blessed me with several Jewish relationships in the states and now allows this to happen here in the land. God is good!

In the spring and summer of 1998 I began to take another look at the Jewish relationship to the church and it was in this time of searching for truth in this arena that I found myself here in the land. We had planned on going on a vacation into the northwestern part of the United States but the Lord had other plans of which we are grateful. On the 10th day of our tour the Lord spoke to me that He was going to send us to Israel as business people. This was a pleasant surprise for both of us and by His marvelous grace we said, Yes.

As I endeavored to prepare my heart for this new adventure I had one question. “Lord, do you have an inheritance for us in Israel?” His reply was, “Come and I will show you.” If we walk like our father Abraham walked we will many times be required to walk not knowing but simply trusting. Faith can be a pretty scary walk. I heard Derek Prince say one time that walking in faith is like walking on the edge of disaster. If we expect to please the King we must be people of faith.

“And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him.” (Hebrews 11:6)

I had met the Mayor of Ariel, Ron Nachman, on our tour and expressed to him that I wanted to come to Israel and be in some kind of golf business. He told me that if I would come to Ariel and put in a Miniature Golf course for the young people that they would supply the land. Yes, our God is good, always.

We began the process of moving to Israel and establishing our business in the fall of 2000. I am writing this in the fall of 2004 and the Lord continues to establish us here in the hills of Samaria. We own and operate a mini golf and deli restaurant with folks coming from around the world to eat our Texas burgers and Ruby’s home made ice cream. Glory!

One day while having my morning time with the Lord He had me read a little about Caleb. To my surprise I discovered that Caleb was not Jewish. Caleb was the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite. We find that a mixed multitude came out of Egypt with Moses that had embraced what the God of Abraham was doing and this is one of those families. Caleb in Hebrew means dog. I realized that morning that the Lord had much to show me about the Gentile and Jewish connection that would give me more understanding of the ONE NEW MAN.

This Gentile had become the head of the tribe of Judah and was walking in the anointing that Jacob spoke about on his deathbed to his sons. Jacob had gathered all 12 of his sons around him in order to tell them what shall befall them in the days to come, or literally in the end of days. Let us look at the word given to Judah.

“Judah, your brothers shall praise you; Your hand shall be on the neck of your enemies; Your father’s sons shall bow down to you. Judah is a lion’s whelp; From the prey, my son, you have gone up. He couches, he lies down as a lion, And as a lion, who dares rouse him up? The scepter shall not depart from Judah, Nor the ruler’s staff from between his feet, Until Shiloh comes, and to him shall be the obedience of the peoples…” (Genesis 49:8-12)

Joshua told Caleb that the tribe of Judah could not claim their inheritance until they helped all of the other tribes enter into their possession. Caleb was eighty-five years old when he took the tribe of Judah into their inheritance and it is interesting to note that much of the disputed territory in Israel today belonged to the tribe of Judah. Could it still belong to this tribe and needs to be taken again today? We live in the hills of Samaria and this was part of the inheritance of Judah.

This writing is not intended to be an in depth study of this whole subject, but hopefully it will whet your appetite to get into the Lord and do your own digging. He has riches untold for all of us to partake of. Paul prayed that a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Christ would rest unto God’s people. Lord, we say amen to this prayer for us today. Reveal Yourself to us and make cause our paths to be straight.

In studying about these people we discover that they became two kingdoms. The northern tribes were known as Israel and the southern tribes as Judah. David became the King of Judah for the first seven and half years although he had been picked by God and anointed by Samuel to be King of all of Israel. After Saul and his sons died we find David coming from Hebron to Jerusalem and the elders of Israel coming and anointing him King of all Israel.

Today we find Jesus as the King of Judah although He has been anointed to be King of all Israel. The day will come when He comes to Jerusalem and the elders of Israel will acknowledge and anoint Him to be King of all Israel. In my excitement I am getting a little ahead of the story, but wow. We all know that He is the lion of the tribe of Judah of which we read about in Genesis 49:9. There are many passages of scripture to give you a more perfect picture of this revelation, but this is not the purpose of this writing. If you are hungry for truth you will enjoy doing your own in depth study which will cause you to grasp this great truth in your inner man.

“Son of man, take a stick of wood and write on it, ‘Belonging to Judah and the Israelites associated with him.’ Then take another stick of wood, and write on it, ‘Ephraim’s stick, belonging to Joseph and all the house of Israel associated with him.’ Join them together into one stick so that they will become one in your hand.” (Ezekiel 37:16-17)

What we are witnessing today is the Lord taking these two sticks and putting them together even as He had Ezekiel declare that it would happen. We have the tribes of Joseph which make up all the northern tribes of Israel coming back into the land and at the same time He is having His church, which is the tribe of Judah to walk alongside his brothers and protect them and to encourage them.

The Lord brought ship loads of people looking for a new way of living and especially freedom of religion to the shores of America and they gave the new land to Jesus and proclaimed that the gospel would go forth to the four corners of the earth from this new nation. This man Jesus, is the Lion of Judah, yes, the King of Judah. The Lord has brought forth the United States to stand with Israel as brothers.

“Behold, you will call a nation you do not know, and a nation which knows you not will run to you, Because of the Lord your God, even the Holy One of Israel; For He has glorified you.” (Isaiah 55:5)

Paul has much to say to the church about Israel and the church in Romans chapter 9, 10, and 11. We find a very interesting passage of scripture in chapter 11 that shows the fulfillment of the prophecy given by Ezekiel about these two sticks. We are living in that day when this is coming about. Let us read this carefully together.

“I am speaking to you who are Gentiles, Inasmuch then as I am an apostle to the Gentiles, I magnify my ministry, if somehow I might move to jealousy my fellow countrymen and save some of them. For if their rejection be the reconciliation of the world, what will their acceptance be but life from the dead?

And if the first piece of dough be holy, the lump is also; and if the root be holy, the branches are too. But if some of the branches were broken off, and you, being a wild olive, were grafted in among them and became partaker with them of the rich root of the olive tree, do not be arrogant, remember that is not you who supports the root, but the root supports you…

If they do not continue in their unbelief, will be grafted in; for God is able to graft them in again. For if you were cut off from what is by nature into a cultivated olive tree, how much more shall these who are the natural branches be grafted into their own olive tree?” (Romans 11:13-24)

The Lord is speaking to many believers about coming to Israel these days to walk alongside the people of God in the land. To consider the possibility that we as Gentile believers make up the tribe of Judah becomes pretty exciting. Less than fifteen miles from the spot that this is being written we find the God of Abraham making an everlasting covenant with Abraham and his seed about this land. The promise was made to his seed and not seeds.

“Now the promises were spoken to Abraham and to his seed. He does not say, ‘And to seeds,’ as referring to many, but rather to one, ‘And to your seed,’ which is Christ… And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, heirs according to promise.” (Galatians 3:16, 29)

Just think dear one, you are a joint heir with this man called Jesus. He is coming back soon to rule and reign from Jerusalem. You are promised seven times in Revelation 2 and 3 that you can rule with Him if you meet His criteria. Remember that you can please this King by faith and that He is prepared to reward you openly. Come quickly Lord Jesus.

As a Gentile believer you have been given the ruling staff and scepter to exercise your God given authority as written in Genesis 49:10. We are to take our place until Shiloh (Christ) comes, and then we will continue to rule and reign with Him forever and ever and ever. Glory!
